Defective Mattress, don’t waste your money by a better brand that cares about customers
I bought a Millbrook Kingsize mattresses a couple of years ago from Mattress Online. This is the fourth Millbrook mattress I have purchased for our household, unfortunately the quality is much more inferior than previous purchases which were great.
After the settling in period, the mattress developed a significant dip on one side and we started to feel the metal springs that hold the mattress together as there is no filling in this section of the mattress despit us flipping it every two weeks and rotating bi weekly in between - exactly the same as the other report on this site.
After raising this with Millbrook and then Mattress Online and multiple photos submitted, they arranged for an engineer to come out to test the mattress, but obviously his report stated no manufacturing fault; which seems to be the norm to avoid replacing. There is obviously a defect or design fault which should be covered by the guarantee/warranty. Which is heavily advertised and in fact is a scam.
No more Millbrook mattresses for me as you can’t trust their quality anymore.
Purchased a king ortho from Beds Are Uzz…
Purchased a king ortho from beds are uz online. At the time of delivery it appeared that the mattress had been folded in half at some point or bent over for transport. Marks were very visible in the outer polythene my wife pointed this out and we were told not to worry. However the mattress was used as instructed turning weekly etc. Within a few weeks we were suffering roll together into the middle, as it was soft there and we felt the inclined dip towards the middle.
We contacted the retailers who played us of with the manufactures they are close to unless don't communicate with customers but prefer to use the dealers to brunt the conversations. It seemed we had just been fobbed off playing a waiting game for a response. However we persisted because by this time I was sleeping alone my wife had many sleepless nights after rolling into one another, the tears were a result of her many nights of frustration having to go to work literally shattered. Finally the engineer came!!! (after he cancelled us twice) he was a subcontractor from Milbrook beds!!! came to complete an INDEPENDENT REPORT....What a waste of our time he placed a piece of string across the bed which was hardly taught offered a piece of paper to the dip making a dot on the paper he said its just within limits for millbrooks settlement. Outraged my wife challenged him so he laid on the bed and said well I know what you mean but I can't test spring tension that's a big machine that is not part of your home inspection! Time to call the Amex credit card company and report the fobbing off non independent report scam. Pleased to say that they credited me the full sum. However be carful some 5 months later this was recharged to me as BEDS ARE UZZ had submitted the nonsensical Milbrook report stating that it was fine just passing the piece of string test! My wife has slept in a spare bedroom for almost a year now. We are not letting them get away with this even though we are stuck because its not something we can return ourselves due to size weight and bulk. I am now looking into a section 75 claim and looking at getting some legal intervention to assist. Never again Milbrook Never again Beds Are Uzz they both play you off against one another and get fobbed off. On a side note the visit to our home illustrated that the bed base slats were 5mm to far apart we had this work completed by a trades person of course it made no difference but it is a way of getting out of warranty. Beyond Poor simply Unbelievable in this day and age of supposed customer rights
Worst millbrook bed I've ever had
Brought a super king divan bed soft mattress because of a bad back we had a millbrook a few years ago it was lovely and soft ,I phoned up on arrival of the bed to ask why the base was not a sprung base , they said because your soft mattress is better on a firm base so went on to open the mattress it was not soft so hard ,and uncomfortable, I get out of bed every morning in pain , can't afford another 1600 pounds for another new bed wish I had read if you could have returned this bed it would gave gone back , im happier sleeping on the sofa 😪 don't wake up in so much pain this bed is so hard the pillowtop tuffs stick in your back worst bed I've ever had and stuck with it..
Shocked
Bought a Millbrook divan with drawers and mattress ten years ago, was very expensive nearly £2500 from the now redundant The Bedding Centre, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Took weeks to be "made" and delivered. The pale blue damask fabric, high deep base, mattress, edging, labels and stitching were absolutely beautiful, even matching double bolster cushion. Was most uncomfortable bed ever. Had bad back because of it. Decided to ditch it after 5 years, pulled away some of the cheap black propelene from under the base, and was shocked to see hollow cheap wood. Cut open a piece of the fabric on the mattress and saw a dirty old striped mattress underneath! Could not believe it. I would suggest anyone to cut open a piece of the mattress fabric now to check, wherever u buy it from😡
My 2001 mattress is Superb
I can't say about the customer service because I have never been in touch with them. However, the mattress I bought from them 20 years ago is still the best mattress I have (I have 5 double beds) - I always look forward to sleeping on the Millbrook, its by far the most comfortable. It dosen't bounce when you move on it, it just absorbs everything and supports everywhere.
I have changed the base bed for a John Lewis Wooden frame and put the mattress on top and its even more comfortable than before.
The only complaint is that the stitching came apart after about 10 years of use (and 3 house moves!) - but I stitched it back up again and its held ever since.
