Here are a few words I would describe this company

Demanding
And charging extortionate prices in the process.
My parent went from being able to walk to being hospitalised within 3 weeks of using this company and then they carried on charging us for the 30 days notice we had to give.

Such a fabulous company to work for, great support and benefits. the Ethos is right and the care for the Clients is wonderful, such a relief to work for a care company that actually CARES!!!
Did not find their promises fulfilled at anytime.
After 2 years dealing with Home Instead and during a hospital stay a welfare worker spoke to me regarding the expectation I should have experienced with my provider.
A second stay in hospital another welfare worker spoke of similar expectations.
I was very surprised to hear that both support workers had the same reaction, I had been self managing all this time.
Home Instead were not fulfilling their part of the contract.
I completed to ADA Australian who opened a case against rd Home Instead and agreed that I had been self managing.
I had 5 care managers during this time and found mixed attitudes of rudeness, aggressiveness, poor communication, inability to provide suitable trades, miss direction and in some cases miss reputations of the truth.
Looking back now I can see I was self managing but still paying their fees.
Our contract terminates on the 12 th of February.
Inconsistency of carers was a problem
Inconsistency of carers was a problem. Every second or third week we had a new carer and had to show them what to do. I was blamed by management staff from the Home Instead Wollongong branch, that I was told not to "hover" or 'micromanage' their staff. Yet, the turn around of staff was such that I had to show them what to do and because I work from home most days of the week, the carers too exception to my presence. I felt I was being blamed for the turn around of their staff when in fact I was being courteous and friendly. They sent us one carer who did not know how to cook and one who refused to cook more that one meal per day for my mother who has dementia. I felt I was getting no respite with all of the trouble of change over of staff and being blamed for something that I did not do.
Amongst all of this, my mother care had declined significantly. The company only offer 11 hours per week for a level 4 package, while I found others who offered up to 16 hours per week. The indicates to me that this company is only interested in one thing $. They don't care about your elderly parents even though they say they do.
I would reconsider engaging help from this company.

I wouldn’t give them a star if there’s choice. I am the care worker over 6 years experience worked for NR care, Jark care, Maria mallaband, hales care, nursing care personal and Broadland care home all prevouse employer never have trouble with my DBs check or my work. They all left good references after I finished with the companies. This company home instead use vetting to apply dbs and I got refused which took them over 3 months to imformed me. The reason of refusal is the name incorrect which I did supplied my deed poles of name changed already and soon as I knew about the refusal I replied yet I’ll continue and try again so getting requests the proof of name changed which I sent over right away and now two weeks later they contacted me to again submit applications for DBs and supply again deedpole. They are unprofessional and poor organisation and messed up with my DBS check. Wasted my time over 3 months for job. I have been on theory training and passed all. which you all know it takes weeks to complete. So now I wasted 3 month time waiting for their dbs and been told unsuccessful can we start again! Wasted my time for unpaid training! Shame I like the company aim and their goal but I think their recruitments and management is very poor. From my 6-7 years experience of care worker I wouldn’t recommend this company. The company that don’t start well at beginning it alway gonna have trouble later on. They also messed up with the payroll nobody get pay last week and redo the payroll again! I received text from them to apologise about the late pay for last couple weeks.

This is one of the worst companies for senior care out there. So far none of their employees know how to cook, clean, and from our experience, know how to read. We complain to the management and get nothing but lip service. Show them pictures of what their people do to "care" for our dad and still....nothing! They should be ashamed. Bigger problem is we can't find anyone to report them to, NOBODY to hold them accountable.
Absolutely shocking experience
Absolutely shocking experience. Worked with them 3 years, a waste of 3 years, horrible coworkers, management handling and people/staff skills are brutal, constant issues with pay, would never work with this company again and would certainly advise against having loved one cared for by them!

Home Instead have been a lifeline for us. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without them. In addition to the care they already provided we replaced the free ‘care’ provided after mum broke her hip with Home Instead as their carers are all wonderful, compassionate and efficient. The communication has been first class. Sandy and Vicky have been really helpful and Tina, Janet, Maxine, Theresa and Tracy are all lovely carers.

