The Strapateer Avis 

Product arrived on time. Quality looks amazing, feels great. The strap is sturdy, rivets were in place. Couldn’t be happier.

The Strapateer vest is beautifully constructed and the fit is perfectly (std M fits a 40-42” chest) with just enough room to spare. The buttons on the top of the sleeve holes are a fantastic, simple design that works just as intended. Really great overall.

I recently purchased two camera straps from Strapateer, and they meet and exceed all expectations. The customer service was excellent—communication was clear and prompt, and shipping was blazing fast. Despite the tracking code showing no info until delivery, the straps arrived in just three days over a weekend here in Pennsylvania. The packaging showed great attention to detail, and the straps themselves are even better.

At first touch, the leather felt wonderfully plump and soft, with finely crafted edges. After some use, I’m happy to report they’re breaking in beautifully and will age with grace. The hardware is solid and attractive, lending a neat and polished look to the straps.

The Type A strap is a real standout. Having spent years using various thin, non-adjustable straps, switching to an adjustable one has been a refreshing change. It’s versatile—perfect for hand-holding or cross-body wear and also works well as a shorter, mid-chest neck strap. While I haven’t fully explored all the buckle’s functions, it adds charm and I’m sure there’s more functionality to discover.

I also ordered a Type C, though I haven’t had much chance to use it. I was hoping the small split ring might help minimize rubbing on the Leica SL. Even so, it’s beautifully made, with leather and hardware that match the quality of the Type A. *Update* since leaving my original review Matthew informed me that they have a custom option available for SL style strap mounts. It just arrived today (very quickly, again!) and I am completely satisfied.

All in all, this was a fantastic experience, and I wish Matthew and his team all the best. As they say, they’re photographers working for photographers, and it shows. Highly recommended!

Hi. The vest is well made. But...it is suppsed to be anXL and it is barely a small Large. The arm holes are tight, especially if wearing a jumper or similar underneath. It is too short: and the pockets are not at the bottom of the vest but some 2 centimetres from the bottom, so that to try and use them feels as though you're cramped and awkward. The pockets extend around the sides, which is deeply impractical as mose users would also be using a bag of some sort, and that impedes their use. Compared to say a Domke Photogs vest (which is a slightly different beast, I admit) it seems a 'fashion' item, and not a working vest. I was really disappointed, sorry.
