GO Outdoors - Warrington Avis 

I called in to go outdoors this afternoon to get a replacement pair of over trousers, I spoke to Amelia. who was extremely knowledgable and helpful, accredited to go outdoors training and staff morale, thank you. Go out doors team. 

Tidy store friendly staff. Served by Mandy. She was very patient and helpful.

Lilly was so helpful, knew her stock, asked the right questions to get what I wanted. She also had a happy smiley friendly personality. Would definitely recommend people to ask for her to help. The lady on the tills with dark hair and a ponytail also was great, and gave good customer service

Online order for 4 items with store pick up. Email received to say they had arrived. Drove to the store and only 1 item. Drove home with 1 item. Several hours later phonecall to say the others were there. Drove to store to collect and drove home.
1 item had a hole in it. Drive to store to return item and drove home. 3 round trips instead of 1. No apologies and with the cost of fuel at the moment any savings I had made had been lost.

Liv on footwear was super helpful. I was looking for a new pair of hiking boots and needed to try on quite a few different pairs (sorry Liv!) but she was super helpful and I ended up finding a great pair to purchase.

We had an issue with an online order that the online customer services couldn't resolve and said we needed to go to our local store, we ended up going into store at Warrington and were assisted by Becca, she was more than helpful in fixing our issue and I couldn't fault her customer service even though the order was completed online. In addition I'd highly recommend going in to the Warrington store as it was well stocked even with items we'd previously struggled to find online and all the staff we interacted with were helpful.

I went in for a dry bag which was placed within the shop intuitively. Charlotte served me on the till and was very helpful in finding my membership number so I didn't have to go back out into the rain, and was generally very friendly. The shop was clean, tidy, and well lit. There was plenty of space in the car park although I did go at 09:30 on a Saturday.

Staff very helpful, especially Mandy at the checkout who was quick to resolve a pricing issue that I hadn't spotted. Honouring the lower price on an item when they probably didn't have to.

Well stocked and clean store, very good prices on cycling jackets, Sue was polite and helpful on the till,all good.

The store is well laid out ..airy and everything is well labelled
I was looking for walking shoes ..Liv who served me was brilliant, attentive and offered advice when asked ...I tried numerous pairs which she supplied with a smile ! ..

Every time I've ordered something from go outdoors. My parcel has been good quality and the customer service is good aswell

Needed some last minute bits for a camping trip with friends, everything was were you would expect it to be and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, safe to say I’ll be returning.

Absolutely appalling experience, particularly for disabled customers.

GO Outdoors Warrington has to be one of the least wheelchair-friendly shops I've experienced. The entire store is crammed, cluttered and piled up with stock and displays, leaving extremely limited space to actually navigate in a wheelchair. It genuinely feels like trying to navigate a jumble sale rather than a professional retail store.

The attitude towards accessibility was even worse.

I was told that the accessible toilet is routinely used by staff and other customers because it is “just easier” and “closer”. Apparently whether a disabled customer actually needs the facility doesn't matter. There wasn't even a Radar key lock on the toilet, so there was nothing stopping people who don't need an accessible toilet from using it. An accessible toilet isn't a convenient shortcut or spare toilet. It exists because some people need it.

The checkout was another complete failure. The store actually has a lower checkout that is suitable for disabled customers, yet I wasn't offered it. Instead, I had to struggle to use a standard-height checkout from my wheelchair. When I explained the problem, I was told to “just pay on the machine”. The machine was positioned somewhere I physically couldn't reach from my wheelchair. So apparently the solution was for me to somehow magically become taller.

Meanwhile, multiple members of staff were standing around the tills chatting while customers were left to fend for themselves. There seemed to be plenty of staff available to talk amongst themselves, but remarkably little interest in actually helping customers, including a visibly disabled customer struggling with basic access.

This isn't accessibility.

Having an accessible toilet somewhere in the building and a lower checkout that technically exists does not make a shop accessible if customers can't reasonably use them. Accessibility means being able to enter, navigate, reach things, use facilities and pay without having to fight the store every step of the way.

I shouldn't have to explain basic wheelchair accessibility to a major retailer. I shouldn't have to struggle at a checkout that isn't suitable for me. I shouldn't be told to use a payment machine that I physically cannot reach. And I certainly shouldn't be made to feel that an accessible toilet is there for anyone who finds it “easier” or “closer” to use.

The Warrington store desperately needs to look at its layout, accessibility facilities and, most importantly, staff training and attitudes towards disabled customers.

Being disabled shouldn't mean receiving a worse shopping experience or having to repeatedly advocate for basic access. After this experience, I certainly won't be rushing back.
