*WARNING BUYER BEWARE*

*WARNING: BUYER BEWARE*

As a motor dealer, I frequently purchase vehicles from auctions. I've also bought several cars from Lloyd's. Typically, I don't inspect cheaper purchases, relying on most auctions' honest condition reports or at-least adequate photos.

However, Lloyd's has ‘Seemingly’ been consistently unreliable and dishonest. *DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY WITHOUT FIRST INSPECTING THOROUGHLY*.

My recent purchase (03/10/2024) exemplifies these concerns. I opted for delivery, which became the first headache. The vehicle arrived two weeks later (18/10/2024) with:

- Smashed windscreen
- Significant hail damage to roof and minor damage to other panels

Additional issues:

- Multiple engine problems
- Major parts missing/bypassed in engine bay

None were listed.

Any reputable company/dealer would have condemned this vehicle to salvage, yet Lloyd's offered it to public with a description of only dirty interior and some paint fade for 3x what it’s worth, Seemingly knowing they have left out a-lot of important details.

Lloyd's customer service was inadequate & unprofessional when there was mention of issues:

- I was bounced between multiple departments and contacts (3 phone numbers, emails)

- They claimed the hail damage was noted during their book in inspection, yet failed to disclose this information in the listing.

- Lloyd's refused to take responsibility for any of the damages and repeatedly denied claims, hiding behind company policies despite initially agreeing to at-least assess the damage.

As someone with extensive experience in the automotive industry, I find Lloyd's conduct unacceptable, regulators and consumers need to demand higher standards. Big companies that consistently behave like this need to be held accountable.

"While occasional listing errors & missing underlying issues/conditions are expected and understandable, Lloyd's is ‘Seemingly’ repetitively Omitting vital information & there hesitance to take any responsibility suggests a systemic lack of attention to detail and a disregard for transparency."

*RECOMMENDATIONS*

• Prepare for thousands in additional repair's if purchasing solely off Lloyds representation.
• Inspect vehicles thoroughly before purchasing.
• Consider taking a qualified third party
• organise transportation with a reliable company
*Most importantly*
• Seriously Consider reputable alternatives (Pickles, City Auction, Carlins). - These companies provide consistently honest & reliable condition reports, They also respond promptly if any issues arise from misrepresentation.

Anyone with similar experiences with Lloyd’s please feel free to reach out with supporting information.

Regards,
Rhys

Bought sapphire with a valuation…

Bought sapphire with a valuation certificate of over $9k. Had it valued by a reputable valuer and told it is only worth $450 to $480. Valuations on Lloyds Auctions are fraudulent so do not trust them.

Buyer beware when buying items listed…

Buyer beware when buying items listed as refurbished, bought 3 x JBL soundbars recently, 2 arrive DOA. There response was to reject any claim as i did not inspect the items. Being listed as refurbished i did not think there should be a need to go and unbox the items and inspect. Have spent a lot of money with Lloyds over the past 10 years and know the risks involved with buying from them but feel this time its was falsely listed, maybe they should have listed them as retail returns. If you are going to buy REFURBISHED items from Lloyds i highly recommend you go and unbox items and test them first

Description of item was Nokia XR20…

Description of item was Nokia XR20 phone. Detailed description was Nokia XR20 phone. Item ended up been Nokia 2.2. They say tuff sh!t. I should have come and inspected the item even though the description was entirely wrong.
Yeah, right. I live 200kms away from Carrara.
How is that not false advertising?
They did say they'll resell it. I wonder what the description will be? I bet it won't be Nokia XR20.

Absolutley appaling buisness!!

Absolutley appaling buisness!!! I recently bought a ute from Acacia Ridge Lloyds and paid good money for it only to find the engine is stuffed upon arrival, they are not going to do anything about it! I even offered a partial refund deal to help pay for the repairs to which they declined. The funds had only just cleared that morning so they quiet easlily could of refunded me. they offered to resell the ute again, so they were either ganna lie in the discription to stuff someone else over or tell the truth in the add and stuff me over, either way very poor way of dealing with it. I will be taking this further! I wish i had of read the many other bad reveiws about this terrible buisness before dealing with them.

