Amazing time with Wild Axis for the winter Toubkal expedition. From start to finish, it was absolutely seamless and so enjoyable. The best trip I have ever been on. From the initial communications and extensive kit list, as well as a group chat for any questions and queries. The expedition itself was incredibly well run, with no hold ups delays, and overall extremely well catered for, in all aspects. Went the extra mile every time and exceeded all my expectations. I literally cannot think of anything they could have done better. James and Shannon are lovely people who clearly have a love for adventure themselves, and their passion is evident throughout which makes a big difference. They foster a friendly and personal group expedition, where people really have the chance to connect. Every detail was considered and taken care of throughout our expedition. I will 100% be booking further expeditions through Wild Axis and would wholeheartedly recommend to anybody. 10/10. Thank you.

I’m just back from doing the Mount Toubkal winter summit with Wild Axis and it was the trip of a lifetime - it was better than I could ever have expected and Wild Axis made that happen.
They were very helpful before the expedition even began with great communication beforehand. They set up a WhatsApp group with everyone in the group a week before to provide more information and get everyone introduced. The information they provided on what equipment to bring was very helpful and covered everything you’ll need.

Everything was perfectly planned from the hiking itself and the routes, accomodation, meals etc. the accommodation and meals were excellent. The altitude acclimatisation day was great as it allowed us to adjust to hiking at this altitude, which a lot of other companies don’t offer. The hike to the summit is challenging so this makes a big difference.

The guides were very knowledgable about the route, hiking in general and the weather conditions. They were always happy to help and share their knowledge and I came away from the expedition having learned a lot. The itinerary included a winter skills session which was great craic and very informative. I learned a lot new skills to stay stage when hiking in winter conditions.

The group was also a good size with 7 people in total which meant a more personal and tailored experience compared to other similar expeditions I’ve been on.

Overall the trip was an unbelievable experience and I can’t thank James, Shannon and Abdul enough. I can’t wait to book the next expedition with Wild Axis!

Climbing Mount Toubkal was an unforgettable experience. The Atlas Mountains are beautiful, and reaching the summit felt like a real achievement.

Our guides were friendly, professional, and made sure everyone in the group was safe and comfortable. The trek itself is challenging but doable with grit and determination, the views along the way make it completely worth it. (Although it was cloudy at the summit 🤣)

The mountain refuge was basic but had everything needed for a night’s rest before the summit push. Food was surprisingly good and filling after long days of hiking.

A great adventure overall—definitely recommend!

So we booked onto the mount Toubkal winter trip and from before the trip even started wild axis expeditions helped us so much prepare with constant communication on what gear was required and the conditions of the mountain. With a smaller group of around 7 compared to the large group sizes often found when booking through get you guide, the trip felt very personal and catered. With the trip being 5 days, wild axis expeditions had sorted everything from meals and accommodation in Marrakech to acclimatisation hikes and stays in riads up the mountain all whilst we had our own guide and chef for the trip. Both of which were top of their game and incredibly supportive. Each of the days spent with the expedition group was well planned and delivered, and it truly made you feel part of a team. The expedition team’s knowledge on the area and the hike itself was extensive and no question went un-answered. The team was very inclusive and supportive, as a type 1 diabetic, attempting such a climb for the first time was scary yet the expeditions leaders and guide ensured I was safe and comfortable and that I made it to the top and down. I had such an incredible experience with so many memory’s and photos I simply cannot wait to book another adventure with them!

The winter toubkal trek was incredible with everything being planned out to great lengths. The small group allowed everyone to get close and build friendships to help eachother out when things got tough and James and Shannon were incredibly knowledgeable and genuine people willing to help and support to allow us to get the most out of the trip.
The trip was really fun, the food was amazing, the accommodations were awesome, it was all around amazing. I would recommend this to anyone!

The most incredible trip! I couldn’t stop smiling! The trip was made very easy by the information given before, a group WhatsApp so we could get to know each other a bit before the trip and all their expert knowledge throughout! The local food given throughout the trip was delicious and the accommodations were also amazing, with great views and comfy beds. James and Shanon are so cool and created the best challenge in the most enjoyable way! Would 100% recommend

We are back from a 5-day Mount Toubkal trip with Wild Axis Expeditions and it was excellent.

This was my second trip with them and once again, everything ran smoothly, with great organisation, an amazing mountain guesthouse, and a well paced itinerary. I climbed with my partner and we both felt supported the whole way. Our guide Abdul was brilliant, knowledgeable, professional, and always looking out for us.

Summiting Toubkal was an incredible experience. The sunrise was something else, and while it was tough and challenging at times, it made reaching the top even more rewarding. Thank you!!!

I did their winter Toubkal expedition and I was a bit nervous beforehand, but Shannon really put my mind at ease and explained everything clearly from the start. The whole trip was incredible and special mention to food to our cook Omar as the food was outstanding.

