The Michelin Star, The Luxury in LUX-ME (grecotel, Kos)

The best holiday we have had by far!!

Me and my wife went on a 4 night break to Kos, Greece in april 2026 to a beautiful luxury hotel by the name of 'Grecotel LUX-ME Kos' to celebrate a late honeymoon trip and were blown away from start to finish!

The airport was simple to navigate, the transfer was just 6 people intotal onboard there and back.

Upon arrival the Visual elation was immediate from the waterfall at the fully glazed entrance through to the reception with its infinity pond surrounded by glossy symmetry and ornate features top to bottom, wall to wall.

Greeted at reception by rafaela with open arms and full of calm but positive charm and a personal 1 to 1 service 24/7 where no task was too much to ask.

She Assisted us to our Seaview room in a private buggy whilst we took in the architectures elegant yet modern crisp touch to tradition, curved lines and attention to detail such as Marble tiling, the range of colours and robust materials used will give the Taj Mahal a run for its money!

Our room was fully equipped with all the amenities and more!
We had personal robes, slippers, soaps and fresh towels and bedding around the clock, a full fridge and a free safe. The 4 post bed draped in linen was a beautiful touch alongside the his and hers separate clothing space provided, simply ab fab!

Now lets move on to the facilities and service provided because this is where it becomes unique and an experience i have NEVER had the pleasure of receiving on past trips and holidays or ever in general.
The breakfast is a stunning array of salads, yogurts, fresh-made omelette on demand, cereals with fruit and seeds/nuts/toppings,
There is some sweet treats from baklava to chocolate smothered fresh pancakes and hot waffles made there and then all by the likes of great chefs such as Julita who was a wonderful woman, great coffee on tap, herbal healing teas available and last but not least ofcourse, The good old fryup! All set in the stunning main building with internal and external seating with a tantalising view at every angle.

Lunch was by the pool with a tasty range of goodies to choose from, all fresh and made in front of you.
No queuing, no interruption, just great food ready to devour!

All this was washed down by drinks at the pool bar just metres away with 360° service, all branded alcohol with well dressed, well spoken mixologists like Alexandros, Ergys, Enadri and Patrick who all provided a friendly, efficient service whilst having great knowledge of cocktail ingredients with some style to go with it and again, no queuing as table service was provided by a great young man Lope, which puts the olive or cherry ontop! φανταστικός!

When we were not in town, on pirate ships on crystal clear seas or exploring the islands mountains in a doom buggy we were relaxing poolside on super-comfy recliners with fresh towels everyday ready for the salt water pools to rejuvenate us head to toe............bliss.

If it wasnt already amazing it gets better!
we loved the A la carte meals with the 1930's restaurent providing its fresh sea food dishes which felt Michelin star quality and produce, accompanied by bottomless top notch wines all served by the wonderful and so smiley Alexandra and Maria who were commendable to the highest extent with no request being a tall ask,
Then on to the Italian inspired restaurent with prawns bigger than my head and exact selfless service provided by Giorgos and the team,
All whilst being in the presence of the centre piece being a stunning gloss white yamaha piano that makes you want to become Ludovico Einaudi for the evening!

And last and by no means least,
The Greek inspired meze we had in the poolside eating area was delicious and had bite size variation to coat our taste buds in delicate delicacies fit for a king and his queen
(Also served with wine galore)

All of this took place with the constant assistance and eye for service, attention and satisfaction by the reception team consisting of Rafaela, Eirini, Veatriki, Christina, kalispera, Irene and Mary who all stood out from the crowd with their professionalism and ability to help in every way possible, especially organising our body massage which rounded the holiday off beautifully!

Finally i would like to mention the 2 managers who really stood out to me for their focus on the guests, ability to run a team of hard working, selfless great people with ease and elegance to smoothly provide the best service we have EVER recieved and they are the characteristic superstar Katerina and the subtle yet attentive Ioannis!

Thank you all so much and your are a credit to Grecotel, their integrity and beliefs which has been displayed throughput the whole trip, you are incredible and you all set the bar for greatness.....
I Commend you legends!

