Review of basic compressed air safety
This was an entry level general safety briefing that was aimed as a refresher for more experienced people or those new to the industry. I thought it was set at an appropriate level and suitable for all candidates, even if not based in the UK.
In addition the registration process was straightforward and easy complete.
Easy access to requested document

It is easy to buy guidance or references from BCAS. The guidances are relevant to food industries. Looking forward for other new guidances related to compressed air.

Very rapid response
The layout is hard to digest
The layout is hard to digest. The wording is accurate but not helpful for those trying to learn what each part or meaning is. The end of module tests are not forgiving, nor are they all multiple choice like most other tests, also if you make a spelling mistake you fail the question which is disheartening.
Overall my experience has not been positive nor informative.
Bad experience
At the time of the completing my course (as things may have improved since) they were transitioning from one website to a new portal that held all the coursework. My name was misspelled multiple times causing log in problems. A few emails sorted this out and I did feel for the staff that was doing their absolute best to iron out issues on the fly with a brand new system. Obviously more testing should have been completed before rolling it out on a large scale or a definitive "line in the sand" for people learning to stop the confusion.
The course notes had issues. There were multiple spelling errors on every sections with diagrams that sometimes didn't show up on the notes (so small that you have zoom in so much they pixelated). Sometimes it was the interface of the pdf software they use, others possibly the content.
The multiple choice questions (particularly the ones with words making up technical sentences) didn't work on many occasions were you gave the answer to the question but the answer had to be in the same terminology the writer used or it was wrong. This meant having to retake the self assessment exams multiple times because slight differences in terminology wasn't accounted for in the answers.
On the exam day, the whole group couldn't log in to start the exam and the few that did manage to log in and start then had an 1hr 30mins of people talking over each other in the background that you couldn't mute. I could have turned the speakers down but at a risk of not hearing something that was actually needed for my exam. It was extremely off putting and unprofessional, putting us at a disadvantage to the later starters.
Looking back at my results online some of the answers didn't match the numbers and the sketched diagram question numbers didn't match what I had, potentially having being marked down
As I said, staff looked to be dealing with the teething issues the best they could. Some of the course notes was interesting and engaging but some being honest I'll probably never use again.
Excellent courses
The courses are very well structured.
I use the knowledge more than I thought I would.
Very high quality of information and DIPCAM is number 1 .
Good solid course. Lots to learn

I organized for two people to attend the course. I bought two folders for the course, with 'course work'. There were pages in correct in the folders and my college was confused and spoke to Bcas. They issued a correction page. The online practice test were wrong. One asked which one of these questions was right. I cross referenced with the folder and chose one, you had to put down all five for you to get a pass even though it asked for one answer. There were simply lots of mistakes like that. When it came to the end exam !! That was a mess, allowing me to join when no one was there and try doing the exam unsupervised. I complained to Bcas and they said they would sort out another exam date. But that got messed up as well!!!! I have not had a proper invitation to the exam and with the course work poor it was not a good education experience. Also when I crashed the exam early and attempted to answer the maths question they were not like the ones in the folder, which the course is described as not having to know everything before the course because all will be in the course work / folder . It was not like this at all. Very disappointing experience / expense for the education value, just frustrating and over wordie.
DipCam
Sat the Dipcam course in October and when chased for my results was told they had not been saved. Having to now resit the exam.
The voice of reason
Provided relevant training for various needs.
Always happy to support the areas that are sometimes grey, to talk through applications and advise on best practice for each situation

paying and booking a training course is fine, however the admin and training content sending has been pretty poor as our engineer had to miss the course, until i questioned what was going on, this was when the manuals and content was sent out to the lads.
BCAS - a great investment
We have been members of BCAS since 2007, it provides a fantastic service for us as a member, as well as to the wider compressed air industry. It offers excellent training, industry relevant updates and advice, as well as being a source for other valuable information not only for its members, but also for the actual users of compressed air and vacuum systems, compressed air treatment products and compressed air tools.
