I was a loyal SleepMe customer for years…then found 8 Sleep!

I was a loyal OOLER customer for years and eventually upgraded to the Sleepme Dock Pro. For a long time, I absolutely loved the product. It had a dramatic impact on both my sleep quality and recovery, and I recommended it to many people.

Unfortunately, my experience changed when one side of our king mattress stopped functioning properly.

To Sleepme's credit, their customer service representatives were always pleasant, polite, and responsive. The problem was that they ultimately couldn't provide a solution. I was told the company no longer has the staffing to perform repairs and instead offers replacement parts and repair kits. While that sounds helpful in theory, there were no detailed instructions, troubleshooting guidance, or technical support available.

Determined to fix the issue myself, I tore the unit apart four separate times. I replaced both pumps and the hoses, spending considerable time and money trying to diagnose the problem. When I returned to Sleepme for additional assistance, I was essentially told there was nothing more that could be done and that I should discard the unit and purchase a new one.

The explanation given was that I had used purified water from my home's high-end filtration system rather than distilled water. I understand how mineral buildup could potentially cause issues, but when I inspected the components I replaced, I found no evidence of significant scaling or deposits. I followed all other recommended maintenance procedures and found it difficult to accept that the only solution was to throw away an expensive product.

What was particularly frustrating was that during the final correspondence, Sleepme provided instructions for priming the pump—information that would have been incredibly valuable months earlier during my troubleshooting process. By that point, I had already given up and purchased an Eight Sleep system because I no longer felt comfortable investing additional money into a product that had no viable repair path or service support.

The good news is that the Eight Sleep has been an outstanding upgrade.

While it does require a subscription, I don't find the cost unreasonable given the value it provides. The tubing is far less noticeable than it was with the Sleepme system, and both sides of the bed are controlled by a single, very quiet pod. It also uses significantly less water.

The feature set is on another level. The hot flash monitoring has been especially beneficial for my wife which automatically adjust the temperatures...then set it back to her comfort level, and the built-in temperature adjustment buttons on the side of the mattress make nighttime adjustments effortless. The daily sleep reports provide meaningful insights into our recovery and sleep quality, including snoring duration, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep stages, and overall sleep performance.

So while I remain grateful for the years of better sleep I experienced with OOLER and Sleepme products, the lack of repair support ultimately drove me to look elsewhere. Based on my experience so far, Eight Sleep delivers a superior product, a more refined user experience, and significantly more value for anyone serious about investing in their health, recovery, and sleep quality.

I would confidently recommend Eight Sleep to anyone looking to improve their sleep and overall wellness.

Customer Service sucks

Service sucks! I’ve been trying to return this item for a week now and between the BOTS and customer service reps who ask the same questions and send the same broken link that doesn’t work I am getting NOWHERE! So disappointed! Buyer beware!!!

I have an 8 sleep pod 3 just over 2…

I have an 8 sleep pod 3 just over 2 years old pod stopped cooling or heating
so even though I had a primary and backup credit card on file the app expired and stopped working obviously the pod stopped working as well. I manually re upped the app and the pod never started to work. I did the prime 3 times insured filled with water and peroxide the app claims the temp is being adjusted but the pod is maintaining no temp change

I contacted 8 sleep support at first it seemed they wanted to quickly help me resolve the issue but very quickly all I got was send pictures or a video explaining the issue . I already explained the issue nothing on my end has changed so there is nothing with the placement of anything that changed it has worked perfectly for the 2 years and then just stopped. I replied I am not sending a video or pictures so what is the troubleshooting steps. I got nothing but crickets from 8 sleep not a freaking word I found actual help on line searches than I got from anyone at 8 sleep

today I plan to do a complete reset and see if that works. since there is a 5 year warranty and it is 2 years old if I can't get this working today I plan to contact 8 sleep 1 more time for warranty claim then I will forward the issue to my states AG

DO NOT PURCHASE

DO NOT PURCHASE. Their systems fail directly after their warranty period. For such an expensive product, you expect it to work. They will give you a discount to replace, which I have done for the bed cover. Now the actual Pod has failed and they're telling me I have to purchase a new system. I know I am not the only one. Feels like an absolute scam. SAVE YOUR MONEY - AVOID!

