Added a Radom Newsletter to my WSJ Sub

Added a random newsletter to my Wall St Journal online subscription without my explicit permission & billed me $32. They canceled the newsletter but refused to refund the $32 despite escalating to a manager! This is a deceptive & unethical practice that they continue to follow from other reviews I have seen. This is unbelievable for a company that is part of News Corp an $ 8+ Billion public company.

Not a reputable journalism company

Not a reputable journalism company. They publish paid pieces. Positive or negative depends on whether they want to tank or promote a company. Interferes with the stock market.

Crazy liberal bias

Crazy liberal bias for a supposedly unbiased news source. Lure you in with a cheap initial pice and quadruple it on the following year. Some good info but hard to stomach their info with the bias they have...very obvious. Supposedly good source of news...I call bullshit. Take with a grain of salt

Clueless on the new economy

If I could give Barron’s a zero, I would. This is the worst financial rag in the industry. It has been bashing Tesla stock for years and thankfully I didn’t listen, nor will I ever. They use AI to write about half of their articles and clearly don’t understand how the new economy works or how companies like Tesla have never been seen before. Elon Musk’s genius surpasses anyone seen in the past millennium and his understanding of how to turn ideas into products is singular. Their bias against Musk the man overshadows their ability to understand what he brings to the world and lack of insight extends throughout the new economy. Avoid them at all costs if you want to get sound financial advice.

Barron’s Customer Service Is an Absolute Joke — Stay Far Away

If I could give zero stars, I would.

I accidentally subscribed to Barron’s online and contacted them IMMEDIATELY to request a refund — literally minutes later. What followed was a masterclass in how NOT to treat customers.

Let me name names:

Eddie: Robotic and unhelpful. Gave me the “policy” spiel like a machine.

Ciindy (yes, spelled that way): Came across like she was reading off a script from 2005. Zero empathy, zero initiative.

Saul O., the so-called supervisor: The kingpin of this circus. He doubled down on refusing a refund despite every single indicator that this was an accidental charge and was flagged instantly.

Apparently, Barron’s thinks that stealing money from customers under the guise of “policy” is a solid business strategy. They’re happy to take your credit card, but not your concerns. Disgraceful.

Cancelled

Worst service model I've seen. Get your head out of your butts Barron's. You can't communicate with anyone without waiting for 20 minutes on the phone. I cancelled my subscription and was told I would have access to articles for the next few months until the Subscription End date. First day after cancellation...no access. The chatbot is a joke.

Ripped of by Barrons for a subscription I did not know I had

I called WSJ Customer Service re a charge of $29.37 on my credit card. After 20 mins. of the agent looking for what the charge is for, I was transferred to a supervisor who tells me that I had signed up for Barron’s subscription that was automatically renewed at $29.37 per month and that this charge could not be cancelled. I thought I had signed up for a subscription to WSJ @ $4 per month. When I stopped getting full access to the WSJ articles I thought my subscription was over and that was that. However, that was not that and now I am stuck with a $29.37 charge for something I didn’t even know I had and with no recourse of credit because, in the small print, I must have agreed to an automatic renewal at a significantly higher price. Shame on you, Dow Jones, WSJ, and Barrons for laying a bait and switch consumer trap and then ripping me off for $29.37.

Barron's used to be a very good publication

Barron's used to be a very good publication years ago when I lived in NY. I'm on a yearlong trial subscription and am rather disappointed with the variety and numbers of articles. It used to be much better and quite authoritative.

Be careful signing up for the…

Be careful signing up for the discounted introductory offer. It’s supposed to be for 7 weeks and they state on-line they will contact you prior to charging full price. I will attach. When I called to verify I hadn’t been charged a few days after the 7th week they said I had. I informed them that they had to contact me prior to charging and I had proof of that. Didn’t matter. Asked to talk to his supervisor. The foreign supervisor laughed at me and said he wouldn’t refund me. He said to call my CC company which I did. I explained the situation to them and they told me to fill out the requisite paperwork for fraud but they would need to cancel my card immediately. I felt it wasn’t worth the $17.99 so decided to write reviews about their fraudulent practices. They are owned by the Wall Street Journal who did the exact same thing. When I called their NY office I spoke to a gentleman who actually referred me to the language of not being charged until after being contacted on their internet site. Unfortunately unscrupulous contractors will do as they please.

Need to call USA to cancel - while the rep does everything to make you stay

Like the previous reviewer said, you can sign up for the subscription online but to cancel have to call United States, during American work hours (!) and spend ~30 minutes speaking to a sales lady who does everything she can to prevent you from canceling. For a European this is just ridiculous - I will not sign up for another American service in the future.
