Lies & Don't Acknowledge Their Legal Obligations In First Six Months of Purchase
I was told during a phone call within the first six months of purchase that if anything went wrong with the vehicle, they would not help. I highlighted my rights but was wrongly told it only covered the first three months, when it is six.
Even though I was sold a complete dog of a car, I paid the deposit by credit card, so although the dealer totally refused to deal with the problems under The Consumer Rights Act, my credit card company did which was just as well, as the repairs run into hundreds of pounds in costs, which included illegally fitted tyres.
The mistake I made, going by past experience where I have had nothing but positive experiences with second hand car dealers, was to trust Joseph Sutton and take them on their word. From my experience they are the stereotypical liars and cover up merchants that give the second hand motor trade such a bad name.
I am sure the dealer will use their right to reply with denials of any of this happening, so If you do purchase a vehicle from them, consider paying for a full check or take an extended warranty, but my advice would be, if you care about your own, your passengers’ and other road users’ safety, is AVOID.
