I have been investing for six years now and have trialled countless different platforms. After using Betashares Direct for the past two years specifically for ETF investing, I can confidently say it is the undisputed winner in the Australian market.
The interface is incredibly polished, simple, and clean. The fractional share buying functionality is strong, and the platform offers comprehensive growth and earnings tracking that makes portfolio management effortless.
What sets this platform apart from even the second-best options, however, is the commitment to value. With $0 brokerage fees and absolutely no hidden costs, it provides the kind of transparency every investor deserves. There is genuine peace of mind in knowing my money is held with a renowned, well-established Australian company.
Now that the $0 brokerage has expanded to ASX stocks (not just ETFs), I am actively migrating my individual ASX holdings from Superhero and Webull over to Betashares Direct.
My only request is for the team to expand into US share trading. If you add that functionality, I will absolutely follow suit and move the remainder of my portfolio across from other platforms. Thank you for doing what you do—please keep up the fantastic work.

The inversed "big bear" ETFs, like BBUS (×3) and BBOZ (×2) are a scam. ETF price is manipulated and forced down by Betashares, regardless of the underlying market/future moves. By forcing the ETFs' prices down, Betashares blatantly reduce unfairly potential wins. Disgusting! :(
If you call them and ask the question (as Idid), Betashares start beating around the bush. They would suggest a complicated & time consuming "forensic day-by-day investigation", but refuse to acknowledge and/or admit the big picture, which is: when the underlying indices/futures fall, BBUS & BBOZ do not always move in the opposite direction, let alone x3 or x2 times, as they are supposed to.
Again, a disgusting, obvious scam :( 😡😠🤬.
People, don't fall for this, and perhaps avoid Betashares altogether.

This is another fee share broker but their services are better than mainstream share broker like CommSec.

1. You can't place buy and sell order concurrently.

2. The charts are very average but most traders may be using some of their choice such as TradingView.

3. No margin loan. So you need to have fund before you can buy.

4. Their app is functional, simple and sufficient.

5. Betashares may question if you buy and sell too often. They don't like day trading.

I often trade up to 10 trades each day.

Compare to CommSec I prefer Betashares.

I have only words of praise for BetaShares with their slick web and mobile interface for trading in ETFs / select pool of ASX traded shares.

I appreciate their product team's thoughtfulness in their design. My suggestion would be to allow opening of multiple ETFs / Shares in multiple/new tabs and not force it to open on the same tab. This prevents a comparative study/analysis at a higher level.

The best thing is they do not charge for the purchase or sale of ETFs or shares. Easily the under-rated gem so far in the online trading space. I really wish they have a feature to enable support for the inclusion of minor accounts.

I found their transfer process to bring in equities from other trading platforms to be a straight-forward process although it could take a week or two depending on how long your other platform takes to respond. In my 8-months of association so far, they have evolved their platform pretty well and met the product feature release deadlines.

If you are looking for fancy technical analysis or fundamental analysis of listed shares, then you might be disappointed. Also, they offer an immediate way to sell and reinvest the sold amount in other ETFs or shares. But on the flip side, if you plan to cash the sale, then you would have to wait T+2 business days and another 2 days to see the credit in your associated bank account.

I would recommend this product to others.

I was attracted to this company via its website and online service for buying EFTs. I went to set up an account and could not complete this process. I contacted the service centre who promised it was underway and I would be contacted in 3 business days. No response? I followed and the bot said all was well! So, for an online product a pretty poor experience for me.
