A mediocre Top Loader Washing Machine…
I purchased a Westinghouse 8 kg Top Loader washing machine because I prefer the agitator-style machine because I was disappointed with the style that does not have an agitator. It seemed to have a good selection of programs, including a Gentle Wash, as stated on the dial. I would have thought a priority of a gentle wash would be a slow agitation speed for both wash and rinse cycles but no, it washes your clothes the same speed as the dirtiest clothes cycle. As a result, it completely tore open the seams of my $100 well made dogbed COVER. Not an item I would expect to wash by hand. So despite it claiming in the manual that the gental cycle was equalled to hand washing, now I'm faced with somehow repairing my product and then hand washing it from now on. I thought the machine was faulty after I tested the speed of the agitator on gentle and normal wash cycles, as the speed is exactly the same. I rang up for a warranty claim but was told that I was expecting too much. All my machines I've had in my 70+years have washed correctly on a gentle cycle. This machine is apparently made in Thailand. I intend contacting Consumer Affairs.
