Unprofessional, Unaccountable, and Negligent Representation
I am writing this review to publicly expose the shocking lack of professionalism, competence, and duty of care demonstrated by the Workers of England Union, specifically Union Representative Kimberley Rogers and General Secretary Stephen Morris. I strongly advise anyone considering joining this union: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. From the outset, the representation provided in my complex case (involving disability discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 and a TUPE transfer) was completely ineffective, chaotic, and negligent. 1. Shocking Unprofessionalism & Unavailability:
My union representative, Kimberley Rogers, maintained an entirely unacceptable pattern of communication. I was subjected to text messages and emails sent at 12:00 AM, 1:00 AM, and even 3:00 AM. Crucially, Kimberley never disclosed that she was working only part-time, nor did her official email ever have an "Out of Office" auto-responder. I was kept entirely in the dark about her availability, leaving me stranded and unsupported at critical junctions. 2. Complete Failure in ACAS Early Conciliation & Legal Deadlines:
Kimberley demonstrated a profound lack of knowledge regarding ACAS procedures, strict statutory deadlines, and strategic negotiation. Rather than offering professional guidance, reviewing my settlement proposal, or establishing a coherent legal strategy, she simply forwarded raw documents to the employer without context or preparation. 3. Direct Obstruction & Harm to My Legal Position:
Because of Kimberley’s passive-aggressive and obstructive approach, the employer’s legal representative explicitly cited her conduct as the primary reason why dialogue broke down. In official ACAS responses, the employer directly accused Kimberley of blocking constructive communication, reading prepared scripts, and actively preventing direct, meaningful dialogue. Her actions severely harmed my case and gave the employer a justification to refuse conciliation. 4. Cold, Heartless Dismissal by Management:
When I reached out to escalate these failures and complain to General Secretary Stephen Morris, instead of investigating the representative's misconduct or offering legal support to protect a vulnerable, disabled union member, I was met with total coldness and indifference. I was abruptly informed via email by both Kimberley and Stephen Morris that the union had "no capacity" or resource left for my case, effectively abandoning me right before the Employment Tribunal (ET1) deadline Conclusion:
This union takes membership fees from hardworking workers when they are most vulnerable, only to provide cold, heartless, and incompetent representation, before abandoning them when real legal work is required. I have officially cancelled my membership and Direct Debit. Save your money and seek proper legal advice elsewhere.

Great support, highly recommend this Union.
I received support from Workers of England Union during a difficult period in which i was eventually retired from the NHS due to ill health.
Previous encounters with specialised nursing unions had left a sour taste. However, WOE provided tremendous support. My rep communicated promptly with me, was professional, knowledgeable and a staunch advocate for me when my employer needed to be reminded of employment law, as well as following their own policies correctly. He was experienced across a broad range and understood the process i was going through.
On top of that, he showed great support and understanding of the emotional difficulties, even arranging counselling via the union, (my counsellor was also brilliant) to support me through this difficult time. My employer failed to offer any practical support, rather just pointing me to an app...great.
Whatever field of work, I would highly recommend The Workers of England Union.

I am grateful for the range of services and guidance provided to me by Workers of England Union when I was going through my stressful workplace grievance.
They provided me with exceptional range of services to assist me through out the challenging journey. Thank you to Merlyn (Trade Union Rep) for the support and accompanying me during grievance meeting, Rob Tilbrook for legal matters and the counselling support (Tasha) during my difficult period with my employer. I am also impressed with the efficient and kindness of admin support staff who did an amazing job of coordinating the efforts from start to end.
I would definitely recommend Workers for England Union for workplace employment advice and representation.

Having just left the Unite union for their inaction, I thought I'd look at the WOEU. For a union that is constantly attacked by other unions they had the highest rating on this platform.

Workers of England
Title: Inept, unprofessional and deeply unsupportive Employment Tribunal support
My experience with the Workers of England Union was extremely poor. This included my dealings with Steve Morris, whom I understood to hold a senior role in the North West, Niall McCrae, and another part time representative. Taken together, the support I received gave me little confidence or reassurance.
In my opinion, the standard of communication, professionalism and support was inept, unprofessional and wholly inadequate for a union assisting a member before an Employment Tribunal.
I required clear, competent and practical support with my Employment Tribunal matter, including assistance with the ET1 and ET3 process. These are important procedural stages, not minor administrative details. They can affect how a case is understood, presented and progressed. At that point, I needed careful guidance, clear communication and proper support.
That was not my experience.
I am not suggesting that any union can guarantee the outcome of Tribunal proceedings. My concern is with the standard of support, communication and preparation I received before the Tribunal.
In my view, the support provided was ineffective, dismissive and unsupportive. I did not feel properly guided through the process, nor did I feel that the evidence I provided was treated with the seriousness it required.
One particularly concerning issue was that evidence I had sent was referred to by Mr Morris as "twaddle". I found that remark insulting, dismissive and deeply unprofessional. Evidence in an Employment Tribunal matter should be reviewed carefully and discussed properly. It should not be dismissed using crude or belittling language.
Communication was consistently poor. During my most recent telephone conversation with Mr Morris, he ended the call on three occasions. On one of those occasions, this happened whilst I was trying to explain my position. I also felt that he repeatedly spoke over me, interrupted me and prevented me from properly setting out my concerns.
I have also had to change representatives, including Mr Morris, and then a further two times. Despite this, I still did not feel assured that I was receiving the level of support I had paid for, or the standard of representation I would reasonably expect from a union representative.
In my opinion, the handling of my case showed poor judgement, poor communication and an inept approach to member support. The lack of meaningful assistance with the ET1 and ET3 process was particularly concerning given the seriousness of Employment Tribunal proceedings.
This review reflects my own experience of dealing with Steve Morris, Niall McCrae, another part time representative, and the wider support I received from the Workers of England Union. I would not feel able to recommend this level of union support to anyone facing serious workplace issues or preparing for an Employment Tribunal. I was left unsupported, poorly advised and lacking confidence that I was receiving the representation I had paid for or reasonably expected.

