The sales rep didn't contact me before our departure to let me know the tour guide's name & contact info. Upon our arrival in Kun Ming, we didn't see anyone picked us up. When I called all phone numbers listed on the sales rep's signature line, a machine answered the numbers I called were invalid numbers, only her cell number could connect but she didn't pick up. We were very panic & thought we were cheated/scammed. We went to the airport information desk & they helped me calling the sales rep's cell, only the second time call was picked up. The info desk told her that her customer was at the Kun Ming airport without no one picked them up. The sales rep said "I have so many customers, I don't know which one they are. They should contact their tour guide because they have been given their number & info". Her tone & expression reflecting that it's not her responsibility of what happening to us in Kun Ming airport. I was so mad upon hearing her irresponsible response & took over the call, she then woke up from her sleep & said she would call the tour guide to check what happen.

In Kun Ming, the tour guide didn't pay attention to her hygiene, she didn't brush her teeth before meeting us & her breath was so horrible & we were force to breathing on her horrible bad breath (out of bed bad breath) all day long for 4 days while she kept talking to us. Whenever we wanted to look at dry mushrooms & teas in a shop we passed by, she always said they were not good quality & beware being cheated, she could bring us to the trusted vendors that she always bought hers from. Ended we were brought to shops that she had business connection with to inflate the price to give her a cut. Not very honest tour guide. She also took pictures of us with her cellphone without asking our approval ahead of time if she could do so, no respect of our privacy.

In Shangrila, we were assigned to a male tour guide who was acting super arrogant & rude to us. He walked way ahead of us without explaining to us anything about the place we were visiting, then stopped & looked down at the river without caring if we were with him. I walked to him & asked why he walked so far ahead of us & not telling us anything about the place. He yelled very loud at me "Do you want me to tell you now?" He was so unprofessional & inappropriate as a tour guide.

The food in Shangrila was so horrible. Particularly the second day. We paid for a private tour of 2 people with this travel agent & were told a person could order up to RMB 90, so 2 people = RMB 180, but the food ordered by the tour guide on the second day in Shangrila, we think it's only about RMB 50, very poor food quality & choice. In Kun Ming, when we wanted to order a dish more, the tour guide didn't allow us by saying it's too much already, when it's not & she ate together with us. I don't know if the remaining balance of our RMB 180 food budget also kept by the tour guides or it's saving money for the travel agent company. We were satisfied with our lunch choice of the restaurants & dishes when we were in Dali & Lijiang. The best tour guide we had was the one in Lijiang. She didn't try to sell anything to us (by bringing us to a shop or anything like that), very helpful, knowledgeable & has integrity, never trying to take advantage of us.

What worst about this travel agent - they asked their tour guides to keep taking pictures of their customers using the tour guide's cell. So when we asked our tour guides to take a picture for us using our cell, they either said they would take it with theirs & would forward it to us, or they took it with our cell but also with their cell without asking our approval about it. When I finally complained about it, one of the tour guide told us that's the company policy to keep taking pictures of their customers & sent the pictures to the company to be used for their promotion brochure, etc. The company itself never disclosed to us about it ahead of time nor asked our approval if it's OK to take our pictures & using them for their promotional activities. Is this legal in China?

Not recommended travel agent for your China trip.

We just had a wonderful trip to Beijing, Louyang , Xian organized by China Travel. Everything was smooth and agreeable, from the reservation with Vivi, to the trip by itself with the guides Jack (Beijing), Julien (Louyang) and Robbie (Xian) who were all passionate about their respective cities. Despite our old age and ignorance of the Chinese language, we were able to appreciate the modernity of Beijing and the magnificent ancient China with numerous visits to historical sites and temples. Our preference goes to Xian where the mixture of modernity/tradition definitely worth the trip.
We strongly recommend China Travel as a tour operator and will use their services for our next trip to China

The tours in Shanghai and Beijing including flights which were wonderfully organized by Annie of China Highlights. This is the second time I used them for our group of family and friends that travel together every year. Despite the various and different needs of a fairly elderly group, our guides Cindy and William were absolutely wonderful in taking care of each of us. Their sharing of the culture, tradition and history of China and all the sites we visited was exceptional. They helped with suggestions and arrangements like two birthday parties which occurred during our time not to mention the fact that William assisted with the recovery of the phone of one of the group members who had lost it in Kyoto Japan!!
Cindy and William were courteous, efficient and caring during all the days we were in Shanghai and Beijing.

The tours are customized to our interests - history, culture and food. We have used China Travel since 2015 for tours ranging from 2-14 days, with a range of in-city and farther afield experiences.

