GO Outdoors - Stockton Avis 

Visited the Stockton branch this afternoon and found a fleece on the sale/last chance to buy section. The label attached made no reference to non members vs members pricing as opposed to the regular tickets attached throughout the store.

Faye served us at the till point and asked if I had a members card, I confirmed that I do not and haven't since 2008 - fay then laughed and said she was born in 2008. I asked if that was the members price what was advertised and she said yes, but I pointed out there was no reference to a members only price on the tag.

Fay then called over Karen, who I will refer to as "the gatekeeper". The gatekeeper immediately dismissed my point and snapped that the shop is for members only and this is displayed everywhere so I asked for some literature to confirm this. She then pulled out a generic go outdoors membership leaflet and flung it across the till point to me. I glanced over the material and asked the gatekeeper to advise me of where it said it was an exclusive shop and more importantly where it showed a members pricing on the price tag. The gatekeeper then read out the pamphlet and realised the information she proudly said with her chest was absolute nonsense twaddle that she had made up. She then retreated to a dark corner away from the till with her tail between her legs.

Andrea then got involved, who I believed was the store manager and advised that the price I was willing to pay WAS infact correct as the item for sale was a concession and just needed a discount manually applying at the till point.

I advised Andrea of the gate keepers attitude and behaviour being below the expected standard and she replied with an audible sigh and said she will pick it up with her later, strongly giving the impression that this wasn't the first time, but my advice would be to make it the last.

To summarise, Faye who is 18 has more knowledge of customer service than the gatekeeper who looked like they'd been there before everest had ever been summitted and your store manager understood my point exactly and resolved it with a can-do attitude.

Please give credit to Faye and Andrea but make sure the gatekeeper is sent on some mandatory customer service training and send her to a local comedy show to practice her smile.

Funny how you never have this problem in Mountain Warehouse either.

Called today for a (LOOK) at new hiking boots today for the wife, having recently had our old gtx boots wet out badly.
Met Theo and Helen who not only helped us but found the missing boot, they know what i mean.
So having been looked after so well i purchased the brown leather Scarpa boots the same visit.

We are members of the Camping and Caravan club and everytime we have tried to get the discount off the club card we can't. With the assistant saying it's already been discounted. Go Outdoors stock is mostly supposed to be discounted so what is the point of offering this extra discount. Very disappointed.

I’ve shopped in go outdoors Stockton for many years, no issues, however today staff rude and awful. I have my address for my discount card and kept being told no it’s not you, it’s a woman’s name but not you. I was like I’m the only person that’s ever lived at that address so it has to be me and it turns out she typed the wrong address. I get mistakes happen and I get I probably got her back up, but I just couldn’t understand what was going on, but her attitude towards me like she’s won a prize for saying no that’s not you. She was so nasty to me and this has left me really upset and shaken. I do not feel I will ever be able to go in that store again.

Shopped in store today, vicki was friendly, polite & knowledgeable about products. Very happy with my purchase, would definitely return again.

The shop has plenty of stock and sizes in store and the staff are attentive and helpful.

Helen was really helpful today when we were looking for some new walking boots for our son. She took the time to check that the fit was right, allowing for growing room, and showed us a really helpful tip for checking the size in shoes with more structure where pressing the toe doesn’t work as well. Thank you!

I visited GO Outdoors Stockton to purchase some hiking boots for an upcoming multi day hike.

Helen was friendly, knowledgeable and professional - she helped me to identify the most suitable types of boot and provided fitting advice. She also made me aware of the different type of thermal socks and how these can affect comfort / fit.

A very pleasant experience and I would recommend this store to family & friends.

Came into store today for a jacket and hiking boots for my 9 year old son.
Choosing the jacket was straightforward but when it came to the hiking boots there were several to choose from.
Helen who assisted us was great, she gave us all the options in his size and we came away feeling good with what we had chosen.

I’ve been a long time customer and held a membership for many years. Recently renewed for the year and came back today to the system not recognising my renewal. Really wonderful service from Abbie and Karen who tried all avenues until it was sorted. Much appreciated, not least of which their warm approach.
