Do not take this website seriously. They appear unconcerned about the real threat and devastation to native bees by the Asian hornet. Last year, we advised them about a nearby suspected Asian hornets nest near our wild native BEE hive. Our bee hive is very high in a tree. They wanted a video. We sent a video of very large hornets hovering around the beehive. You could see the bees and comparatively very large hornets. We had also trapped some and photographed them: huge hornets with bright yellow legs. They said it was inconclusive and would not come and inspect.
This year, we have huge hornets entering our closed garden parasol. We were scared to go to this part of our garden. We sent them a close up video of a huge hornet with yellow legs which landed on a salvia next to the parasol. Once again, they said it was inconclusive and would not visit.
So we called the fire brigade. They came within 2 days and told us we have a primary nest of Asian hornets in our parasol and have prevented a future big nest being built.
Vespa watch are irrelevant in tackling the problem. They are actually adding to it.
I shall be complaining to the relevant authorities. This website and the employees are not doing their job. A waste of money.
Do not bother contacting vespawatch. Call the fire brigade.