The tours cover personal transfers, transport and dedicated guide and usually breakfast and lunch at a reasonable price. We have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels, and enjoyed authentic and expansive meals.

Arranging the tours via email has been easy and the travel agents are responsive.

We have been very comfortable on all the tours, even as we have aged.

We will continue to use them and recommend to friends.

The tour guides / tickets and train travel provided by China Highlights were first class and they assisted us in every possible. I even lost my glasses in a Taxi and they helped retrieve them! I don't hesitate to recommend China Travel

Wendy,Wendy,Wendy ; didn’t know what to expect in Zhangjiajie but with Wendy as my personal guide each day just got better, never had a mishap or problem even with it being China’s labor week holiday. Got to see everything I wanted to and more, actually thinking about going back to Zhangjiajie for an entire week as I enjoyed it that much!!

I went to Silk Road , very impressive… only the last stop in Xian , I felt that all the villagers, poorly dressed, trying to so hard to sell their cheap souvenirs to foreigners… in the terracotta worriers whereby , this world renowned site has thousands of tourists each day.. by chasing tourists to buy , most of the time is unsuccessful… no one buys.. this is degrading China prosperity. The toilets are still below standard of others towns that we visited. The toilets should be cleaned by giving more jobs to these villagers, rather than chasing the tourists .. this way , they get paid and no more chasing tourists to sell their souvenirs and most of the time,, they are disappointed.

The process of booking a private tour to Zhangjijie, Tianamen mountain, etc. was very smooth with this company.
Sara, our tour guide/ manager for the 3days was very pleasant and helpful in every way and highly contributed to our memorable experience. Would love to go back to visit other areas in the near future!

General Overview:
The scheduled tour was executed successfully. The itinerary was excellent, and the locations visited are of extraordinary beauty.

Staff and Logistics:

Tour Guide: Extremely professional, punctual, and always attentive to the group's needs. A true added value to the overall experience.

Driver: Impeccable, ensuring safe and smooth transfers throughout the journey.

Accommodation and Transport:

Hotels: The Wyndham confirmed its status as a high-quality property. Regarding the Pullman Hotel, while it is a quality medium , it felt somewhat too large and impersonal. For future arrangements, I suggest prioritizing Boutique Hotels, which better align with a more refined and intimate travel experience.

Transportation: The vehicle provided was comfortable and suitable for our needs.

Catering Services (Areas for Improvement):
A critical point concerns the management of lunches. The cuisine was often found to be too heavy, with an excessive use of fried foods and oil.

Recommendation: It is essential to offer guests the option to choose from the à la carte menu, even if it involves paying a price difference. Dietary freedom of choice is crucial to ensuring guest satisfaction, especially for those who prefer lighter and healthier options.

We arrived in Lijiang and met our wonderful guide, Alice. Alice explained the wonders of Lijaing over a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. With so much to see we visited the Black Dragon Pool and the Ancient City where we are staying in the most fabulous hotel.

Alice was so knowledgeable of the surrounding area, being from a smaller local village. Jade Snow Mountain was our major draw to Lijaing and with Alice’s guidance we arrived at mountain and breezed through the steps to the cable car. The trip to the mountain look out was spectacular, the guidance for preparation for the altitude a huge benefit. Thank you so much Alice for your care and support when one of us had altitude sickness and had to return to the cable car area.

After a look at the Blue Moon Lake and awesome reflection pools we arrived at the smaller Baisha village where we enjoyed the hospitality of a Sharman. We learned the language and symbols of the Naxi people.

On our return to the hotel our most dear friend- guide Alice had prepared a cake to commemorate our 49th wedding anniversary, along with a framed picture drawing by a Bashi artist that will be cherished forever. The addition of rose petals on our bed made for the most memorable time in China. The dedication and care from Alice while in Lijiang was outstanding, memorable and truly Wonderland.
A shout out to our very capable driver, Ms M, who delivered us so efficiently and safely to all of our destinations.

Vivi Chen, our tour co-ordinator was a great help to our planning. She was committed and responded to our queries promptly. The tour guides in ZhangJiaJie and Chongqing was very helpful and friendly too.

What amazed me during this trip from 6 March to 5 April 2026 were the accomplished and caring guides as well as drivers throughout this trip. They went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our trip, assisted us where there were any needs, and made our experience of China a wonderful one.

There are two things that I wish to point out that were not so pleasant. One is with Seduna Sanhe Hall in Lijiang. This hotel room lack privacy and was noisy. Anyone can peep into the room and can easily hear steps going upstairs and loud speaking.
My second feedback is with booking with Beijing Capital Airlines JD5522 from Lijiang to Xian. We were unaware that the size of hand carryon bags was 5 kilos only. We were made to pay CNY300 for 2 carry bags totalling 15 kilos. They do not even reduce the 10 kilos that we were allowed on. I do not recommend this airline when travelling.
Apart from these two points, I am happy with our tour arrangements and highly recommend our tour guides and drivers.