Just avoid.

They don't disclose known faults. Bought a tv with a big note on the box saying screen doesn't work. Hid that view in the pics. Won't refund.

Stay away and tell your friends

Don’t bother…I have had so many issues I can’t even mention them all. I first bought jewelry and watches. Half the jewelry was scratched or broken. They were listed as new and no mention of being marked or scratched or showed anything in the pictures. Either way something can’t be listed as new if it is broken or scratched. You can’t sell a car and say it’s new, yet it doesn’t have any doors.
Only 2 of the 7 watches worked and I had replaced the batteries in all and sent them a video at the watch shop , showing them not working with a new battery. They were listed as used but again no mention of not working or for parts only or untested, like it does on some of there other watches which is why I bid on these ones. I have sent them photos of everything including the listing and they still refuse to refund. They say no video inspection was taken. I have done video inspections and they show less than the pics and they don’t comment on the items condition. I have also sent 25 requests for video inspection and only received 2 responses.
Then most of the bids I have won. I get a msg saying it doesn’t match the reserve price and then ask you to pay 10times more than the price you won it for, which most of the time is more than what you would pay retail. If no one was willing to pay more than I did, then why should I pay 10times more. Might be handy if the started the bid near or at the reserve price or list what the reserve is. But I guess if they did that you wouldn’t bid when you find out the $500 ring you are bidding on that started at $1 bidding, has a $16,000 reserve.
Postage is a rip off to. Got charged $34.51 for 2 rings with certificate the came in a large satchel and took 8 business days so no sent express. You can get a box sent express with tracking and sign for $20.
I’ve never seen so many 1 star reviews before. It seems there all 1 star or 5, so I’d say the 5 stars are written by them and there staff. You can also see that all the reviews say the same things. No working, false advertising and refusing refunds. Can’t call over 100 people a liar. Wish I had looked up reviews first.
I also love how they comment on some reviews and say they are sorry and to contact them for help…Have you not been reading! We have all sent you emails with photos and got the finger. That’s why we are leaving these reviews. They hide behind the fine print of taking no responsibility. According to consumer affairs the is still a standard of quality and value that needs to be provided and there is still false advertising.
Will now have to contact the ACCC and follow up with consumer affairs.

I've purchased a few things here and…

I've purchased a few things here and there from Lloyd's

(Wine, Miscellaneous Art Pieces, A few other pieces and items too)

first advice - ALWAYS LOOK AT THE SHIPPING COST!!!
IT MAY SEEM A GOOD DEAL UNTIL YOU SEE THE SHIPPING/FREIGHT COSTS

Their biggest cons,

- If you bid on vehicles/motorcycles/land property (basically anything more on the higher price value) and you win, there's a high chance you'll get follow up emails of them borderline extorting you to bid higher if the reserve isn't met or the price for the item isn't satisfactory. Why not do what Grays does and have the 'Reserve not met' metric on these kind of items instead of giving false hope to buyers?

- If you are purchasing vehicles and such, read through Lloyd's clauses and fine print first - SUPER dodgy. There was a buyer who purchased a a higher end Ute that was 'stolen' conveniently after the buyer paid 30k+ fees, When the conversation of refunds were brought up Lloyd's said they held no responsibility and that the buyer was at fault. 6 months on he's still not seen a penny of his money.

- Stupidly high 'Buyers premium', I get making a profit for your service but have upwards of 17+% on some of your products is in-sane.

- The postal costs are unreasonable, The warehouse is about 10 minutes from me and when speaking with them in regards to furniture they had on auction (must say, it wasn't a bad price) they refused any sort of manual pick up and said that the only option was through their Courier (TNT Express that was looking for $700 for delivery????) Even smaller items that are like trading cards and what not are listed for 17-20+ dollars in shipping.

