Harriet Carter Gifts Avis 

I've purchased from Harriet Carter for many years & never had any problem until recently. Last 2 orders placed were paid by personal check. Both orders had items on backorder, so I received partial shipments. I received an invoice from HC for tariff surcharges for the items not even received. There is no table listing tariff surcharges, only shipping surcharges. These unexpected charges are frustrating! Even worse, try obtaining a refund for an item no longer available.
You receive a prepaid Mastercard instead of a refund check for an amount not even close to the cost of merchandise. Absolutely no help from their customer service. Will never buy from this company again!

the company took it upon themselves to debit my checking account for a down payment on an order i placed. I doid not authorize the transaction. this caused 3 OD charges on my account which total $72. the amount they took out was $32. 30. I had enough in my bank for a charge that comes out every month and that's all I'm had . I'm on fixed income. I called the company and was told I'd be reimbursed but it may be in the form of a debit card or it may be to the bank. that was latter part of March. I waited a week, called back, this time I was told to fax the proof where the withdrawal caused the OD. I faxed that on April 3. still I heard nothing. I called again, this time I was told they never got the fax, I was asked to fax again. I did on April 16. I called April 28 and was told to wait until this Wed which was the 22 I called today on the 23 and was told I now had to talk to my bank and dispute the charges that they were not refunding according to their policy. I have been lied to since last of March. I would have disputed the charges in the beginning but I was promised I would get the unauthorized amount and the 2 OD charges. how can customer service get by with telling customers they're going to be refunded when they change their mind after 5 weeks. this was fraud in my opinion. taking money from some ones bank without approval is theft. don't buy from them if you don't want treated like a honest human being.

Items were a much smaller size as I wear 61/2-7 wide and the shoes did not fit. I was very disappointed!! Also the items had a musty pungent smell !!
I was so disappointed and I will have to think about ordering from here again..

Overpriced, high shipping, bad service. After almost a year of payments, still turned down payment plan on order.

Placed order. Received email confirmation. Received another email with a different and higher price. Immediately called company to cancel if they were charging me more. Next day received shipping verification. Called again. Was reassured it was canceled and my bank account credited. Today I received notification from shipping company that I’d be receiving said “cancelled” order tomorrow. How could they not understand to cancel this order not once but 3 times and the last time I supposedly talked to a supervisor. I should not have to cancel an order this many times and still have it sent out.

I ordered a $19.99 item by the time I got to the end it was almost $37 they're trying to charge a $3.50 charge for covid on top of all the other charges!when we're all suffering it's a horrible time to be preying on people! they say that they're going to give you 10% off or free shipping but there's no way to click on that and then when you're all done done done then they tell you it won't be in stock for 4 weeks and when you check it it won't be in stock for 6 weeks ect...beware beware beware!

Some items I've ordered from this catalogue are cheaply made and I think are a tad over priced. Also, the requirement for shipping costs added on to the already hefty total of even 2 items is rather exorbitant.

Harriet Carter Gifts owes me close to $200 minimum, seeing that the company apparently cashed two Postal Money Orders back in August; but then, the products which I had placed on order simply weren't delivered - at all.
