I took the High Road, but then he took the Low Road?
On Dr Finlay's website he describes himself as "Safe, Compassionate, Expert."
Safe - is agreeing to an initial consultation, charging £300 for it, then when the patient informs you that they are involved in litigation, you want to drop them like a lead balloon, not respond to correspondence, and then eventually say you're too busy to do anything further for them, when absolutely pushed, is that safe? NO, I don't think so.
Compassionate - at the start, yes, but after I was too honest and divulged the litigation against my former GP, certainly not, as all he wanted to do was to ignore me, which didn't help with an opinion I wanted from him so that I could consider an offer in time that had been put forward to me by my opponents, so latterly, NO.
Expert - remains to be seen now that I will follow his advice and not have a loop recorder implant, which was recommended by a previous consultant, who happened to send me someone else's medical notes!
Would I recommend Dr Finlay after the fiasco I have had for being honest with him - NO, because it clearly doesn't pay to be honest, otherwise you will be ignored, sidelined, and marginalised, to end up facing nothing but a wall of silence from him, unless you take him to task over it with him finally realising that he might be directed to respond to the Court as to why he can't give his opinion.
Would I recommend? Not if you want to be made to feel that you are 'irrelevant,' as he knew I had already been made to feel that way by someone at the PHSO, and that I felt upset about it, because I was essentially told by the PHSO, that my case wasn't serious enough to investigate because I hadn't died, and they only review the most serious of cases, which normally involve a death, so that they can learn lessons from it! And having told Dr Finlay that, he goes and does the exact same thing, and leaves me feeling totally irrelevant. What sort of 'consultant' does that to a patient?
