This thing is junk.

Firstly they got rid of Smart things integration.
Secondly their disaggregation is always completely wrong, a/c shows as heating, tumble dryer as heating, oven as heating or sometimes as tumble dryer, dishwasher rarely shows, the longer it's been running the worse it gets..

It's totally useless in conjunction with a time of use tariff so it's unfortunate that octopus were the main ones distributing this thing.

Very interesting and useful smart solution to monitor your energy expenses

I recently bought their sensor. The delivery was super quick – it arrived faster than I expected, which was a nice surprise. The installation process was straightforward, thanks to the clear step-by-step instructions provided. I’m not exactly a tech expert, but I had it up and running without any trouble.
What I love most is being able to track my energy consumption at the appliance level. It’s eye-opening to see exactly how much energy each device is using.
Another cool thing is how user-friendly the app is – everything’s presented in a way that’s easy to understand. Definitely recommend this sensor.

It is too early to review as the app has not gathered enough information

Ok this is a tricky bit of hardware to review. The main issue I’ve had is that the sensor does not seem to be that accurate, ie under reading by about 30%, and it is also slow to respond to changes in loading. Been doing detailed comparisons with my elec meter (which I do trust) but yet to find a real pattern to the differences, so I can’t recommend the sensor as an alternative to an in home meter display. That said I was more interested in whether it could do the disaggregation. My sensor has been in place about a week and is starting to learn what is in the house but I’m not yet convinced about the results. Most of my usage is just put down to standby activities, and it is not picking up kitchen appliances yet. Maybe it will get there but I’m not holding my breath. If you can get it at a discount and are curious about energy use then could be worth it, but if you want really good data go for proper metering at socket or circuit level. Alas I don’t think this is the shortcut I hoped it would be.

Good device, small, easy to install, the best with disaggregation available in Europe as far as I can tell. So far it seems to provide accurate information, although it's still in the learning phase as far as identifying devices. The app interface is good but I wish I could view the data on a computer, even as an exported csv. It would be nice if we could provide feedback to help the AI learn from its mistakes, as described in the Continuous Learning page of the website. I hope the app evolves to allow setting the energy provider and currency.. but then I knew when I bought it that it was meant for the British market.

I installed the Voltaware system about a week ago. Setup took about 20 mins including connecting to WiFi and app configuration.

I have found the app easy to use, I find it insightful and useful. Snapshot usage is helpful but there are also a lot of other data analysis tools included with daily, weekly and monthly reports available. Even during this first week I have noticed the software begin to recognise my equipment as it comes on and off. Voltaware state their AI learns as the system is being used daily and state clearly it can take a month to get up to full speed on the device recognition and data gathering- one week in and I can already see big improvements.

Overall very pleased and it is a system I wish had been developed years ago.

I have had Voltaware for two months now and the Voltaware Home app is really easy to use. My favorite features are the live power mode and monthly reports. Initially, some of my results were slightly inaccurate but the customer support team quickly helped me.

The voltaware device makes wild guesses as to what is using electricity! Fails to pick up our major users: heat pump and EV. Lumps most use as fridge/freezer, then sends alert that fridge is overusing!
No response from feedback.
The device is a complete waste of money: do not buy!

Revised after feedback 20.11.23: Voltaware have apologised that they did not pick up on earlier feedback. They point out that our system is atypical, with solar PV. I was warned that this may cause difficulties. However the disaggregation remains inaccurate even when no PV generation.

Its a great app and set-up but needs to be able to quickly identify different types of device to be really useful. For instance, underfloor electric heating is picked up as an EV charging, there is nothing for electric hot-water taps etc. Nothing to pick up electric devices like laptops/playstations etc. Being able to determine these would be very inciteful.

Found Voltaware device quite flexible in the manner it can be fitted.

Octopus energy and Voltaware project so the service is evolving - good support from both organisations.

Love the Voltware device - given that I'm on Octopus Energy's Agile tariff (variable rate each half-hour calculated from the wholesale market daily) it's really insightful to see what's consuming electricity at the peak time of the day.
