AJMovers Avis 

This company was booked via Anyvan but AJMovers were the company who completed the move, and this is the company I’m reviewing! Uncommunicative, quite intimidating actually. They hold all your household items on the vans until you’ve paid them. “You pay now” was the polite request!! A £600 job via Anyvan ended up being £1300 (£100 more than the local professional and friendly company I’d rejected). I was happy for some extras after I’d sent an updated inventory as I had no choice but to agree at the 11th hour but this was a shock. If you use them, pack everything yourself (they don’t label anything and dump it where they choose at the other end & add on charges). They also charged us extra for packaging materials which should’ve been included in the quote according to the job sheet & the Anyvan representative I checked it with. I would complain but I found them to be seriously humourless, intimidating people!
I’m sure they have every come back well rehearsed to all complaints, making it look like everyone else’s fault, so I will put it down to a lesson well learned!

Having now read through some of the other negative reviews (I wish I’d read them earlier), there appears to be a pattern of customer blaming & petty excuses to add fees. Where the company, claiming to be the professionals/experts should be using common sense and an amount of acceptable flexibility, they allow the excuses of the subcontractors to pike on additional fees for the tiniest reason, then scour the original request for any reason to justify it. Anyone who has moved house knows there’s rarely a perfect situation, true professionals and proper moving companies don’t use standard blips to blame or use ‘gotcha’ tactics to rinse customers!

Great experience, Andy was very easy to contact and answered all questions, the pick up & dismantling of the furniture was very efficient, delivery London to The Hague was prompt, and the drop off & rebuilding of the furniture was once again super quick! Very professional, would use again.

Great work, reliable and quick, always responding to enquiries.

This is a review I posted on Shiply:
Warning these people are unreliable. To fit in with flights and availability for delivery, dates were agreed weeks before for the collection and delivery. Several requests for the phone number of the crew to co-ordinate timings were ignored and the n umbers provided by Shiply were not answered on the day of collection. They gave the most unbelievable excuse for not collecting to the effect that they had a very similar job the same day from the same rural postcode in France to the postcode next to ours in rural UK. The UK postcode is one short road and I checked every house and no delivery had been made or was expected. Avoid these people like the plague !

Andy and his team were spot on - great communication , professional, friendly and highly recommended.

These guys were great. They moved an upright piano for me. The house the piano was collected from told me the two men who picked up the piano took great care. At my end I was very impressed with how they took great pains to move the piano very slowly and cautiously round a tight entrance into my front door.
The communication was excellent and responsive, especially as I always ask a lot of questions before hiring someone to deliver a precious piano.
They do have genuine insurance too - as Andy was quite happy to show me the certificate- unlike another person quoting on this site who claimed to have insurance, but basically hung up on me when I asked if he would be happy to show it to me.
So yes these guys are what they say on the tin, and I would definitely use them again.

Really impressive service - good communication from start to finish, the guys arrived bang on time and moved everything professionally and quickly. Also taking into account we have just moved to a 4th floor flat with no lift, they flew up and down the stairs. Made the day as stress free as possible.

I will 100% be using them for my next move.

AJ Movers were extremely professional. We moved a kitchen from Kent to France and they dealt with all the paperwork, everything was delivered and put away in an orderly fashion. Andy and his team were extremely helpful and I would highly recommend them.

I highly recommend Ajmovers, I was sooo stessed with my big moving from UK to France as I have to move all the stuff of my whole big house and it all went just like a letter in the post !!
They moved my furniture with care and they delivered it with the same care, not to mention the dismantling and remantling.
Really, I could not have wish for a better. The communication was smooth as they answered all of my questions before and during the moving.
No hidding cost, not to mention the reasonable price and the very friendly, smily team.

I can highly recommend AJ Movers to anyone, my move to France went like a dream. They moved a full house from UK to south of France with no issues, all paperwork accepted for customs and the lads worked incredibly hard within 2 hours they were done! hard working team who also assembled beds with no qualms.

After accepting their very competitive quote, the pandemic made pinning down a date for my job difficult. Despite this, Andy and team worked patiently to find a date that worked all round. The team were efficient, effective and really professional. I would undoubtedly use their services again and recommend them highly.

They were great. Answered every question in a timely manner. Got me through customs with ease. The people in the vans were fast and precise and organised to load and unload. No complaints and would highly recommend.

We took the time to prepare a detailed inventory of all the items to be moved from Paris to London, including pictures and dimension of everything. We received the quote, and agreed it, again, confirming (as asked) with a complete itemised list of what will be moved and the agreed price.
Come the pick-up day. We go through the flat and show what is to be taken.
No comment at that stage, although we pointed out some items that could only be stored in the van lengthwise (too tall for the can).
Workers quite efficient, pack about 90%, and then come back to us and tell us “Now, what do you want us to take, as there isn’t enough space for everything, and those wooden sides are too tall for our van”.
Very surprised, as everything was in the inventory. Spoke to Andy the manager over the phone. In summary, if we wanted the items to be moved, it would be in another van for an additional £ 400.
What was the point of sending an itemised list in the first instance? We had to empty the flat, too late to find any alternative, so we agreed.
Come the delivery. Workers look around, call their boss and tell us “There are few steps to get to your ground floor, that will be an additional £ 150”. Again, we pointed out that it was mentioned in our email, and, reluctantly, they agreed.

All that was after the saga about pick-up date. Was agreed a pick-up on Monday. On Thursday, AJMovers ask us whether they could do it on Sunday instead. We tried to be helpful, so changed our plans, asked additional friends to come helping us packing earlier, and confirmed on Friday that we could do that. Immediate response that Sunday may not be an option anymore, they will tell us. Saturday lunch time, no news. We asked about it and were told that we would be informed asap. Saturday 4pm, still no news, we don’t know whether pick-up on Sunday or Monday. We chased, and were told that we had no right to chase, as we hadn’t agreed immediately on Thursday for the proposed change of date.

So all in all, not a very good experience.

On the positive side, they definitely deserve 1 star for moving the piano. Clearly professionals used to do so.

Addendum: No booking reference were given by AJMovers, however, full email trail on 21st March 21 from email address shared through TrustPilot

Addendum 2: Response from AJMovers "We would like to assure you that matters such as this are taken seriously" sounds very much like "your call is important to us" when you are waiting on the phone to get an answer. After 5 days, haven't heard anything from AJMovers, which just shows how "important" such matters are to them.

Great experience with this company! Found them on Shiply offering a competitive price. Had to move some stuff from Switzerland over to England after clearing out my parents' house. Communication was excellent and the collection fast. The delivery time was outstanding! Less than 24 hours door to door! I paid the whole amount upfront and felt very confident. Friendly people, quick and efficient.