Home Instead Cambridge has been a crucial support for my mother for over a year. Despite living away, their excellent communication and the app provide me with a daily update on the caregivers' activities. After a disappointing experience with a previous provider, Home Instead has not only met but exceeded our expectations, restoring my faith in home care. We trust that, in the long term, Home Instead will continue to meet my mother's evolving needs, whether it's multiple daily visits or transitioning to live-in care.
Charge for a service even though we had Covid
My step dad has been with Home Instead for years. We found out late yesterday the whole family has Covid. We informed the cleaner very early this morning. Just been told that he will be charged for the service. He only uses Home Instead because of the wonderful cleaner. Shame on you.

Home instead in the north cork area I recommend that no one takes up employment here the office staff give a false representation of the company , they lie , you will only get hours if they like you , if you do something they don’t like or speak up for yourself you are punished in your roster , communication between health care assistants and the office is terrible they will contact you when they need something but when you need something you mightn’t hear from them for a week or so , some HCA are not capable of there job so when you do a double up shift you are practically doing all the work yourself which is unsafe for clients and carers , they sometimes send 1 carer for a 2 carers job and expect someone in the family to help you even though they are not qualified carer again leaving the client and carer in danger , the mileage with home instead is so bad you could work 2 weeks and personally spend over 100€ on fuel and only given 14€ mileage allowance every 2 weeks AGAIN I DO NOT RECOMMEND HOME INSTEAD NORTH CORK FOR EMPLOYMENT IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR JOB

A terrific branch of the Homeinstead franchise group I can totally recommend working for them as a carer. I was very happy with kim.evansat as my manager. Any clients out there needing a live in or domiciliary carer send them an email you won't regret it.
Good, caring support and new management excellent
My mother is supported by Home Instead. Although she was initially reluctant to agree that she needed care, she is now very happy and looks forward to her visits. Her carers are kind and supportive, and generally keep good notes which helps me to keep an eye on what is happening with her (she has dementia so is not able to tell me much about what has happened). The relatively new management has been excellent, and I have been listened to and concerns responded to quickly
The good and the bad
Unreliable, terrible caregivers and bad billing system. My caregiver was the nightmare from hell. They don't vet their staff very well. She was bi-polar and a jeckl Hyde. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Ok that's not fair. I had some very good caregivers with them. It was just the last one that was so bad. Not sure why I kept her as long as I did. Had her from abt March thru September.

I applied to work for Home Instead 4.5 years ago and was due to start training but unfortunately my daughter became critically ill. I then reapplied a year later and was due to start training again, but my stepdaughter was killed in a car accident, my daughter was very close to her, as was I, so again I couldn’t do much for over a year as it impacted our everyday life. I went back again, ready to start training and then my puppy had a season. I was honest and as I have no family members that can come into the house to let my dog out, I explained my circumstances and have just gone back again. Becky told me that the manager has concerns about me because of my daughter’s health conditions and also as I’ve cancelled past training. I’m sorry but everyone has **** in their lives and Becky told me that she’d been off for three months …… but that’s ok apparently
I spent five months chasing a refund…
I spent five months chasing a refund for a no show by this company. The care for my mother was respite so only provided while I was on holiday. She seemed satisfied with the care but obviously I didn’t see it because I was away. Eventually when I rang to ask for more respite care they booked it in and said they would ring me next day for payment. No one got back to me so I rang them to pay and was told the manager had decided they weren’t doing short term respite anymore! What happened to giving two month’s notice before any changes are made? I went on the website and what’s the first thing that comes up? “We do respite”! I think I was singled out as an awkward customer. I got my mother to write asking for confirmation in writing that the service was withdrawn before she paid another admin fee elsewhere. Unsurprisingly we heard absolutely nothing. The company I use now e-mailed me a rota with who was coming when. What a difference from being abroad to be rung and told the carers haven’t turned up. I’ve read a lot of the good reviews and wonder whether this company varies from branch to branch around the country?

I am glad to work for Home Instead. Really nice people work there. I have 24/7 support. If I need training, Home Instead provide it. Everyone is nice, kind and willing to help. I am fully satisfied with work conditions and attitude of colleagues, office and managers. 🌺🌞

Awful company incompetent staff that do not get back to you. Training is mainly online. Advertise higher rates of pay than what are paid. Better companies on indeed to choose from.