The Roc Club Greece

I held off writing this because the staff assured me the manager would call to address the issues. That never happened, so here’s the reality.

This hotel is a complete waste of money and nowhere near 5-star standard. At best, it’s an average 3-star trying to charge luxury prices.

We spent the night without air conditioning because it’s apparently switched off to save costs — completely unacceptable in a so-called premium hotel. The property itself is poorly maintained: the exterior is dirty, the rooms are tired, and worse, there are genuine safety concerns. The balcony glass feels dangerously unstable — lean on it and you’d seriously question whether it would hold. It’s an accident waiting to happen.

Breakfast was equally disappointing. We were told there was no decaf coffee, only to later discover that there was. That pretty much sums up the level of service — careless and disorganised.

The airport transfer was another farce. We were charged an outrageous €70, and the driver — who looked far too young and unprofessional — refused to pick us up properly, instead instructing us to cross two lanes of busy traffic for his convenience. Yes, the fee was eventually removed, but that doesn’t excuse the experience or the absurd initial charge, especially during a taxi strike when guests are already stuck.

The pricing throughout the hotel is blatantly opportunistic. €50 for a single shot of Glenfiddich is beyond excessive — even top-tier hotels don’t charge that. It feels less like hospitality and more like exploitation.

To top it off, the justification for these prices (shared via WhatsApp) was almost laughable. It shows a complete disconnect from reality and what guests expect when paying premium rates.

Places like this damage the reputation of Greece’s hospitality industry. There are far better hotels offering genuine quality, professionalism, and value — this is not one of them. WhatsApp excuse below Dear Mr. Hayden,

Regarding your room, we sincerely regret that the initial allocation did not meet your expectations. For this reason, a complimentary upgrade to a higher-category room has already been provided, with the intention of enhancing your overall comfort and satisfaction during your stay.

Concerning the air conditioning, as previously explained, our hotel operates a central heating and cooling system designed to maintain the most suitable in-room temperature throughout the day. During the morning hours, when outdoor conditions are warmer, the system operates in cooling mode, while in the late afternoon and evening, when temperatures drop, it transitions to heating mode to ensure a consistently comfortable environment. At present, the system is operating in heating mode in line with these conditions.

Should you feel that the room temperature is warmer than your personal preference, please do not hesitate to inform us. We would be more than happy to arrange lighter bedding or provide any additional assistance to ensure your comfort at all times.

We also appreciate your observations regarding our facilities, including the pool area and sunbeds. Please be assured that your comments have already been communicated to our higher management team, so that the necessary actions can be reviewed and addressed accordingly.

Regarding bar pricing, we understand your perspective. Kindly note that the hotel is situated in one of the most exclusive areas of Athens, where pricing levels across hospitality venues are generally elevated. Nevertheless, we continuously strive to ensure that the quality and overall experience reflect these standards.

With respect to the transfer service, we sincerely regret the inconvenience you experienced. As a gesture of goodwill, this service will not be charged and the cost will be fully covered by us.

Nice enough hotel but not 5*as they…

Nice enough hotel but not 5*as they suggest and definitely not worth the price they charge !
Awful problem with wasps at breakfast and unbearable issues with mosquitos whilst dining in the evening.
Issues repeatedly reported to the front desk and hotel throughout our stay but absolutely no measures taken to resolve the issues. Apparently and according to their own staff, this is a constant problem due to the property being built on marshy ground

Awful booking customer service

I exchanged helpful emails with the booking staff and then told them I would book within a week. I logged on four days later ready to book and the price had gone up 300 euros with zero warning when I mentioned I planned to book.

I emailed to ask if they could honour the original price and received a very cold email around prices being subject to change. No doubt, but it's very poor customer service to not warn there is an impending price increase coming (when the actual holiday is nine months away) and make no offer.

