⭐ **MY EXPERIENCE WITH MCMAHON MOTORS BROWARD — PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING**

I wish I could give McMahon Motors Broward zero stars.

I purchased a **2018 Honda Odyssey while I was approximately 8 months pregnant**. Before the sale, they were extremely persistent—calling, following up, and doing everything possible to convince me to buy. Once the papers were signed, my experience changed completely.

Only **FOUR DAYS after purchasing the vehicle**, my dashboard lit up with multiple warnings, including **Emissions System Problem, Brake System Problem, VSA Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, and Power Steering/EPS Problem.**

I contacted the dealership immediately.

An independent mechanic diagnosed a **P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire**, and I had to pay out of pocket to replace failed fuel injectors. I also experienced a loud tapping/rattling noise and ultimately had to replace the **timing belt and tensioner**.

Now I continue to have **serious transmission problems**, and the warranty they provided **DOES NOT COVER the transmission repairs I need**. I am now facing the possibility of having to **rebuild or replace the transmission**, costing me thousands of dollars more.

I called McMahon Motors again to explain what I am going through. They listened—or pretended to—but **nothing was done to help me**.

That is what disappoints me most.

Before the sale, they knew how to reach me, follow up, and make me feel valued. **After the sale, I felt completely abandoned.**

While dealing with these vehicle problems, I was heavily pregnant with children who still needed to get to school. There were times I had to **walk and take the bus with my children in the South Florida heat while 8 months pregnant** because I did not have reliable transportation.

The entire situation caused me tremendous physical and emotional stress during an already vulnerable pregnancy. I later delivered my daughter prematurely, and **both my daughter and I required hospitalization; my daughter spent weeks in the NICU.** I will never forget how stressful this period was while also dealing with a vehicle I had just purchased and could not depend on.

There were other issues too, including a **roach infestation** and a **broken windshield the dealership had agreed to replace**.

I sent McMahon Motors multiple written communications documenting these problems and gave them opportunities to address them. Yet months later, I am still spending money repairing a vehicle that started showing serious issues **within days of purchase**.

My experience has been that McMahon Motors Broward seems far more concerned about **making the sale than taking care of the customer afterward.**

I cannot speak for anyone else's experience or how their positive online reviews were obtained, but **my experience does not match the glowing reviews I saw before purchasing.**

I have **receipts, diagnostic records, repair invoices, pictures, text messages, and emails** showing that I contacted the dealership almost immediately.

My advice: **DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Get your own independent mechanic to inspect the vehicle before signing anything. Read every word of the warranty, and do not assume a “powertrain warranty” will cover the repairs you expect.**

Based on my experience, **I WOULD NOT PURCHASE FROM MCMAHON MOTORS BROWARD AGAIN, AND I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP.**

The stress, inconvenience, repair bills, and continued transmission problems have not been worth it.

I’m very disappointed with this dealership and with how complicated this purchase turned out to be.

From the beginning, communication was difficult. Getting clear answers was complicated, and the whole buying process felt confusing and poorly handled.

I was told the Jeep was in perfect condition and that there was nothing to worry about. That was not true. After the purchase, I discovered multiple issues:
the Uconnect screen is damaged, coil number 5 is damaged, the shocks are above the acceptable wear limit, and the compressor is already at the end of its life. On top of that, coil number 5 is located on the harder side to access, which means more labor and more repair costs.

What also bothered me is the pricing. They say “no hidden fees,” but then there was a dealer fee, a fast title fee, and other added costs. The price also seemed to change frequently, so the final amount was not always what was shown online.

Overall, this was a very complicated and frustrating purchase. I feel like I was not given a clear or honest picture of the vehicle or the real cost of buying it.

I would strongly advise anyone considering buying from this dealership to be very careful, ask for everything in writing, and get an independent inspection before making a decision.

Disappointed and Concerned About Safety
Negligence

I purchased a vehicle from McMahon Motors Broward and was assured and specifically asked it had been inspected? I also specifically asked about inspecting the brakes and they did repaire—including the brakes. However, after taking it to my trusted mechanic, I discovered the car had no fluids, bad brakes, completely bald rear tires, and a bad battery (they did replace the battery). These are serious safety hazards that should never be overlooked, especially by a dealership claiming the vehicle was ready for sale. It’s hard to believe that during a brake repair, they wouldn’t have noticed the tire condition when I purchased the car or after the brakes had been put on the car which was also repaired for the lack of fluids—all of which have prevented me from being able to do my work.

