GO Outdoors - Shrewsbury Avis 

Extremely disappointing customer service – avoid if you expect complaints to be taken seriously.

I have never experienced such a drawn-out and poorly handled complaint.

I purchased items from GO Outdoors Shrewsbury where products advertised at £130 and £9 were charged at £140 and £12 at the till. When I queried this in store, the manager was dismissive and insisted the prices were correct.

After weeks of back-and-forth with Customer Care, GO Outdoors offered me a £10 goodwill payment in recognition of how the complaint had been handled. I chose PayPal and provided the details requested.

I was then repeatedly told the payment had been processed, given different timeframes, and had to chase again when nothing arrived. Eventually I was told a new payment request had been raised and to allow another 8 days.

Months later, I have now been told the payment could never be processed because of an internal system limitation. Even more frustratingly, GO Outdoors have admitted in writing that I should have been told this from the outset, which would have allowed me to choose the gift card option.

The £10 is no longer the point. It is the repeated incorrect information, lack of accountability and the sheer amount of time I have had to spend chasing something GO Outdoors themselves offered.

A very poor experience from start to finish and an unacceptable way to handle a customer complaint.

Had a faulty pair of walking boots and no receipt or the original box. Despite having a very hard time trying to sort it out on line, I finally got to speak to a person and from that point onwards it became a breeze

I went to the Shrewsbury store after my old tent died at the start of a music festival. I was served by Elijah who was fantastic. He listened to what I needed, made a suggestion based on personal experience, answered all my questions and was superb in his customer service skills. Many thanks to him and the Shrewsbury team.

Fantastic staff, Elijah went above and beyond helping us with our hiking poles.

Phil gave us comprehensive help with choosing a bike helmet, he was very knowledgable & friendly.

I had a medical emergency outside Go Outdoors last night & I cant thank Simon & his team enough for their brilliant & lightning quick support. it took the ambulance a bit of time to arrive but the care I received from this brilliant team means im going home today & not laying in a hospital bed. ive always had fantastic service at this shop but this time it was more than customer service, it was life service & if Go Outdoors Management read this, please give Simon & his team a gold award

Came in looking for a tent got some really great advice of Stuart very knowledgeable ended up buying one also dom asked me if I would like help he took it to the till for me and also put it in my car very polite and helpful

Excellent customer service as always at Shrewsbury Go Outdoors - I wanted a new pair of walking boots as my Solomon boots hadn't lasted well at all. John was amazing at helping me find the right pair that works for me.

Huge thanks to Simon in the fishing department. He was very helpful and a credit to the company. Really knowledgeable and spent a good hour with me and helped me read through the rules of the fishery that I was going to that he had been to before. Helped me set up rigs etc. really appreciated his help and advice.

We were helped by Dominic as we wanted to look at some hiking boots. He was so friendly and knowledgeable and fantastic help :)

Stuart was very friendly and helped us find everything we needed. He went above and beyond and we’re very grateful.

Dominic was a great help in finding the right trainers for me. Nothing was too much trouble - different styles and sizes! There was such a good range of styles and prices.

There was a super helpful employee named Dom. he was SUPREMELY enthusiastic about his job and showed exemplary knowledge about the items I was looking for.

My son wanted to learn to fish and didn't know where to start , we asked Simon in the fishing dept for some advice , he was so thorough and took his time to make sure Jolly understood everything he needed to know , why can't every sales person be like Simon , brilliant service

Last Saturday I purchased an Osprey bag. Ewan and Jude helped me pick the bag and check out. Very pleasant experience.

Simon was very helpful and helped us pick a perfect tent bundle for our family.

I’d like to say a big shout out to Simon in the fishing department in go out doors Shrewsbury . He’s extremely friendly knowledgeable and helpful and nothing is too much trouble . Great customer service a credit to the store 🎣 👏
