I don't recommend this service at all. They're not clear about subscriptions when signing up and you're charged twice once for the initial use and then a premium subscription! Their support team wasn't helpful either when requesting a refund.

DECEPTIVE "1-WEEK" TRAP: Designed to confuse you
TranscribeToText.ai uses "dark patterns" to trick users into expensive subscriptions. Their sign-up page is intentionally confusing: it literally says "1-Week Trial" and "1-Month Plan" on the exact same box. Most people see the "1-Week Trial" for £4.50 ($5.99) and assume it is a short-term commitment. However, it is a trap. Just 7 days later, they automatically charge you £23 ($29.99) every month. They use fake countdown timers and hide the actual subscription costs in tiny, faded text at the bottom of the screen. They refuse full refunds, claiming you are past a "trial period" that was never clearly explained. Avoid this site; it is designed to take your money without clear consent.

Just to clarify — the speaker diarization feature needs to be turned on before you start recording or uploading a file. It can’t split speakers after the transcription is ready.
We’re currently working on adding the ability to edit completed transcripts in the future. For now, the only way to adjust the text is manually — for example, in Word or a similar editor.

liars! Beware of this company. First, they used the word "Otter" in the headline to bate me to them instead of the real Otter company. Then, they say Free Trial but it charges immediately. The translation was terrible and unorganized. The SUPPORT button does not even work. It is hard to unsubsribe and you are stuck with the first month's payment. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Horrible! MS Word's free built-in transcriber is much better
I was using MS Word's built-in transcription before. I had to do one file at a time, and the accuracy wasn't perfect, but it worked. I wanted a better solution. An AI-based transcription for better accuracy, and the capability to upload multiple files. These guys looked great on paper (or on screen), so I paid for a one week trial. I then quickly became sorely disappointed...
1) Accuracy: the accuracy is terrible!! The transcription built-in to MS Word is even substantially more accurate!
2) Price: Competing platforms (AI transcription services) are all around $10 per month (if you pay the year in advance). With these guys, I noticed after I paid for my 5 day trial (yes, you have to pay for a trial!), that the renewal rate was $30/month!
3) Can't upload multiple files. Their website lied, or is at least misleading. Just like the MS Word built-in transcription feature, you have to upload one file at a time. I tried dragging and dropping multiple files, but it only catches one. I tried using the file selection dialog to select multiple files, still won't let me select multiple files.
To summarize, this transcription service is terrible. I'm willing to bet there is no AI engine behind it because it doesn't "think" when transcribing. it doesn't think of the context when deciphering poorly pronounced words. Whereas other AI engines are pretty much 100% accurate because they think while transcribing. The 100% free transcription and dictation features built-in to Microsoft Word are so much better in every way possible. Don't waste your money with TranscribetoText.AI.

It is a fake service.. they pretend to be Descript... Transcription does not even work... it tries to make you a paying customer for a service which does not work whatsoever...

Quality is worse than recording into a google doc and using ChatGPT to translate. Additionally, the translation function kept failing. This product isn't ready.

What a dump
What a dump! Don't waste your money, please! First, they pretended to be Descript in their advertising to bring me to their site. And while they say you can join for free, you actually can't do anything for free. I joined for a month, which was $14.99, before it goes up to $24.99. All they do is transcribe videos...none of the other services that a company like Descript provides including clip generation, subtitles, etc. I immediately canceled my subscription and asked for my money back and they actualy refused even though I didn't use the service. Their email refusing to provide a refund was condescending and lame. Save yourself the money and find another company.

Took out money from my account
I have used it once to transcibe some interviews. I choose a one time service and didn't subscribe to a monthly access, as I knew I just needed it once. The one time use cost around 6 dollars. The following month, they took out 24 dollars from my account. I wrote an e-mail to them asking to give back to the money, but they didn't reply.
The transscribtion ittself was fine - but a lot more expensive than expected.

Avoid this scamming company at all costs. They operate with highly deceptive tactics to get people to sign up for ‘free’ or week long trials before automatically taking $25 for a monthly subscription you did not want. After this point there is no way of getting a refund. Also, their transcription quality is truly abysmal, having tried several at this point.

Steer clear of this scam. I signed up for a free trial and never authorized a paid subscription. Still, they somehow charged me and won’t provide a refund. And the service doesn’t even work! Don’t take my word for it. Read the reviews and see how many people were scammed by these sheisters.

Free trial scam for an Transcription Service that doesn't work
Signed up for a free trial. Tried to transcribe audio from a video to text and this failed completely with no transcription generated. Immediately tried to cancel, but the website only allows cancellation with effect from another month of paid for subscription. Complete scam. I never signed up for a paid service. The transcription service does not work at all. there are no contact details for support except one email address for which I've received no response. I will be disputing any charges through my CC provider. AVOID!!
