One of my favourite shops

Content stocks an excellent range of truly “clean” cosmetics and skincare - from old favourites to cutting edge products.

I have shopped here almost since the day they opened on Bulstrode (in 2008 if memory serves) and have found customer service to be mainly excellent. At the start there was Erin who was super knowledgeable and helpful. After Erin left there was a gaggle of vapid assistants who didn’t really know what they were selling, but thankfully those days were short lived and are far behind us. The shop then moved to New Cavendish and staff quality improved.

The shop has since morphed to an online entity only (although they do have a Studio in North London, where visits are by appointment only), and customer service is back to what it should be in the guise of Marie and Cody. The ladies know their stuff, can be relied on to give good advice, reply to emails swiftly and are very patient when replying to my many questions. They run an excellent sample service so no more costly cosmetic mistakes and also provide equally excellent phone and online consultations. Mine was with the owner, which was a real treat.

Rapidly downhill.

I cannot tell you how much money I’ve spent at CONTENT since 2008 (when they first started).

I recently had to return (for only the second time in 16 years!) some products damaged in transit.

Firstly, I had to pay out-of-pocket to return them, contrary to the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014, then only offered a ‘store credit’ - despite CONTENT acknowledging the damaged items.

When I insisted on a refund - you know, legal rights in the UK, I’ve only been refunded a portion with absolutely no explanation.
No refund of my original delivery costs (they must be making profit on this, £10.50 postage even when you’re spending hundreds of pounds! 🤔🤨). No refund of return costs, which they are statutory obliged to reimburse.
Emails now go unanswered.

Sixteen years of loyal patronage of CONTENT.

I think I’m done.

I’ve come to the realisation that ‘Natural’, ‘Organic’ … is no better than anything else.

It’s all just an overpriced scam run by people who ought to know better, but couldn’t be bothered, have an IQ only in double-digits and seemingly haven’t the first clue about good customer service or indeed how to treat people with any respect.

So long (dis)CONTENT. 🥱

You’ve quickly become little more than any of the huge number of blanding samey sell any old rubbish, online retailers.

Perhaps reducing your staff from five, to just one and the owner wasn’t such a clever idea. 🙄

Content, for ever and always

If you need skincare or cosmetics, turn to Content. That is my whole-hearted recommendation. Not only is their range of products fantastic, their customer service is some of the best I have ever experienced. Probably *the* best. In my most recent interaction with their customer support team (shoutout to Marie) I was asking for a highly specific recommendation, and during my very swift and friendly back and forth with them, they not only contacted a brand with a question on a specific ingredient, but also pointed me towards a product that they don't even carry, meaning they would't directly benefit from my purchase. Count me a loyal devotee. Thank you, Content!

Favourite website to shop my favourite…

Favourite website to shop my favourite clean beauty brands from. In the past years, I always had a positive experience. I twice had an issue with the product (one due to allergic reaction). In both cases they showed immediate attention, asked for the batch number and immediately compensated me.
Love them and the brands they stock.

Received a deteriorate product - really bad customer service

I was very disappointed with this company. I purchased several makeup products on June 03 2022, including the KJAER WEIS CONCEALER. I had previously paid also for samples, so as to pick the right color of the concealer. I put the concealer along with other make-up and beauty products, in a closet in my bedroom, so it was protected from any source of heat and even light, it was very well kept. Once I opened it after I finished the previous concealer, I could see that the concealer is totally different from the sample: first of all it has a very strong acid smell, which is really unpleasant and it is probably not healthy (it might have been badly kept or it is deteriorated), and the texture is really different from the sample (it is not creamy, but clumpy). I was very disappointed because I did not expect a company caring for natural and healthy products, however expensive, selling deteriorated products! Worst of all, the customer service is inexistent, they just ignore emails. I wanted to give them the chance to explain what happened before leaving reviews (which I rarely write), but they never got back (I just get an automated reply referring to holiday...but it is not holiday anymore!). They sell very expensive products without even caring about their status and about the customers. I will never buy anything from them, they are very unreliable. I have now to throw away a very expensive concealer.

