What Hi-Fi? Avis 16

Somehow they have got my details and bombard me with advert links when I'm browsing. I found the 'contact us' page but there is no contact address other than a postal one. I can't get rid of them and it's driving me nuts!

I bought the what hifi awards 2025 and happened to compare it with the 2024 awards. It is exactly the same content! Many pages are identical, the wording is the same, just the price of items have been updated and the background colours changed. I wont be buying their awards magazine anymore, no effort has been put into this, Im just reading the same content every year.

My 1 star review is more reliable than their 5 stars reviews.
A lot of good products have a poor rating from them and some less capable products are sent "above and beyond expectations".
Definitely not reliable review in terms of star rating.

What Hi‑Fi? is useful and the team are diligent — you can find specs, comparisons and buying options in one place, which is genuinely convenient — but there are real problems. Too often they seem to praise whoever is paying the bill; money shapes coverage and that warps trust. The site is overloaded with ads and the email bombardment is relentless, which makes sober, critical appraisal harder to find. Reviews frequently slip into glorifying language rather than clear, measured assessment.
If What Hi‑Fi? wants readers to trust them again they should tighten disclosure of commercial relationships, reduce ad density, and double down on rigorous testing that highlights clear weaknesses.
That said, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it — at the end of the day they still have to sing for their supper, and for many readers the convenience and breadth of coverage are enough to keep coming back.

Rating: 3★ — useful, but take the praise with a grain of salt.

They got one star because there isnt a lower one.Do not, under any circumstances visit their website unless you are happy to be deluged with up to 10 adverts a day. I visited once, didn't sign up to anything and still get alerted by adverts throughout the day. They say that there is a way to stop it, but having followed the instructions on their site, it doesn't work. They do not accept phone calls, they are a nightmare and Iam currently investigating what action can be taken against them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Bought a TCL TV following a glowing review on their website. Only to find out it doesn't support major UK streaming apps (ever heard of BBC iPlayer???). Go somewhere else for proper advice. I'm having to deal with the fall out of trying to get my money back now...the joys!

Please do your own counting on their mainpage of the words prime and Amazon. Now you can guess where the money comes from. It’s amazing how obvious it is. They do call themselves an independent guide LOL

in italia comunque c'è la rivista Suono che mantiene una certa onestà intellettuale, oppure per i più esigenti e preparati un forum veramente di alto
livello(forum hi fi calabrese).
What hi fi si occupa anche di televisori, ma sono accecati dai coreani.. grandi sponsor di tutto.

Cons, payed to give good revieuw to audio equipment. They are just blah blah money laundring for audio equipment blown out proportion..

Make their reviews available FOC, which is welcome. And they tread the line between audiophile and ordinary consumer doing the reading well.

Insufferable browsing experience. Non-stop ads that pause your music, ironic for a website about appreciating music. Very clear from their reviews that they have no hands on experience with most of the products they’re talking about and that it’s possible to simply pay for the top spot on a list

Informative, easy to understand reviews, advice, features and news. They have been going for a long time in print and online and are trusted by brands, retailers and consumers.

They need real people to write real reviews based on real life. Seems to me most of these review sites use something for a week or two and miss loads of real life problems. These certainly do!

Looking at your reviews along side sonos shows you are easily influenced by money look at genuine people's recent reviews of products on here when advising people to spend hundreds of punds
