VoIPify Avis 4

After nearly two years VoIPify still merit five stars.

Reliable service and prompt replies over an occasional billing query (related to my payment card changes).

Once going it seems to “just work”.

I've left it a few months before writing a review for VoIPify as I wanted to see how the service was in practice.

After 6 months I can say I'm actually very pleased with VoIPify.

I went with them because they gave me confidence that they could retrieve my landline once I had "upgraded" to fibre .

You can speak to "real people" who actually understand. I have the impression it's a fairly small firm but from my experience the service is excellent and responsive (the opposite of a traditional telco for domestic customers).

It's a bit confusing to get the service going as you have an "extension" (which in domestic terms is something for your VoIP adaptor to register to) and a "number". Each of these has a monthly charge and one extension plus one number costs £4.80 (including VAT) a month. That service comes with 200 minutes to 01/02 numbers included (strangely not 03 numbers however).

Other calls are chargable at fairly reasonable cost.

It's a pre-pay service (which was one of the attractive aspects for me) and to top up £10 costs £12 (£10 + VAT!)

With a Gigaset basestation and some DECT phones it's been very good over the 6 months I've had the service.

There are cheaper VoIP services but I actually wanted to pay enough to fund a reasonable level of support should I need it.

All in all I would call VoIPify a safe choice for your home phone number.

I was looking for an alternative to Sipgate Starter: I decided upon Voipify and up to now Voipify mostly get a thumbs up from me.

Edit: A big negative is the high cost of calls to 03 numbers which means that we use our mobile inclusive minutes to call these so we have dropped the review to 4 stars because of this.

Since we have to our mobiles for 03 calls anyway it begs the question why have VOIP at all ?

Regarding the overall monthly cost, (including calls), Sipgate cost much less but overall I prefer Voipify.

Using one local phone number and one extension, (eg an N300a or similar with four or more dect phones counts as one extension), the Voipify monthly cost before calls is £4.20 per month including VAT. - This monthly cost is higher than some others but the call costs per unit are lower than others and for me that balances it out. - (Ignoring the high cost of 03 calls noted above).

Everything shown on the Voipify website and within the account is ex-vat (which is a PITA) but apparently, they aim for SMEs and that is why.

Voipify is OK.

Right now on my Gigaset N300a I have both Sipgate and Voipify set up so that both phone numbers are fully operational and both numbers work well but Sipgate is going onto the back burner.

This is a great company. It was quite complicated and daunting getting my Linksys adapter set up properly, so I rang Matt at the service dept and he had it sorted in a few minutes. He then gave me a crash course on getting the best out of their services. Couldn't have asked for more, and I am now saving money every day. Will be recommending Port 5060 to everyone I know.
