Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling

I used to go to Abbey Leisure Centre and use the spa a couple of years ago. It was a bit dirty at times, but overall it was okay.

I recently rejoined on the higher £60 all-inclusive membership, which used to be £50, and it’s simply not worth it. Most of the time only a couple of spa rooms are working.

Today, 3 out of 4 rooms weren’t working at all. There was only one steam room available, and it was overcrowded with everyone queuing up. None of the showers were working either.

The entrance just before you get to the sauna was filthy and clearly not maintained. It smelled unpleasant, the bins were overflowing with rubbish on the floor, and there were even banana peels left around.

For £60 a month, this level of cleanliness and maintenance is unacceptable. Really disappointed, this place need URGENT refurbishment, if anything they need to replace the staff with people who would actually make an effort to maintain the place.

Millie (swim teacher)

My son had Millie (not sure of the spelling) at the Wythenshawe Forum today covering his lesson and can I just say what an amazing swim teacher she is!!! She shared her attention equally throughout the whole class, she noticed what the children was struggling with and individually gave them advice and help. She was patient, extremely helpful and very good at her job. My son thoroughly enjoyed his lesson today and came out more confident in himself. Thank you Millie, what a fab addition to the team you make!! ♥️

Don't pay for the year !

Although I loved the centre. I can not get hold of anyone without copy and paste. Generic responses online.
I paid for a year and only used for 2 months due to two sever injuries that involved hospital and police reports.
All i keep getting is generic responses about only direct debit uses can freeze memberships so I'm out of pocket nearly £450 !

Dirty and ower-crowded pool.

The pool changing rooms were dirty, the floors were muddy and with hair. The pool itself was overcrowded, making it impossible to enjoy the session. Many people from the previous session stayed in the water for the next one, and staff did nothing to manage capacity or clear the pool.

There were also several people swimming in regular clothes rather than proper swimwear. This is a hygiene and safety issue. Only appropriate swimsuits should be allowed in the pool, not T‑shirts or black clothing.

Can't even set the app up

Can't even set the app up. So complicated I have given up. Shame because the pool i want to swim in looks great. Oh well I'll stick to the thames. Public sector are useless at this sort of thing.

Too many people for lane swimming

Too many people are let in for lane swimming, and lane speeds aren't enforced. I am not a professional swimmer but can competently swim.

I used to come to this gym years ago, but ended up cancelling the first time as you'd spend the swimming hour stood in a queue in the pool.

Since then the price of a membership has shot up, so I went for a once off.
Same problem. No thank you

Everyone Active ... shocking takeover in Cannock Chase

Everyone Active has just taken over the leisure centre in Cannock Chase. Shocking take over, they think they know it all, slashing classes and equipment. They are more interested in decorating than listening to members.
Recommend you save your money and join another gym.

Whitby Gym and Leisure Centre

I recently attended the gym at Whitby leisure centre, we go to Whitby 5 to 6 times a year on mini breaks and have done for 19 years . Part of my experience when time allows , is to attend the gym there. I’ve been many times and it’s always a pleasure . I used to be a Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor so I know how gyms and leisure centres work. The centre itself looks lovely from the outside and in. Free parking for 2 hours (plus more time if required) upon entry on reception, staff very helpful. The gym and swimming pools are the areas I’ve used, it’s a lovely atmosphere throughout. The Gym Instructors and Personal Trainers I’ve seen in there are very enthusiastic and keen to help. I love being in their gym, plus looking out the windows to the legendary, iconic backdrop that is Whitby, is a great feeling . Keep being superb guys . Thanks again 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

It barely works and is confusing to…

It barely works and is confusing to navigate, I just wanted to book a swimming session, I don't want to create an account. I was added as a 'linked profile' by a friend who was trying to book the tickets herself and left the section where I would fill out the password for me to do. I tried filling out a password and it prompted an email verification to reset a password but that email never came. How can I book online if the email account I have is already attached to an account that the site claims exists but will not send me an email to verify itself to set a password. It's a terrible looped logic system that just doesn't work. I just want to book a swim session, that shouldn't be a hard thing to do. I hope the council drops whatever useless company built this site asap, I've genuinely seen children design better sites.

For the last 3 months they have taken…

For the last 3 months they have taken out a vastly over amount from my bank every month they have assured me it has been sorted. yet again over charged 1st junes total have recieved e mails to the effect its sorted But its not at wits end now

Swimming with SEN

I took my 4 years old who is SEN swimming for the 1st time! It was a brilliant experience. The teaching pool was perfect height for him, the life guards were always alert and walking about. The changing rooms were also clean and easily accessible. All in all I will be going back again!

Everyone Active - Highly Recommended!

I have recently joined Everyone Active and now attend the Blackbrook Leisure Centre & Spa.
So far I have been very impressed and would recommend anyone who wants to get back into shape or improve their fitness.
The pool at Blackbrook is lovely, the gym state of the art and they have many great facilities. They run lots of activities and easily bookable through their app.
I attended a You+ coaching session with one of the team, called Jay. He was certainly very knowledgeable and gave me great ideas moving forward to achieve my life goals.
In summary, would totally recommend and full marks for the team and the cleanliness of the centre.

i could have not got any better service…

i could have not got any better service from all the safe at leisure centre as i am suffering ms they were so kind and helpful especially the young man. I think he’s one of the one of the managers. Nothing was too much trouble for them to help me with.

Improvements still to be made

I appreciate the leisure centre is undergoing a makeover however I wanted to raise a few issues. On entering the changing rooms it clearly states no outdoor shoes yet so many people ignore this. The floor is absolutely filthy with no clear sign of any member of staff cleaning the changing room areas. Not a very clean environment for changing babies and children.
The price of drinks and snacks is extortionate, and paying for dinks and snacks is by no means easy, you have to wait for someone to serve you, the tills never work, no one knows the prices. It’s a reception desk not a snacks counter and would benefit from being separated. When you go to pay for a snack staff members look at you gone out it’s such a strange set up.

Enjoyable swimming session

The centre was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The only negative is the booking system - trying to book swimming sessions during the school holiday was difficult, it didn't have the session I wanted as an option so had to book by phoning.
Everyone Active is a big company and should have a better website.

Visited this week for the first time

Visited this week for the first time, on what was a very hot day!
Banded system was effective and not over crowded.
Life guards were vigilant and my kids and their friends had a lovely time.
Didn’t realise there was a grassy area we could have put our towels out on and enjoyed snacks so when I discovered I needed 20p for the locker that was non returnable it became a problem everytime someone wanted something from their locker.
To be fair the lifeguards gave me a few spares as they said “it all comes back to us anyways!”(as in the leisure centre) so that was helpful.
Staff were friendly.
Cafe was nice. Would defo go back !
Parking was easy too - QR scan system once inside the building = free parking

Absolutely shocking to hold of trying to cancel memberships within the 14 days cooling off and sent enquiries via the page been in venues and not getting anywere it's been over 2 weeks just refund my money

Doubled direct debit with no warning

My son who was 16 about 8 months ago has a membership at Cockermouth gym in cumbria. Since Eveeyobe active took over two months ago they have, without any warning or notice increased his monthly direct debit so that the monthly cost has nearly doubled. I went into the gym to speak to the manager who was completely useless and said i would just have to raise a query on the app. We’ve done that and had no response for a few weeks now. Appalling.