My Mattress is called the Roma 2000 - I notice they don't do that one anymore, I want to get more Millbrook for my other beds but after reading the reviews here, it seems that Millbrook are not the company they once were (in 2001 when I bought mine) - so I am a little worried that their standard may have slipped. I hope not. I am thinking of getting the Majestic, does anyone have one of these?
Purchased a Millbrook Cotton Comfort…
Purchased a Millbrook Cotton Comfort 1400 Mattress from Land of Beds the service from them was very good. However very unhappy with the poor quality of the mattress, the surface has flattened and the tufting used is very uncomfortable it seems to be lacking enough filling to make it live up to the name Cotton Comfort it is far from that I notice that this mattress is no longer produced by Millbrook I wonder why ?? perhaps others have complained about the poor quality of this product.
Design fault - should be covered by warrenty
I bought two Millbrook mattresses a few years ago. My wife is very slight and so eventually ( with the help of Beds r Uz in Maidenhead - who really seem to care about their customers) one bed was changed to a soft firmness.
After the settling in period, my wife started to feel the metal tabs that hold the mattress together - exactly the same as the other report on this site.
An engineer came to test the mattress, but obviously his report stated no manufacturing fault ; this is obviously a design fault and I believe that should be covered by the guarantee/warrenty.
No more Millbrook mattresses for me.
Bought a millbrook mattress
Bought a millbrook mattress, a majestic 6000. Most uncomfortable matress i have ever owned. The nylon type ties they use to pull the tufts either side together dig in to you once the mattress settles in. Contacted millbrook by email and by messaging on their website and did not get one single reply. When you concider i am only 11st and my partner is only 12st and we can feel these things digging in to you as you sleep. Id advice not to buy off this company as they do not care enough to respone to you. The company we bought the bed through also in skewen in neath south wales will not refund as they do not see it as a fault or it might be they dont want to part with giving our money back on a fault that was not disclosed on buying this mattress as they admitted some people do find the binding that holds the tufts digs in to them. Funny they did not disclose ot whilst i asked about the matress. Do not deal wirh millbrook mattress that is our advice. I will now be contacting my union to see about taking the legal route to recover my money on this horribly uncomfortable mattress as millbrook are refusing to reply to me directly i will see if taking the legal route will get a better responce! Cannot give lower than 1star rating. If i could id give zero!
I bought a kingsize Millbrook Compass…
I bought a kingsize Millbrook Compass mattress which was delivered end of November 2020. There was a dip in the middle and lumps on the side, which did not seem right. I was advised to turn it every week and that it would settle. Instead, it got worse. I had a bed engineer who came to test and inspect the mattress. It has confirmed that there are broken springs in the middle of the bed. I am just over 8st and my partner 9.5st. I am still waiting for a plan of action from Millbrook and Jones &Tomlin Bognor Regis. I am not inclined to buy this brand ever again
I bought a Millbrook Wool Ortho 1000…
I bought a Millbrook Wool Ortho 1000 Pocket Mattress firm, it’s great value and quality I am really pleased with my purchase.
Bought my milbrook matress a year ago…
Bought my milbrook matress a year ago ordered a soft matress and got a hard matress. Thought it would give in time, but hasn't, really uncomfortable it's like sleeping on boulders especially as we paid £1200 for it and we can't afford another one!!
I ordered the Millbrook Wool Luxury…
I ordered the Millbrook Wool Luxury 5000 Pocket Mattress with a medium/firm rating in order to replace a very old orthopaedic mattress. I had been getting lumbosacral pain and neck pain when waking up most mornings and assumed this was normal.
I was quite tempted to get the man advertised bed in a box as they appear to have so many great deals.
I am glad I chose this one, as it is not too hot, there is a spring in the movement and has excellent temperature control. My pains had gone as soon as I slept on it but felt I should wait a month at least before writing my review.
Overall, I am very happy with this mattress and will follow the instructions on turning it.
I would advise ordering from a company that will delivery directly to your room - as it is heavy and remove your previous mattress too.
Try them out in a shop .
