I want to write this review about this company so hopefully it stops the stress upset and heartache to others, that my mother and myself have had to endure, this company is based in Wolverhampton, around the Penn area, and surrounding areas, my mother was approached by a gentleman called Daniel Tonks, my mother is in her late 70’s and vulnerable, he came to her property to have a look at her roof as she had had some stone fall off, he used a ladder and got upon her roof to check, at which point he told her the battons were rotten and the felt was perished, he quoted my mother £7000 to have the roof battons replaced and felting redone, he straightaway ordered the scaffolding to be put up without my mother’s permission, not giving my mother a chance to refuse the job, he started the job straight away. my mother called me in a blind panic at which point I was on holiday, he did not give the option for my mother to say no to the job, once the job was done he wanted an extra £1000 more making it £8000, when it came to paying him for the job we found out he’s not on company’s house, he’s not a vat registered business, he wanted the invoice paying into a personal private account which my bank at the time refused to do, after much towing and throwing and phone calls. We finally managed to pay the invoice into his wife’s personal account which I was not completely happy with, but it was just to get rid of them. Once we had paid the invoice my mother investigated the situation and found out that replacing the battons on her roof and the felting should’ve only cost between £3000 and £4000, she contacted Daniel back and asked for a refund of half the cost which he declined to do. He offered her £500 compensation, which again he has never paid. We have given him every opportunity to pay the compensation but time and time again he comes up with an excuse and refuses to pay. He has caused so much stress to my mother who has limited savings and only lives on a pension also stress to myself, I would not recommend this company to anyone if anyone is looking for a roofer or a builder, please do your homework and do not go with midwest roofing in Wolverhampton they are complete charlatans.
