I am downgrading my review from 5 stars to 1 due to the Kafkaesque experience I am facing as an Executor. If you are an international investor, beware: Triodos’ "ethical" branding does not extend to supporting bereaved families.
Despite my relative passing in the UK, Triodos has left me in a total "Catch-22." Their standard bereavement policy is to have the Executor use the Captin platform to transfer the shares, yet Captin refuses to register Executors outside a handful of countries. When I pointed out this wall, Triodos gave the highly irregular and legally risky advice to simply find a "trusted person" in Europe to take the assets.
When I refused to circumvent probate law, they pivoted to misinformation, repeatedly directing me to Interactive Brokers (IBKR). IBKR confirmed in writing that Triodos’ instructions were incorrect, yet three weeks after I shared this rejection, Triodos told me to contact IBKR again. They aren't even reading my emails.
The most galling part? Section 14 of their own "Important Information" document prohibits "US Persons" from holding these receipts. Triodos spent four months pushing me toward a transfer that their own compliance rules forbid. They failed to disclose this; I had to find it myself. Furthermore, the deceased was herself a US citizen. Triodos was happy to hold these assets for a citizen of a "prohibited" country for years, but now my US citizenship is an excuse to lock estate assets and obstruct my legal authority granted by a UK court.
Losing a loved one is hard enough; being forced by a "values-based" bank to spend months fighting a legal impossibility while grieving is heartless. Triodos is turning a period of mourning into a full-time job of correcting their own compliance failures. After 12 emails since December, my patience is exhausted. A "values-led" bank should not be an administrative nightmare for the families left behind.
I await a resolution, not a redirection. (Ref: 010196XXXXX)

Fantastic Bank With Great Ethical Standards. I previously banked with Triodos and have always found them reliable with no downtime on there Mobile Banking or Internet Banking. I have always found there staff friendly and helpful no matter what channel I have used to get hold of them, whether it be by the app chat function, email, telephone so much better then other high street banks out there.
I did however feel that the time to process Outward Payments (Faster Payments) a bit behind the times. It used to take anything up to an hour or more for the payment to be received by the other person. I would like to say that recently Triodos has made some Fantastic Improvements not only to the Faster Payments (now within minutes) they have added better functions to their Mobile App. Push Notifications for Inward Payments and Faster Payments and Debit Card Payments which are received by your mobile within minutes of the transaction being made so you can certainly see if there are any transactions you don't recognise and query them if needed. I feel in the last 6 months Triodos has made fantastic strides and have moved my banking back to them. I really think Triodos Bank could give all the High Street Banks a run for there money.