It is strange when you purchase a bed and and see other reviews that seem to be different to yours . I purchased Millbrook Albion. It is the lower end of the bed line priced at £1400 but if you search hard online you can find it a lot cheaper from £640 to £1400. It is important to buy the correct bed for your body weight. So many people buy a soft or medium when you are are a large person this doesn't work. Then the company ends up with bad reviews. You've got to think a 15 stone person with his partner weighing 11 stone is a lot of weight for anything. And as British people are getting bigger it's important to buy a firm rating or even extra firm to get maximum support. I'm sure that's this is the reason why people give bad reviews mainly because they bought the wrong bed for their weight. I did purchase a Harrison Spinks. This was a mistake as the quality build between the two is a large difference. The springs on the Harrison's collapsed on the edges. This is why I changed to a Millbrook Albion with its 5000 spring it works for me . My partner weighs 20 stone and I weigh 11 stone so to get a bed that works is important, I was nervous at the start to think I've been and bought a bed that didn't work before for.and the customer services at Harrison Spinks was very poor. They weren't willing even to change the bed a higher quality even though it was 1 week old and protected. I was just shown the two fingers buy Harrison Spinks. At least now I have a bed that what is good quality and has the springing that can take the weight . Try your bed out in the shop and then go online always buy with a credit card as this gives you much more or support when things go wrong. Always go to your credit card for advice asked for disputes team to help you .
Oh! for a good nights sleep again.
First let me say that both my wife and I are in our eighties, we are quite agile, not fat and certainly not heavy. We have a Super King Sized bed, on a Millbrook Base and with 2 x 3 foot wide matresses which zip together in the centre, forming a single mattress, at least thats the theory!.
Shortly after moving to Bognor Regis we decided to invest in two new mattresses, so we contacted Land of Beds and in November 2017 we purchased two new quite expensive Millbrook Mattresses.
But in April 2018, we had to replace the 2 centrally zipped 3 foot wide, quite expensive 10 years guaranteed Millbrook Matresses, as both matresses had collapsed in their centres.
Getting them replaced took months of discussion and visits from Bed Engineers, who carefully examined the collapsed springs in the central area of the two mattresses. Finally Land of Beds informed us that Millbrook would give us us an allowance against 2 new mattresses.
So on the 27th April 2018 we bought 2 new expensive and Exclusive Sandringham Mattresses, paying another £800+ more, and the matresses came with another 10 years guarantee.
In the meantime we moved in 2019 from Bognor Regis to Crawley and I am sorry to report that by early 2020 the 2 new Sandringham Exclusive mattresses had both developed collapsed springs and miss-shapen areas, towards the centre of the bed in both mattresses. It is like having small slopes in the bed which you have to roll up and down, with lumps and bumps, its awful and a dreadful nights sleep.
So on the 9th June 2020, i.e.nearly 2 months ago, we contacted land of beds, sending lots of pictures showing the mattresses slopes and bumps, which by now are quite conspicuos and awful to sleep on.
But todate nothing has happened and time is rushing bye and our aged lives are rapidly diminishing.
We have emailed, phoned tried all we can, so we decided to expose our problems via Trust Pilot, hoping that this will make something occur to resolve our awful situation.
2 days ago we even called Millbrook directly, but of course everything today is slow and everyone blames their delays in responding on Covid19, perhaps this complaint will now bring us some results, before we have to go to Dreams and get a good nights sleep.
Millbrook NOT recommended.
I bought a Millbrook mattress a year ago. I had requested a soft one as I suffer disability from radiotherapy. When it arrived it was rock hard and I slept in a chair for two weeks. I was advised that there was nothing wrong with it. After spending one whole year of rotten sleep I ended up buying another mattress from a different company. It’s heavenly sleeping now. I will never buy another Millbrook mattress.
Have always bought Millbrook beds they…
Have always bought Millbrook beds they are the best you can get, last years and the service is also excellent, yes you have to turn the mattress periodically but this keeps the comfort freshness and helps it to last
Disappointed with my Millbrook…
Disappointed with my Millbrook mattress, the main problem for me is that I was not told I would have to turn the mattress every week for four months and then every month. The mattress is extremely heavy and I have to rely on someone to help me turn it. I would not buy another Millbrook mattress for this reason. Please only buy this mattress if you’re prepared and strong enough to turn it! I have tried emailing Millbrook and they’ve ignored my email.....very disappointed.
WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
I wanted to buy a quality bed from a reputable company. It didn't happen.
You have to buy through a retailer of theirs, so I purchased through ebedz online. In all I have paid for a motion memory adjustable bed, that was 5 weeks ago for what I thought was the payment but due to a fabric change I had to pay £50 extra..
They advertise that they can expedite beds in as little as 48 hours, well I for one don't believe it. Its now over 5 weeks since I placed my order & neither ebedz or Millbrook will give me one simple answer "WHEN WILL MY BED BE INSTALLED". Its not an unreasonable request but both pass the buck & dont answer. In the end I got my answer from Panther their Delivery Company, who I must say where amazing & part of the reason for changing my review..
Everything would have been perfect had the retailer have quoted delivery times, rather than ASAP, which isnt a date. The bed looks great & has yet to be tried but its quality & appearance is excellent. After contacting Millbrook I found them to be very polite & had they have given me a delivery date or contacted me as they said they would, I would have matched the star quality to the bed.
