Beware "Coach" Ryan's Professional Ethics
Beware: I purchased 5 one on one coaching sessions with "Coach" Ryan, and it was one of the most unprofessional experiences of my life. After our first session, I shared one of his videos with my long-term partner from whom I was separating. That person then purchased one on one sessions as well, and "Coach" Ryan became aware that he was seeing both of us. I was never asked if this was ok, but I went along with it.
Big mistake, no safeguards ever discussed. I found out that he should not be trusted to behave safely with a couple. Instead, "Coach" Ryan played it fast and loose, telling me an extraordinary amount of what happened in my long term partner's sessions. And at the same time, in that person's sessions, he gave an opinion about me: "It wouldn't surprise me if she comes back to you in 3-6 months." despite Ryan admitting that I never said this to him... nor that I would be ok with this behavior even if I did!
This was a clear abuse of trust... but when I confronted him about it, he not only told me that he would do it again but also I am the only one who ever had a complaint about anything he had done. He went on to ask the hypothetical question of how I would feel if I didn't follow his advice and then my ex-partner committed suicide. Turns out suicide was never discussed with "Coach" Ryan or ever a concern for my ex-partner (?!) As a classy ending to this gaslighting, "Coach" Ryan hung up on me and I never heard from him again.
So beware that this guy does not practice what he preaches professionally. While he may come off as empathetic initially and in his public persona, he might resort to disturbing behavior if you don't agree with his methods/advice... especially disturbing for someone who offers books on emotional growth and healthy relationships and a course on gaslighting defense. This type of behavior often does not happen in isolation, so I want to make sure anyone else negatively affected by him knows they are not the only one.
