Great company to deal with …

Just want to say what a great company to deal with from start to finish, I dealt with a sales guy called Keith very nice guy and explained everything very clearly and was an absolute gentleman I also dealt with Chris from the grange what a lovely guy and very helpful and did a excellent job on my car so all I can say is I’ll definitely be back and thanks guys for the flowers

Three months old Inster

Three months old Inster, coming along the N11, suddenly yellow warnings all over screen. “Warning low coolant level check water pump” , a well known fault. We were near sandyford so drove to moonys service spoke to reception, mechanic looked and said we’ll take it in and sort it.
Five minutes later drove out in a I 30 courtesy car, hope to have my car back tomorrow. Only sorry. I can only give them 5* , they deserved 10*. Special mention to the receptionist , Chelsey (I think) very professional

I have purchased many cars from John (sales person) and found them very professional and courteous. John is so passionate about his profession and is very honest with all. I always go back to John as I know he will steer me in the right direction. I find Hyundai cars very good and reliable.

Very Happy we purchased a Hyundai Tucson

Recently purchased a 2024 Hyundai Tucson from EP Mooneys and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the start the team was incredibly attentive with no pressure whatsoever. Communication was clear throughout and we really appreciated the honest and transparent pricing. Especially around the trade-in of our Renault. Delivery to Kildare was arranged making the whole process hassle-free.
Following out purchase, I got in touch with the after-sales team regarding my daughter's Hyundai i20. Her i20 needed a service and inspection ahead of an upcoming NCT. Yet again, the level of customer care was outstanding. We were welcomed with tea and coffee, they provided her with a courtesy car for the day at no extra cost and when she returned to collect the i20 it was fully valeted and ready to go. A very reasonable rate including the valet she was delighted.
The friendly and professional tesm and exceptional service really set EP Mooneys apart from the other dealerships we had visited. Myself and Siobhan will absolutely be recommending you and your team and look forward to dealing again in the future.

My initial experience at Mooney’s was frustrating —

Extremely disappointed with my experience at Mooney’s, especially considering I chose them based on a past positive encounter. Unfortunately, this time the customer service fell below short of acceptable .

Booking & Communication Issues

When I made the booking, I clearly explained over the phone that the primary reason for bringing in my car was due to a flashing engine light. I noted that a previous mechanic suspected a scratched sensor but couldn't repair it. I also specifically requested an NCT pre-test, stressing the importance of timing as I depend on my car for both school runs and work. All of this was acknowledged during the booking process.

However, when I collected my car, I was repeatedly told that the engine light was never on—despite having raised this concern multiple times. They said there were no faults found. Yet, within an hour of leaving the garage, the engine light reappeared—exactly as I had initially described. I even had photo and video evidence to support this.

Lack of Detail & Dismissiveness

When I requested more details about a reported pulley issue (e.g., whether it was cracked, loose, or worn), I was met with vague replies such as “not sure how else to explain this.” At no point did I suggest Mooney’s had caused the damage; I was simply trying to understand what was being reported. The defensiveness I was met with felt unwarranted.

The report also flagged the oil level as “excessive” and “almost as bad as no oil.” Since I had a full service done elsewhere just two months ago, I asked for clarification—or at the very least, for the removal of service-related comments for transparency. This was refused. Similarly, my recently replaced wipers were marked as worn/split, yet no specifics were provided when I followed up.

Customer Service Experience

Much of the frustration stemmed from how I was spoken to—particularly by Alexandra, whose tone often came across as dismissive and, at times, patronizing. Simple, reasonable questions were brushed off. When I politely asked for the NCT report, I was told: “You have, the report that listed all the items we discussed is the report.” This felt unnecessarily curt, especially considering I was only trying to understand what had been done.

When the engine light returned, rather than acknowledging the issue, the initial response was simply to reiterate it wasn’t on during their checks and suggest it may be a fault from another mechanic. This was despite me clearly explaining that I had come to Mooney’s because I trusted them to investigate and resolve this exact issue.

To her credit, Service Supervisor Seana did attempt to address some of my concerns and was more understanding. However, it became very clear that there is a lack of communication between the service team and the mechanics.

Final Thoughts

No—the issue was never resolved. They did eventually acknowledge that the engine light was on but told me it would be too expensive to fix—yet had no problem handing me a €2,000 bill for other parts I hadn’t asked to be replaced. My original request, to diagnose and resolve the engine light issue, was overlooked entirely. Two weeks were completely wasted, despite me making my needs and timeline very clear upfront—including providing my NCT date.

The only saving grace, and the reason I’m giving two stars instead of one, is that they did provide a service car at no extra charge when my car had to be returned. I appreciated that gesture—but it doesn’t erase the overall experience.

This ordeal has entirely changed my perception of Mooney’s. For a garage I once trusted, the lack of care in communication, dismissive customer handling, and unwillingness to provide detailed explanations was incredibly disappointing. I hope they seriously reconsider their approach—especially when dealing with returning customers who simply want clear, professional help with their vehicles.