I received clearly bad product (LIHA…

I received clearly bad product (LIHA Gold shea butter) it smells strongly rancid, it changed the color, it is of-white instead of yellow (as depicted). The product was on sale, and now I know why. The only answer I received: we checked those on our shelf, these look as they should and those are the same batch. And color can vary. (had a look at a current batch which has a 3 year shelf life so is not near an expiry and it doesn't look to have an issue.). that was my last purchase there. I would not recommend that shop at all.

I had an online zoom consultation with Cody

I had an online zoom consultation with Cody who is absolutely brilliant. I let her know what I wanted beforehand and she came up with some fantastic options that I will definitely be purchasing! She was kind and lovely to talk to and I learnt how to do makeup that not only fits my face but what genuinely suits me. I also learnt about colour analysis and how to balance cooler vs warmer colours accordingly. I could not recommend this free consultation enough!

As others have said, terrible customer service! They make it incredibly hard to return anything, and do not answer customer emails! Awful company, with terrible ethics. AVOID.

Poor customer service

I have never posted a review of any company, but I am very disappointed in this company. Similar to other complaints, their customer service department is lacking. The item they shipped was not what was displayed online, and so I contacted them to return the item. After I returned the item and confirmed its receipt, they never refunded me, and have not responded to any of my emails since (Marie). To the company, the money may not be a big deal, but this was a special splurge for me. Please be careful when purchasing from this company.

Extremely bad service.

Extremely bad service.I inquired about their international shipping and I was assured my parcel would be passed to my local post service where I was to pick it up myself.Wrong-they passed it to a shipping service while omitting my phone number-the courier had no way to contact me and I had to call the shipping company's customer service to redirect my package,this time with my phone number included.They also very rarely re-stock their items-I asked about a concealer last summer and they said it would be re-stocked in a matter of weeks-it wasn't ever restocked.I will never order from them again.

Be aware of very poor customer service

Be aware of very poor customer service.

First of all I made a mistake ordering wrong size of the item, so I contacted them by email right after I placed an order online.

Their response was not so kind and explanation was very poor. However after few conversations with them with all the specific details of my item size, i figured out the size I ordered was actually the right size for me.

When I received the item, it was completely different size to the one I ordered.
I contacted them and their response was ME to contact directly to the factory/actual brand “EVEN THO IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE SENDING ME THE WRONG ITEM.” Also they said no exchange or returns are acceptable for this item.

What a horrible business and it was the worst online shopping experience ever in my life.

Great products but since they have moved to New Cavendish street, sadly they have employed poor quality staff: dull customer service. Get Rosalind back on the shop floor, great personality and great service! Please C.B - less staff needed but more personality, the shopping experience is dull, much prefer ordering online!

Poor quality staff

I think the customer service levels in store explain why people now shop mostly online. As a former regular it feels like 100% snobbery. Avoid and bring your business where it is more appreciated!

Avoid like the plague- poor customer service

I ordered boucleme curl set for it not to arrive and signed by someone that wasnt myself boucleme utterly refuse to accept i havent got the product or give any refund under good faith its disgusting. Royal mail failed to deliver me an item safely and no instructions was left to deliver elsewhere so should have been returned to my local sorting office.

Very worst experience I had

Very worst experience I had. First time when I went i tried to ignore what therapist( who comes from Thursday) did to me. I gave her benefit of doubt and booked another appointment. I didn't know she will be again my therapist. I was shocked by her behaviour and the way she treated me.when I asked her that I was very shocked the way you were. I added that I want to come again as it is close by for me but very disappointed with her behaviour. Then immediately she said - there is another therapist ( I think she comes on Wednesday) you can go with her instead of correcting her rude behaviour. I was never expecting this sort of unprofessional behaviour from the therapist who works for 'content beauty and well-being). I had been with Liz Earle till the shop shut down at Duke of York square and the kind of treatment I got there is no match. Therapist were so professional and pleasant.
I am still in shock the way I was treated in Content beauty and Wellbeing.