There for me when I needed them.
I joined around Covid time after seeing the great work they did for people who had lost their jobs through tyrannical rules - the only union, to the best of my knowledge, who stood up for such unfortunates (successfully I might add).
Never actually thought I'd need to use them. Lo and behold, none of us can tell what the future holds and suddenly I found myself facing disciplinary action for some hurty words I was silly enough to put in print.
They answered my queries promptly; told me exactly what to expect in terms of the whole convoluted process that I was unfamiliar with. And sent me a great rep, Jim, who knew his stuff and had exactly the right attitude when dealing with my employers. Can't thank them enough and will continue to be a member for many years to come.

Great union!
I'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to Michael for his calm and measured advice and guidance in a difficult situation. It's always been a pleasure and privilege to have been able to speak with you. Your positive outlook is a true guiding light in the dark.
Thank you!
Representation with Meetings and Disciplinary Hearing
I wanted some advice with the meetings I was having with my employer and representation in my disciplinary hearing.
I found all members of their team helpful and the experience from start to finish was satisfactory.
I hope that I won't need their services in future but I think that I have had value for money from my membership with their organisation.

Tribunal Disaster
Thank you for your long awaited response, which you have had much time to devise. At no time at all were you ever misled about the circumstances of my case. Throughout the whole process from beginning to end, I kept the union informed from the ET1 form through to the ET3 even while left alone to deal with ACAS I still attempted to liaise with yourselves. However, your union failed to show interest in the ET1 to ET2 parts that were left to me to complete as you did not want to get involved at this early stage. Furthermore, it was at the ET3 stage that you made the decision to get involved after reviewing mine and my employers evidence and were supplied with all the information you needed. When I finally submitted the E3 form to your ET inbox, it sat there for almost a week unread until I was forced to make a phone call to your call centre (if that is what it is). The Tribunal has yet to give a ruling so I do not know how it is that you think that I misled anyone let alone yourselves. All you have done is show how dishonest and deceitful you truly are. My pleasure is that now I have left your hopeless union, you will not be privy to the Tribunal decision when it arrives whether that is in my favour or against.

I would like to share my personal experience with this union, and I assure you that every word I say is the complete truth without any lies.
Unfortunately, they do not provide any support in case of disputes. You are left to handle your grievances on your own without any assistance. You will have to contact ACAS and go through the entire process by yourself, including filling out the ET1 form.
They are unconcerned about those who are disabled. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Regarding the positive reviews, I am uncertain as it seems they selectively choose whom to assist. However, I can confirm that when you join this union, you are required to pay a membership fee. In times of work-related problems, you are left to deal with them alone.
Personally, I would have preferred if the monthly membership fee I paid went towards supporting charities or helping homeless people, instead of this fraudulent Union.

A professional yet personal Union
The Workers of England Union (WEU) were recommended to me by a friend and colleague of mine. I work in the mental health field and wanted a union who understood workplace concerns.
I had a problem in the work place and WEU were good in the support they gave me. Professional and polite admin. staff. Good union rep. help who provided support at work meetings and at certain points, legal support was eventually given, too.
If you want a friendly union, I would recommend joining WEU. The monthly fees are cheap.

Prompt and professional support
I worked in elderly care for 6 yrs and had joined Unison originally. Sadly, they were unable to support any issues that deviated from govt policy. Phone calls were redirected or went to voicemail, emails got 'out of office' replies. My rep offered to revise a letter to my employer but, after 2 months, still had not done so. Luckily, a colleague had joined WEU so I switched. Like night vs day...every email replied to the same day, draft responses and advice provided within 24 hrs. Support and knowledgeable reps provided every step of the way. Helped me to successfully claim unfair dismissal. I'm now receiving excellent support for my employment tribunal claim for harassment and discrimination. An emotional journey but I couldn't have asked for better service. Thank you!

Great Union
WEU rep was really responsive and provided great advice that was on point. We got a good outcome from my grievance and it really helps when the WEU rep isn't part of the organisation workforce. We did the HR meetings online which I was a bit worried about initially but the meetings went well on Teams with plenty of 121 support before and after the meetings. Nothing but praise for Workers of England Union.

Avoid at all cost!!!
Shame they didnt spend the same time on the reply below as they did on my case... Avoid at all cost, they are !!!. my employer gave me a false reference and the union (Stephen) did nothing to challenge them. I wrote all the challenging emails and they would simply forward them onto the employer without any input. They dragged out the process and did nothing to get the employer to provide evidence. After all that I was told to go to ACAS for deformation.... also the office manager literally shouted and screamed at me down the phone when I questioned their poor support.