Costa Botanica

A long wait for drinks to be served in the evening and well as coffee in the morning. Felt by passed by the staff members serving.
Also when asked for room number this felt very much to see how we should be treated as guests?!? The food choices available were very repetitive and you could tell that some food was reused from previous service?!? A plate was smashed by another guest by accident that cut the back of my leg this was seen by staff and I had to give myself first aid. This is the second time visiting this hotel and 3 time I have stayed with Grecotel I will not be revisiting this hotel and it does not upkeep with the Grecotel brand that we fell in love with!! Such a shame!! I understand there is a country vibe the the decoration to the rooms but it feels dated and cluttered with the baskets for not reason and a clock the doesn’t work. You see managers hovering around but they are more interested in the high paying guests, and don’t add to the experience. The park needs adding to for the children as well as activities for older kids. In the 2 times we have stayed I have not seen a lot of the activity program happen. I feel there should be more seating in the main square as well are chill out spaces!! The use of towels to reserve sun beds in the mornings needs to be monitored as this can be a issue. We love the area and the beach and this is what brought us back and the fact we where told that Grecotel had only just taken over the hotel last year.
Over all disappointing

Not worth the money - Mosquitoes

Not worth the money. Room was super loud due to issues with air conditioning. Problems with app so couldn’t pre check in and therefore a la carte fully booked. And the big problem - Mosquitoes were living their best life, feasting on every person there (Costa Botanica -
Corfu)

Grecotel Luxme White serves frozen food and is an embarrassment to Crete

Grecotel Luxme White serves frozen food and blatantly misrepresents itself on its website. I am disgusted that a 5* hotel who claims to serve 'incredibly fresh' and uses such blatant hyperbole like 'Savour the exceptional. Superb culinary adventures' on their website when the reality is their menus all have asterisks which mark food as frozen. They even serve frozen proteins and seafood in their fine dining restaurant. Add in broken heated pools, faulty drains which flood your room, rude staff who look down their noses at you when you raise a concern - it is not worthy of four stars, never mind five!

Grecotel Amirandes

Grecotel Amirandes, Kreta. Die Anlage ist architektonisch wunderbar gestaltet, Lage wunderschön ruhig, Personal ist freundlich, Buffet und Speisen umfangreich und wohlschmeckend. Kleinere Mängel sollten für 5 Sterne und bei den abgerufenen Preisen jedoch behoben werden: beim Einchecken muss ich alles selbst ausfüllen per Mobile, obwohl Daten bereits vorliegen; das Mobiliar ist etwas ramponiert, es gibt nicht genügend Wasser auf dem Zimmer; Voucher für 2 Abendessen können trotz frühzeitiger Buchung nicht eingelöst werden, es erfolgt kein versprochener Rückruf.

Specifically to the Grecotel in Corfu…

Specifically to the Grecotel in Corfu Greece!

Every employee was so friendly and welcoming it made our stay feel like home! The food service was exceptional our only request would be to have more of a veriety of hot food! Our room was emasculate and we were given complementary wine and snacks, the mini bar was restocked daily with no charge! The cleaner for the room was also lovely and despite the slight communication barriers (more on our part) was super smiley and had a warm touch and made us feel comfortable. The pools were cleaned daily. The bar was stocked up and the service around the pool was exceptional just what you want at an all inclusive resort! We thoughrouly enjoyed the water sports which did have an extra cost but for the service we were happy to pay! Our only wish was for a bit of better weather but that couldn’t have been helped. Going off season was the best time for us as it was quiet all of the children on the resort were so well behaved too! Our al a carte meal was beautiful! We will definitely be back another time and would recommend for any families or couples! Thanks for having us!

Superb

I stayed at the Athens Palas hotel and it was simply superb. Really friendly, courteous and efficient staff and the best buffet and service I have experienced anywhere in the world. The location is also well placed.

Gecotel Meli Palace in crete

Stayed at meli palace in crete. What a wonderful hotel.The food was very good, a large choice to eat.and drink the spirits included English ones. The hotel is very clean and the grounds are very well kept. The staff are all brilliant, very helpful friendly and polite. Will be going back next year I can't wait