We have had 15 days tours in China arranged by Venassa Zheng from China Travel. We are very satisfied with the arrangement. Good Sceneries, excellent services. All the local drivers and tour guiders provided their professional, personal best toward us.

6 of us visited Lijiang for 3 nights. We had a great time. We walked the ancient city, went to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Sun Moon Lake, watched a cultural show directed by Zhangyimou and performed entirely by local boys and girls and visited to Tiger Leaping Gorge. All wonderful attractions. While we were forewarned about taking precautions when visiting Jade Dragon Mountain, 2 of us still suffered from acute mountain sickness and came down with diarrhoea and nauseousness. However, our guide, Eleanor, ensured we were well taken care of by getting us heat packs to soothe our bloated stomachs and medicines to stop the symptoms. Hence, we recovered very fast and still got to enjoy the entire itinerary. All said, the ingredients of a great holiday were all present - wonderful attractions, good food and great tour guide. It’s all about the people. Thank you Eleanor!

The journey in Wang Shan with China tour is very impressive and Pleasant! The tour director Suki is very professional, responsible and caring! We really enjoyed the scenery and services provided!

We were escorted by a guide named Bree, and the final portion of our tour was led by David. Together, they made our experience truly spectacular and memorable.
Both Bree and David consistently went above and beyond—not only throughout the tour but also by offering valuable assistance outside of it. They provided helpful advice on local vendors, negotiating prices, food recommendations, and the best photo locations. They were also very attentive to our needs, accommodating all of our requests, including frequent restroom breaks, with patience and professionalism.
Even after the tour concluded, they have continued to support us. We are currently in the process of trying to adopt an abandoned dog, and they have been incredibly kind in assisting us and doing their best to help make this possible.
We will absolutely seek out their services again on our next trip in the coming months, and we highly recommend requesting Bree and David when visiting Zhangjiajie.

Vivi was very helpful in recommending the hotels in Suzhou & Shanghai. Transfers from Airport to hotels were were well arranged. Vivi was also quick to respond to our messages. Overall, we are pleased with her service n will definitely contact her again on our next trip to China.

Be very wary of using this company. I booked a soft berth from Chengdu to Tibet months in advance.
They took my money but when my ticket was due to arrive everything went silent. I had to end up contacting them only to find out they had not got me a ticket! They offered a hard seat ticket for a 40 hour train journey, I had no choice but too book this but after a worried sleepless night I decided to cancel my plans as I felt their unprofessional and impolite manner had ruined what was to be a magic trip.
They have only refunded me the difference between soft and hard ticket and have refused to repay my cancellation for the hard seat even though cancelled within 24 hours.
This company did not have the decency to contact me when my original booking was not fulfilled and instead I am now left out of pocket, having to change my trip and thoroughly wary of who I deal with
Please take care and make sure if you use this firm you are not promised something and then end up with a poor substitute which they won't re imburse.

Probably the worse company in china that I have ever dealt with

We booked a Private Transfer service from the Shanghai Cruise Terminal to Pudong International Airport. Annie, who is our Travel adviser, is very responsible and caring, we felt very comfortable and safe by using their services.

Tour guide's names are in brackets. We had a 14 day tour of Harbin (Winnie), Kunming (Doyle), Lijiang (Alice), Dali (Frank), and Shangri-La (Pema). We were very well looked after. All the tour guides were extremely watchful and attentive of us and spoke quite fluent English with the exception of our guide in Harbin, Winnie. They were quite knowledgeable too. Winnie doesn't seem to know how to get the group of 8 to walk together. She walks slowly in the front unaware that the others are trailing quite far behind. One of our group member fell and was bleeding way far behind us. I had to yell loudly at her to get her to stop and then come back to look for the fallen member. At least 300 meters behind us. In the meantime other members of our group took her to the police station to get attended to. It happened at the "Pedestrian Tunnel under Zhongyang Street in Harbin. I myself fell in Kunming, your tour guides and bus driver, Mr. Ma was so helpful in so many ways. Helping me up and down the bus. Also, taking me on a wheelchair where possible and supplying ice for an ice pack for me. Also, when our flight was delayed for eight hours, Vanessa, helped us arrange to rebook tickets around midnight and had transportation and a guide waiting for us when we landed and arranged for next morning's transportation to the airport. That is what I call "going above and beyond". All in all I would recommend China Travel with confidence to my friends.
