Over 230 Applications and only 4 Interviews with ZERO job offer
Upmatch advertises a “guaranteed outcome or full refund.” That’s what convinced me to sign up.
Here’s the reality:
• Paid £500 for the service
• Spent an additional $522 on Connects on Upwork after repeated instructions from their team to keep adding connects to continue bidding
• 230+ applications sent
• 0 offers
Yes, the £500 was refunded. The $522? Completely dismissed.
What stood out:
• The “guarantee” is not as clear as it sounds; only applies to their fee, not the required spend to execute their process
• You are repeatedly pushed to spend more on Connects to keep their system running
• Expectations shift during the process (more bids, more spend, different targets)
• The actual service is high-volume job applications with no meaningful differentiation or results
My takeaway:
This is essentially a volume-based application approach that requires continuous spending but doesn’t improve outcomes.
Without this service, I may or may not have landed a role, but I would definitely be $522 better off.
Final warning:
If you’re considering this, understand the real cost isn’t just the service fee; it’s the ongoing spend required to keep the process going.
And based on my experience, that spend does not guarantee results.

Given that the founder has taken his time to respond to my review with a lot of lies is quite telling. I am updating my review to respond to all his points.

Thanks for your response. I’ll address each of your points for accuracy:

1. On the “custom reduced package”
This is not accurate. I did not request a custom package. I was initially hesitant to sign, and the only reason I agreed to proceed was after Jon offered a 100% refund if the expected outcome of at least 3 to 5 jobs was not achieved. That assurance was a key factor in my decision to join.
2. On the refund being a “gesture of goodwill”
This is also not accurate. The refund was issued after I referenced the prior agreement and provided evidence of the refund assurance shared by your team. It was not presented as discretionary at the time, but as a resolution based on that prior commitment.
3. On response times and “multiple leads”
My response times were not significantly delayed. In most cases, I responded within minutes, with the longest delay being 3 hours due to gathering requested information. I have records and screenshots to support this.
More importantly, across 230+ applications, the outcome was 0 offers and very few replies which speaks to the effectiveness of the process.
4. On being “uncooperative or disrespectful”
I do not agree with this characterization. My communication throughout was consistent and professional, and I have written records and screenshots of all interactions.
5. On submitting 230 applications “as requested”
I did not request a specific number of applications. The volume of applications was driven by your team’s process.
Throughout the engagement, I was repeatedly asked to add Connects to continue bidding, which resulted in $522 of additional spend before I decided to stop at the end of the one month contract period due to lack of results.
6. On suggested improvements (Loom video and cover letter)
I did record and provide a Loom video. I was later informed it would not be used, and was asked if I was comfortable proceeding without it, to which I agreed based on your team’s recommendation.
For the cover letter, I was the one who suggested tweaking it after the team had sent hundreds of applications with no results. Again, the Upmatch team wrote a different cover letter and shared with me for review which I said was okay to proceed. I didn’t write any of the cover letters they worked with.
7. On onboarding delays
There were no material delays on my end that impacted execution. I completed requirements as requested.
8. On Connects not being “pushed”
While I understand your position, in practice the process required continuous Connects to function. Repeated requests to top up were made so bidding could continue, making this an essential part of executing your service.
9. On requesting a refund in exchange for a review
This is not accurate. I requested a fair resolution based on the total cost incurred while following your team’s process after the expected outcome was not achieved.
Final clarification
This comes down to outcome vs total cost:
• £500 service fee (refunded)
• $522 additional spend required to execute the process
• 230+ applications
• 0 offers
That is the full context of my experience.

Amazing Work!
I have been scammed by marketing companies in the past not delivering on things that were promised. These guys were my last attempt at giving a marketing team to generate me leads that actually would close. They have more then performed! Within the second week after the profile optimization I closed 3,500 USD and am looking to close potentially a 5-10k a month retainer as well as a 5 figure client! Better Than I Expected
I spent weeks bidding on Upwork, refining my profile, and trying every tip I could find but I wasn’t seeing results. Upmatch has been bidding for 8 days and I landed a client on a monthly retainer of 2000/month just yesterday. Ali has been great with video support to discuss strategy for taking on more projects when deadlines are tight. The quality of the proposals (long term, high value) fit my service for UX / UI design very well. Making the loom video has been a big help. Generally the process gets you to prioritise your service and practice sales, which is always a bonus. The added benefit they offer is you can pause your auto-billing and restart it again when you're ready. The monthly subscription does feel daunting at first, but getting someone to do your outreach for you gives you the time to work on providing good service. It is money well spent.
