I enrolled in the Professional Diploma in Group Therapy Processes & Facilitation in May 2026. This review concerns enrolment, scheduling, communication and withdrawal. I withdrew before attending, so I cannot comment on the teaching.
Before booking, I noticed conflicting scheduling information and contacted the college to clarify it. The Registrar confirmed in writing: “The course starts on Saturday 5th September at 10am.” I enrolled following that confirmation and organised my Saturdays around it.
Three days before the course was due to begin, I contacted ICPS because I had not received joining information. Only then was I told it would start at 3pm. I had received no advance notification of this change. Automated booking emails subsequently showed all ten sessions scheduled from 3pm to 5.30pm, which I could not attend.
I also found the CPD information unclear. The course was advertised as providing 60 CPD hours, but the ten sessions in my booking confirmation, each lasting two and a half hours, totalled 25 live hours. The information supplied to me did not explain how that timetable reconciled with the advertised total, or how the independent-learning component would be organised and recorded. As I was booking specifically for professional development, I would have expected a clear breakdown before commencement.
The explanations added to my confusion. The College President said the course overlapped with another programme he was teaching, and later said the Registrar had changed the time without asking him. He then described contacting learners on the other programme to rearrange their sessions. Meanwhile, my booking emails continued to show Group Therapy at 3pm. It remained unclear what other learners on my course had been told or how the arrangements for both groups would be resolved.
I acknowledge that the college attempted to find an alternative. However, the emphasis on “sorting it for you” left me feeling that restoring the arrangement confirmed before enrolment was being presented as a personal favour. I felt drawn into internal scheduling difficulties when I simply needed reliable information about the course I had booked.
I also found several emails overly familiar given the concerns I was raising. Repeated personal reassurance, emojis and praise of the facilitator felt out of step with my need for clear information and acknowledgement of the disruption.
By this stage, the uncertainty and correspondence had undermined my confidence sufficiently that I withdrew in writing and explicitly asked for no further rearrangements on my behalf. The reply was another proposal: a 10am start the following Saturday, changing the commencement date from 5 to 12 September. I then had to restate that my withdrawal was final.
After I sent a detailed formal letter, the Registrar apologised for the delays and referred my request to Accounts, but also wrote: “There was no need to write so much, as we would have honoured your request regardless.” I found that dismissive given why I had felt it necessary to document the sequence of events.
During the refund process, she explained that she was keeping my enrolment active because otherwise she would be “totally lost” and did not want to forget me. That explanation did little to restore my confidence in the administration.
For completeness, ICPS refunded my full €208.25 deposit, which reached my account on 14 September. I acknowledge both the refund and their attempts to offer alternative arrangements. My dissatisfaction concerns the unnotified change and the handling of the situation that followed. I have retained the email correspondence and booking confirmations supporting this account. I subsequently received automated confirmation that my booking had been cancelled.
What would have made a difference was straightforward: timely notification of the proposed change, a clear explanation and recognition that I might be unable to accept it. A 3pm start would still have been impossible for me, which is why I had clarified the timetable before enrolling. Earlier communication would nevertheless have allowed me to make an informed decision without last-minute uncertainty. I expected the college to take responsibility for its scheduling difficulties, keep correspondence professional and acknowledge my decision to withdraw.
I had been looking forward to this course. For training in therapeutic group processes, I expected clarity, transparency and reliable arrangements. My experience of the enrolment and withdrawal process fell well short of those expectations.

I recently completed the December intake of the Professional Diploma in Trauma-Informed Intervention for Counsellors, Psychotherapists & Allied Healthcare Professionals at ICPS College, and I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience.
The course was exceptionally well structured, combining strong theoretical foundations with practical, real-world applications that I could immediately integrate into my professional practice.
The lecturer was highly knowledgeable, engaging, and supportive throughout the programme. I particularly appreciated the trauma-informed approach, which deepened my understanding of client care, nervous system regulation, and evidence-based interventions. The online learning environment was professional and interactive, creating a genuine sense of community among participants.
I would highly recommend this course to any helping professional seeking specialist trauma training.
Thank you, Michael, for a very interesting and informative course.

BE CAUTIOUS. The founder/academic director changed the terms and conditions during the course and expected us to abide by them. These conditions included that no student was allowed to speak to each other unless it was in the WhatsApp group that the founder was in, which is highly unethical and left students fearful of speaking up about concerns to each other. I also received private messages from the founder asking if I wanted have a psychotherapy session with him. Please research the course's "accreditations" (ICPA/ICPHAA) and the ICPS's academic director.
I was unenrolled from the course and issued a refund, which was never honoured, and ICPS emailed me stating they would only honour the refund (issued 17 days prior) if I removed my negative review from this platform.

Completing this course means a lot to me. Being able to take what I've learned, both from my own personal experience and from everything this course offered, and use it to genuinely make a difference in someone else's life is something I'm proud of.
The course was challenging, but it was thorough and eye-opening. Mike and John are truly exceptional lecturers, knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about what they teach. The supplementary readings and study materials complemented the course.
This course really shifted my perspective on addiction, and on the deep connection between the mind and the body. That insight alone has been invaluable.
It will always stay with me.