Our guide Abdul was fantastic, always supportive and looking out for us. It was tough going, but with Abdul’s help I made it to the top. The sunrise, I’m still speechless about.

Very good, very professional and welcoming. Would recommend, definitely some unique trips worth looking at.

Loved every second of this amazing experience, every aspect ran very smoothly from airport pick up, the stay at the wonderful riads in Marrakech and Imlil, and the amazing freshly cooked food. James and Shannon were extremely friendly and passionate about what they do, and passed on all their experience during the whole trip, as did our wonderful guide. The scenery and environment was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyed every step of the trekking. Morrocco is a place everyone should visit and definitely recommend an experience with Wild Axis. Thank you guys, can't wait to return.

Everything was smooth running from airport transfers to accomodation and guides, even the food. The entire 5 day trip didn't have a single hiccup, it all went swimmingly.

For a tour company that is relatively new, I would have had no idea, everything is professional, Shannon and James really have this dialled in.

Any problems or queries I could message before the trip and they were with us the entire time, I'd happily go out my way to make sure my future trips will be with them over any other expedition company.

Toubkal wasn't just your normal 2 day trip,it was a thought out, logical 5 day expedition including an appropriate acclimatization peak and more time to soak in the culture of Morocco. It wasn't a money grabbing rush and go, there was no time pressure and constraints of what I've experienced in the past.

You're missing out if you don't book in a trip with them!

I recently completed a Mount Meru trek with my partner through Wild Axis Expeditions and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The organisation and guiding were excellent, and the whole trip felt safe, professional, and well paced. The scenery was incredible throughout — from dense forest and open moorland to dramatic volcanic ridges and crater views near the summit. One of the highlights was the wildlife on the lower slopes — we saw giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, monkeys, and a wide variety of birds, which made the trek feel like a true wilderness journey. The team were supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the mountain, which added a lot to the overall experience. It was a challenging but hugely rewarding climb and we’d absolutely recommend the trip to anyone looking for a well-run adventure with stunning landscapes and unforgettable wildlife.

My partner and I went on a Wild Axis Expeditions trip to Mt Meru in Tanzania, and it was honestly one of the most memorable experiences we’ve ever had.

The whole team was amazing. The food cooked by Imra was top-class - proper, comforting meals after long days on the mountain. Jumar and Andrew, our porters, went above and beyond every single day, waking us up each morning, bringing warm water so we could wash, and tending to our every need with genuine warmth and smiles.

Our guide Hatib was outstanding and incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife, which added so much to the experience as we moved through the mountain.

Shannon and James were both outstanding throughout and clearly very experienced. We always felt well looked after without it ever feeling over-managed. We joined them while they were testing and refining this route for future trips, which meant everything was approached thoughtfully, safely, and with real attention to detail.

The final push to the summit was tough going, but absolutely worth every step. The sunrise views are something we’ll never forget - completely surreal. And the wildlife… giraffes, monkeys, buffalo - seeing all of that on a mountain trek was just mind-blowing.

We can’t recommend Wild Axis Expeditions highly enough. This felt like a true expedition rather than a packaged trek, and we’d do it all again in a heartbeat. We’re already talking about coming back to take on Kilimanjaro next.

Having never been to Morocco before, it was the adventurous itinerary and the affordability that attracted me to this trip. I hoped that this itinerary would take me into remote out-of-the-way places that would best present Morocco's wild mountain and desert landscapes. I was not disappointed. The itinerary was outstanding, from the Anti-Atlas to the northern Sahara, and then back over the High Atlas on the return. The ground support team and logistics were excellent, and professionally delivered. Very warm and friendly. The accomodation was great, giving opportunities to get to know Berber culture. Those villages in the valleys of the Anti-Atlas were unforgettable. The drivers and their trusty Toyota Landcruisers were excellent. Those vehicles are the best for trips like this. And the Tinariwen soundtrack as we travelled was perfect. The cuisine was outstanding and abundant! Despite the physical activity I don't think I lost weight on this trip! We managed to dodge the atypical winter weather to some extent, finding windows that gave us a real mountain experience in the Anti-Atlas. (At this time of year definitely bring gear to be prepared for a range of temperatures and conditions). While the itinerary was designed to deliver a range of experiences over the 6 days/nights I would recommend that this itinerary could be extended to include a night in Agadir at the beginning and an extra day/night at the end to best appreciate what the route has to offer. The day extension at the end would allow quality time in the Draa Valley with its endless escarpments and date palms in the valleys, a quintessential part of Morocco that I would like to return to. This would help break up the long drive from Chegaga Erg to Marrakech, which is quite a stretch. As someone who has guided trips of a similar nature in other parts of the world, I can say with confidence that this was an excellent trip. Would like to do it again sometime, maybe in the Spring . Thanks James and Shannon for getting this trip on the road!

I’ve just finished the Atlas Mountains to Sahara trip with Wild Axis Expeditions and it was an amazing experience. The local team in Morocco were awesome, super friendly, knowledgeable, and great to be around all week. James was brilliant with the pre trip planning and gave really solid advice on kit and what to expect, which made everything feel straightforward and well organised from the start.