- They refuse to combine shipping, Bought some sportswear from the same auction - they had the no pick up policy and initially had customer service tell me that YES they can do combined shipping for the items as they were compact and from the same seller - I later go to pay and they're asking for $109 in shipping for 4 CLOTHING ITEMS????????? They refused to combine shipping and didn't want to hear anything I had to say.

- I would personally not buy coins, jewelry, diamonds or anything of such - They have recently had a influx of fake items and metals/gold etc. and they give you the absolute run around when you make a claim for refund/return - Super super dodgy tactics to avoid any sort of resolution. You need to go through you bank and dispute the charge to get anything done.

- They do the bare minimum, even if that.. with their listings, They don't 'inspect' anything and will sell faulty/dodgy items to unsuspecting buyers who will have hell to experience in getting a solution. Their descriptions tell you nada, their photos are a joke (especially the ones they compile) you have to either manually dissect the photos for any damages/flaws or take a shot in the dark. Once they get your money, goodluck!

- Their support are pretty rude and seemingly are intentionally unhelpful. They will throw legal clause jargon your way to deflect any responsibility - If you're reading this and have suffered at the hands of Lloyd's and their shady tactics + are chasing your money - 1. Photograph all your evidence, emails of winnings, the descriptions of the items etc, Go to your bank and see if you're covered for online purchases and begin a dispute charge and give over proper evidence, take further action if needed with the ACL.

- They DO have some bargains you could potentially grab, But be VERY cautious, Lloyd's has been sued/fined in the past & have been caught DOZEN'S of times for selling Fake/Replica items (signed memorabilia, designer items, sneakers, jewelry, coins, etc)

They are thieves

They are thieves! They cleared out my mother's house full of my belongings and when I made contact to collect them they would not allow me to pick them up. When our items went to auction there were so many that had disappeared and vanished. No record that they even existed, they have ruined my life and they couldn't care less. So many family heirlooms, gone! I hate them, they need to be held accountable.

I bought a Landrover back in April 2023…

I bought a Landrover back in April 2023 for $3500 spent a further $2500 preparing it for inspection because it came from Victoria before
On inspection was told it was a repairable write off not advertised by llyods
Without all photos and receipts for the repairs done before I bought it I’m not. Blue to get it passed for registration
I’ve spoken numerous times to Llyods both in Adelaide and Qld customer service
It’s been 3 months and nothing has progressed with my refund.
This is seriously poor customer service and it looks like I have no choice but to take legal action to recover my money.

Thank heavens for Consumer Affairs

Returned incorrectly described goods as directed, then tried for months to get my refund. In 50 years of dealing with Auction Houses Lloyds has to be the worst. Thank heavens for Consumer Affairs I finally got my $3700 refunded.

False advertising and won't process refund

False advertising and won't process refund - had to go through Consumer Affairs
16/6/23 Bought a boxed ring and earring set, which arrived as 3 stones in a bag no jewellery attachments. Advised lloyds 19/6/23. No contact as of 13/07/23 - contacted Consumer affairs. lloyds then asked for another 5 days to "investigate" on 19/07/23 when I advised that I had contacted consumer affairs, they then replied immediately stating that a refund was going to be made but now they aren't going to as they need to wait for consumer affairs. No named person on any of the email communications to follow up with and consumer affairs couldn't reach them via phone either. Now because they are obtuse conmen I have to go through VCAT to get a refund. Complete sham. Don't waste your money or time.

Photos hide faulty item

Photos hide faulty item. Their web site says they don't knowingly sell faulty items. Hahaha. I bought a ladder at one of their auctions and one of the legs was completely cracked (no damage shown at all in any of the photos of the item). Their site Forman acknowledged it was very apparent and should never have been in the auction when I went to collect it. Their office however is refusing to refund. This company cannot be trusted. Avoid.