Requirement to carry the app you pay for that's questionable

I purchased the ultra pod 4. Very spendy. In order to keep the warranty 8 sleep requires you have their app to the tune of $199-$399 annually. I personally have no reason to believe the stats are accurate. I spoke with a rep when the app said it took me 1 minute to fall asleep. That nite I had a difficult time falling asleep so likely closer to 1 hour. I asked rep how I was supposed to trust any of the stats as a result. I was told oh well that's the one stat we're having issues with. Really? What are the things measured to determine any of the stats. Seems they'd share several of the same measurements ie respiration, heart rate etc. I was dismissed. Your warranty is no good if you do not carry the app for the first 2 years and my understanding is any upgrades made to the pod's functionality are not received either. Hardly seems right if they truly stand behind their product. It will be 2 years this Aug at which time I'll be canceling the app. Why pay several hundred dollars for an app you're unable to trust. I wouldn't spent 8k on an unreliable product again. I was at a retreat recently and more that 1 person said the app requirement is why they will not purchase an 8 sleep. Makes sense to me!

While the subscription model may not be…

While the subscription model may not be for everyone, and I can understand why it draws criticism, the product itself is outstanding. I’ve been using the Pod 5 with the blanket for just a couple of weeks, and it’s already made a meaningful difference in my daily life. I’m sleeping longer and more deeply than before, and the combination of features and health tracking is both rich and thoughtfully designed.

Beyond disappointment

I’m beyond disappointed with 8 Sleep’s business model. After spending a fortune on their expensive product, they lock basic features like scheduling on/off times and setting alarms behind a paywall. You’re left with the bare minimum of manually setting on/off every day - enough to make sure you can’t say the product doesn’t work, but it feels like a cheap bait-and-switch. The Copilot feature is underwhelming, and the sleep stats are wildly inaccurate, making them useless.
Save your money or pick a brand that respects its customers.

Would give it a higher review but..

Would give it a higher review, but this pricey product does not include basic daily on/off scheduling. They make you buy a $199/year subscription to be able to control the product! It works well, but should include some control functionality other than a manual on/off switch. The company did provide this prior to 2023 and has grandfathered in those customers, so its obviously something that was part of the product when I purchased, but they won't grandfather me on it. Not good customer service.

Poor Returns Experience

My review isn't because of the product, but because of the customer service with the returns procedure. I've been trying to return my Pod 4 for nearly 2 weeks. I was told it would picked up on 20th (it wasn't), 23rd (it wasn't again), and now 26th (again no-show). To get any updates on this return I've had to go via their website chat, email and call directly. With this 2 week delay, they're witholding funds when I'm within the 30-day returns period and did my due diligence to swiftly log a return. I would proceed with caution.

EightSleep review: deceptive marketing - Frustrated with subscription service pricing

I got my Pod 3, around a year ago. I was pretty happy and satisfied overall, and I have been telling great things about EightSleep to many of my friends and colleagues over the last year.

While I was getting the EightSleep, I looked at pricing, and I told myself I don't need the "AutoPilot" feature, because I don't need the "AI" functionality. At the time I was purchasing the EightSleep, "AutoPilot" was marketed to me (or I got the impression of) as an "AI functionality assistant". My membership expired like a month ago, and now I can't even turn on my Pod every day automatically (without AI functionality) at a given time of the day. I do not want (or need) the "AI functionality". I just need it to turn on and off at the given time of the day to a manually set temperature value. Because of this, I can't really use my Pod anymore. I have looked and over the last month (after my membership expired) I haven't really used it. Because I forget to turn it on and off. This makes me sad.

I sent an email to the Customer Service asking to extend my membership with just the basic functionality to just set a manual temperature value for a given time of the day without any of the "AI functionality", but they said no.

I feel their marketing strategy while selling the Pod was "membership = AI functionality" and now taking away the very basic functionality was very deceiving to say the least.

Coercion

The pod is great, but if you don't pay extremely expensive subscription, they will block the most basic and simple functionalities so it becomes practically unusable. Not what I would expect from equipment worth thousands of dollars.