The owner, Jose McMahon, accused me of “assaulting his employees”—an allegation I strongly deny, as I haven’t been physically near them since they completed work on my brakes. I was then accused of “extortion” by Julian Garcus, the manager for simply inquiring why the tires were bald with treat exposed which turned into a 12 inch bubble. I’ve had the car a couple weeks I requesting that the tires be replaced.

Both claims are dishonest, unfounded and deeply concerning.

Under Florida Statute § 501.204 (FDUTPA), even in an “as is” sale, dealers are prohibited from deceptive practices. Selling a car with bald tires and other safety issues without disclosing the risks could be considered a violation of this law.

On November 2, 2025 at 12:19 PM, I received a call from the owner, Jose, who accused me of “assault” against his employee Toni—despite the fact that I have never been physically near Toni. I’ve only been calling to follow up on the unresolved safety issues: no fluids, bad brakes (which they claimed to have repaired), and rear tires with no tread at all. When they repaired the brakes, I would have gladly purchased new tires had I been informed.

On November 3rd at 8:23 PM, I found myself stranded on the side of the highway once again—this time due to exposed tread and a large bubble forming in the tire. It’s deeply troubling that a vehicle was sold in such unsafe condition. This raises serious questions about the seller’s standards and accountability.

If the dealer misrepresented the vehicle’s condition, you may have legal recourse under consumer protection laws.

Here’s what Florida law says:

• In Florida, most used car sales are final under the “as is” principle, meaning the buyer accepts the car in its current condition—even with faults legalclarity....

Exceptions Under FDUTPA

• The Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA) prohibits dealers from engaging in deceptive or unfair conduct—even in “as is” sales Pike & Lusti....
• If the dealer falsely claimed the car was inspected or safe, or failed to disclose known safety hazards like bald tires, you have grounds for a legal claim.

Bald Tires and Safety

• Bald tires are considered a serious safety risk and may cause accidents due to poor traction and braking csgfirm.com.
• If the dealer advertised the car as “road-ready” or “inspected,” but sold it with bald tires, that could be seen as misrepresentation and is misleading.

The owner did offer me a refund, but since I’ve already secured financing, reversing the process would be far more complicated than replacing the bad tires they sold on the car.

Bottom line: “As is” doesn’t protect dealers from deceptive practices. If safety issues were hidden or misrepresented, you may have a case.

I can’t rate them less than 1! This dealership is ethically compromised. They withheld the true condition of a car they sold me. The vehicle was totaled (air bag deployment/accident). DO NOT purchase from them without a mechanic. They also fraudulently used my power of attorney (only for securing loan(s)). My mechanic would not work on the vehicle due to its poor condition and my spouse refused to title it. In addition to lying about the condition of the car, we have had to file an identity theft affidavit and fraud report with the financial crimes bureau in our county. We have hired an investigating firm and they are great. They have a staff attorney who pointed out more than I could have ever imagined. We will finally start our financial recovery process (01/2025) and also seek damages. PLEASE BEWARE! Do not believe those reviews that are above 2.9 stars!!!!!

I heard nightmare used car dealer stories since I was a kid. And on my first time buying a used car, I can now say I have McMahon Motors Miami to thank for my own horror used car horror nightmare.

McMahon knowingly sold my bf and I a broken car after claiming the car was fully serviced and had no issues. He went as far to say if it had problems that we could bring it back and they would fix it. We did just that after notifying the dealership immediately that the car had serious issues. They sold us a broken car, accepted the car back, refused to fix it, never did the title transfer until a month and a half after we paid the car in full. As soon as we requested a refund, they suddenly registered the car in my bfs name. The dealership has the broken car in their possession, and is now threatening to put a lien on it despite their having been paid in full for the car and our not having a loan from the dealership.

Unethical, liars, thieving, clueless dealership selling nice looking *broken* cars.