Update : After raising my concerns, Paul the Service Manager, personally stepped in. He acknowledged the breakdown, arranged a follow-up at no cost, and ensured the engine light was investigated properly. His professionalism and clear communication were a much-needed contrast and genuinely appreciated.

While the engine light has unfortunately returned, Paul’s efforts to make things right were reassuring. For that reason, I’ve updated my rating from one star to three.

I contacted Mooneys Deansgrange in…

I contacted Mooneys Deansgrange in February 2025 with an interest in purchasing a Hyundai Inster 49k I met with Dylan O’Toole who looked after me from day one to completion of purchase on 7/7/25. Dylan is an extremely professional guy, with an exceptionally winning personality. He always returned calls & was available to me all through the process. Dylan spent over an hour with me when I picked up the car on 7/7/25. To insure that I was happy with everything. Thank you for everything Dylan. I am delighted with my new Hyundai Inster.

Never again

Never again. Hyundai have lost a customer for good thanks to the service department. My advice to anyone using the service department is 'double check your invoice' in case staff are having a 'bad day' and have included charges for work not done. Avoid at all costs, I would not trust the service department accountability as far as I would throw a grand piano!!! If I could add a minus rating here I absolutely would.

Highly Recommend

Hidden charges and no ethics.

The most constructive thing they could do would be to try be honest. They done a diagnostic test on my car. They then sent me out a report , which I'm pretty sure is absolute rubbish, and asked me what I wanted to do. I said I would pick up my car ,review the report and decide what i wanted done. They then said i needed to pay 138 euro over the phone before I would be given the car. I was never told of this in advance and any claims to the contrary are lies. I spoke to tbe sdrvice manager Paul that morning when i dropped off the car and no fee was mentioned. I was told the agent who booked it in several weeks ago would have told me they could not say who that was. As I live quiet a distance from the garage and need the car for a hospital appointment tomorrow I reluctantly paid. I do admit I was rude to the girl on the phone and for that I apologise. But the sales manager I collected the keys from quiet literally laughed in my face and told me to take the keys and get out. The ethos of this company appears to be. " milk the customer" and laugh while doing it.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Before you become their next unsuspecting victim.

I picked up my new Kona this week

I picked up my new Kona this week. Salesman Ian was absolutely fantastic. From the week before going in to look at the model and helping me through to the final car. On pick up went through absolutely everything with me in my new and set everything up for me.
He was an absolute pleasure to deal to with and a credit to Mooney’s!

Do NOT go for repairs here!!! Prices are day light robbery went for a price on getting a window repair as the window would not go up and down told it would be €270 for diagnostic. (Given price €120 other garages) I said why is it so expensive the girl behind the desk (who is afraid to crack a smile) told me they had to take the door apart (I assumed so doesn’t explain why it’s so expensive it’s not that complicated to take the case of the door) doesn’t explain why it’s so expensive. Customer service needs an upskill course! Prices way over charged

Poor experience

I received a quote for a car, and a provisional price for my own car. Original salesman, Keith, was away but told me to come the following day. Drove three hours to be told the price I had been quoted had now gone up 2000. I found the salesman I dealt with quite rude which was almost amusing - was he trying to put me off spending money? He said that the car had been sitting with them for 10 weeks but refused to back this up with paperwork.

Top sales guy keith

Just purchased my 4th car with keith on the Longmile Rd... Keith as always never fails. He is quick, efficient very professional but friendly and patient as it took me a while to choose the colour... I have recommended Keith and EP Mooney to several friends and will continue to do so... Best sales guy around.

Never trust this dealer. They cheat you on the pricing and the finance.

This company or the salesperson haver to really honest and be transparent in what they are selling. They have sold me Hyundai Tucson HEV Executive Plus model which I wanted but billed and financed for At the price of Hyundai TUCSON FL 4WD N Line PHEV Auto w.2 Tone Roof
Residual+ 5d SUV Hybrid, they gave me Hyundai TUCSON HEV Executive Plus model. The Bank Contract says

Now ideally, they should refund me the difference amount of what they have billed for. I had cross checked with the other dealers and the price they have sold me the same car is far higher. I trusted this dealer better, but they are purely cheaters. No way to escalate this further in the company. No good business ethics.

And I had bought Tucson FL Executive PLUS HEV. When I spoke to the same salesperson, he just says it's OK, Bank does not care about it. But I do care. Selling something different at the wrong prices is purely a cheating. And when I checked the price with the other Dealers, the car I have purchased is really cheaper than the one Mooney's Sold me. Just don't trust this dealer as they can sell anything and everything. When I call up the salesperson to share this feedback, there was no positive sign of compensating or anything. End of the day its business, I understand. But Ethical business goes long way. I did not see any Ethics here. Better to deal with other Dealers or other Brands, I feel. I could have checked other dealers also. With this kind of experience never go ahead with this dealer.