The food was unreal and especially impressive considering how remote we were. Huge credit to Hussein who cooked incredible meals every day. We climbed mountains, trekked over remote passes, visited Berber villages and nomadic communities, and finished by camping under the stars in the Sahara. Off the beaten track, we didn’t see another tourist the entire trip. This felt like real exploration.

A proper adventure well run from start to finish. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for something genuinely different.

Myself and my 17 year old son travelled together looking for a shared adventure. We are complete novices and very much city boys when it comes to this sort of thing, so we honestly had no idea what to expect.
From the very beginning, communication from Wild Axis Expeditions was excellent. It was clear, concise, informative, and reassuring. Everything was explained in detail, from the equipment and clothing required to the itinerary and what to expect day to day, which gave us confidence going into the trip.

We arrived at Agadir Airport as planned and were met by James, Shannon, Abdul the main guide who is an extremely experienced Berber mountaineer, Hussein the chef, Abdul junior, and Shafiqe as drivers who also helped with cooking. The team were waiting for us exactly as arranged. Everyone was friendly, professional, and easy to get along with, and we all bonded very quickly.

We set off in Toyota 4x4s, stopping for lunch en route before continuing to our first guesthouse overlooking the stunning Tislit Gorge. The scenery was breathtaking, and we enjoyed a short introductory hike before settling in for the night. Dinner was freshly prepared by the team and followed by traditional Berber tea. The guesthouse location was incredible, perched above the gorge and surrounding mountains. Nights were very cold, as this was Morocco’s coldest winter in over 12 years, so a good sleeping bag is essential, although extra blankets were provided.

Day two began with a hearty breakfast before driving through remote villages to our starting point at around 2,200 metres. Due to heavy snowfall, our original plan to trek Mount Siroua was changed to Mount Guilim, which is still nearly 2,900 metres. This flexibility was one of the big strengths of Wild Axis. There is always a Plan A, B, or C, with safety and group ability clearly prioritised.
Our group included a mix of ages and experience levels, and as complete novices we felt fully supported throughout. The trek was demanding, with thinning air, strong winds, snow, and steep sections, but it was incredibly rewarding. The sense of achievement at the summit was huge. I trained beforehand with long walks and hill running and still found it tough, so following the kit and fitness guidance from Wild Axis is important to get the most from the experience.
The descent was much quicker than the ascent, and we were welcomed back with freshly made crepes and coffee prepared by Hussein. Facilities were basic but clean, and having warm water felt like a real luxury in such a cold mountain village. Dinner that evening was again outstanding, filling, healthy, and exactly what was needed after a long day on the mountain.

Day three involved exploring the cliff dwellings of Tizgui and walking through saffron terraces as snow fell, turning the valley into a winter wonderland. Weather conditions meant the walk was shortened, but the afternoon was spent exploring deeper into the Tislit Gorge via new routes, ravines, and peaks. Wildlife spotting added another layer to the experience, including the highlight of seeing a Bonelli’s Eagle hunting, which was a rare and special sight. After a long trek we returned for mint tea, biscuits, and another excellent dinner. We even purchased a hand woven rug from the guesthouse owner, which felt like a meaningful local connection.

Day four took us from freezing mountain conditions to the Sahara Desert in a single day, which was an incredible contrast. The drive itself was spectacular, with constantly changing scenery including lakes, mountains, oases, villages, and wildlife. Lunch was freshly cooked at an oasis before entering Iriqui National Park, where the 4x4s really came into their own. We explored dried salt lakes full of fossils, encountered nomads and camels, and walked sections of the dunes before arriving at our remote desert camp.
Watching the sunset from the dunes and then seeing the stars appear was unforgettable, especially coming from London where you rarely see the night sky like that. Dinner was cooked over the fire, followed by stories, laughter, and a cold but magical night under the stars.

Day five was a long but scenic drive to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains with plenty of stops for photos and coffee. A hot shower at the hotel was very welcome, followed by dinner on a rooftop terrace and an evening exploring the lively markets.

The final morning included breakfast and a last walk through the souks before heading to the airport.

Wild Axis Expeditions are professional, well organised, and deliver genuine adventure. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to explore the world properly, not just visit it.
Most importantly, for me I had a rewarding adventure and priceless bonding time with my son.

I did a weekend Wales trip with James where we scrambled in the Glyders and took on Snowdon via Crib Goch. I’d never done anything like this before, but he made it feel safe, fun and completely achievable. He really knows his stuff, pushes you in the right way, and it turned into an epic weekend overall.
I’d trust him on any adventure extremely knowledgeable with a really interesting background.

Had the best 3 days hiking in Snowdonia with James from Wild Axis Expeditions. He knew all the best routes and got us up some epic scrambling peaks. Felt super safe the whole time and had loads of fun.

Can’t recommend him enough!
