After initially leaving a 1-star review due to a disappointing experience, I feel it’s only fair to update my feedback.

Following my review and with the subsequent support of the truly amazing Helen McNamara (BDM) and outstanding Laura Cox (UW), the company reached out promptly and took my concerns seriously. They were professional, understanding, and genuinely committed to resolving the issue. The team kept me informed throughout the process and worked quickly to put things right.

I really appreciate the way they handled the situation. Mistakes can happen, but what truly matters is how a company responds — and in my case, they stepped up and delivered excellent customer service. The client was ready to go elsewhere but through the action and support received from Helen my client is actively looking to place more business with Fleet.

Thank you for taking the time to resolve this properly. It’s made a big difference, and I’m happy to revise my rating based on the positive action taken.

Charlotte and Dave have been absolutely brilliant as my BDMs at Fleet Mortgages. Their communication is excellent - always clear, responsive, and proactive. They’ve provided consistent help and support throughout, making everything feel straightforward and well-managed. Always refreshing to work with people who are so knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely supportive. A real credit to Fleet Mortgages.

Fleet used to be efficient and easy to deal with, unfortunately, that's not the case today. Common sense has disappeared and replaced by over zealous underwriting to an extent is simply doesn't make much sense.

Incredibly fussy lender requiring reams of paperwork for a buy to let mortgage.
Even though we had shown the client had a good current income and over £800k in the bank (more than enough to buy the subject property twice), the lender wanted such things as proof of income from 2021. Utterly ridiculous and unnecessary on a buy to let (or even residential). Embarrassing criteria and a waste of everyone's time.

I did a complex mortgage with Fleet recently and the support especially from BDM's Emma and Katy and broker support was fantastic.

My client has struggled with other lenders but Fleet were fantastic from start to finish.

I found staff on the phones very helpful, systems are good and great support and updates

Fleet pre-underwriting matched up with the process I followed, allowing me to package my case and then breeze through underwriting confident my client meets the lending criteria!

I have been working more closely with Fleet for the last 12 months, and have been extremely impressed with their delivery and do what they say they will. You have the ability to speak to the underwriter, and there criteria is very clear, and precise. They do not, like a lot of other lenders move away from policy and look for holes, and keep things simple. I will continue to support a lender like this.

Surprisingly, even with four mortgages, they handle everything with the care and attention you'd expect for a first-time buyer.

Had a great experience , the BDM and underwriter are very helpful but only one suggestion of asking relevant questions while underwriting.

Fleet have offer great pricing & a really easy to use website. Their ethical approach is good and the team are always polite & friendly. However, it took around 2 months to get a mortgage offer, and a lot of back & forth. We were told that several times our case was 'forgotten'. We were asked several questions about the income of someone whose income we weren't using, and it seemed no-one took an overview of the case. The valuation fee was the highest of anyone... As always, you get there, but it's painful

Very helpful with a property that could have potentially been an issue for some lenders. From the application to offer was very quick and was kept informed at every step.

Fleet got the job done. As usual. They like their paperwork, but never had a client rejected by them. Client portfolio was large. Complicated case. Well supported. Many thanks.

I had a complicated case , so it was very helpful to be able to always speak to someone. In particular, to have direct access with the underwriter made a big difference, and not something many lenders allow.
