"Handmade in Germany"
Custom e-bike ordered in July 2026, delivered 13 August, around €9,700 including delivery.
On unpacking, the handlebars turned freely against the front wheel. The stem was not clamped on the fork steerer but on an extender adapter with several split reducer shims. MiTech confirmed in writing that this fork had been intended for a different bike and was fitted by mistake. FOX's installation guide states that a steerer cut too short must be replaced.
Other items as delivered: the saddle rail bolts were not tightened, the suspension was not set up, the mudguards were misaligned, and the headlight could not be mounted.
MiTech arranged a repair at their dealer, who replaced the fork and stem and issued a written confirmation that all components had been checked and the suspension set to my weight. After collection the rear shock still bottomed out under my static weight at 220 psi. Its serial number resolves in FOX's database to a 2022 model-year OEM unit specified for a different manufacturer's frame. I also found a cable pinched under the motor cover, and the drive system cut out repeatedly on the first ride.
I declared withdrawal from the contract. To their credit, MiTech accepted it without dispute and refunded the full amount, including delivery and my travel costs, on the day the bike was handed back.
Two stars rather than one: the handling of the withdrawal was correct and fast. The build quality and final inspection were not.
