I paid and logged into Net Nanny and…

I paid and logged into Net Nanny and they told me all I needed to know about what they did, but never had any way that I could find to apply it to my computer. Very frustrating and not user friendly. I would not recommend Net Nanny to anyone.

Wish I had read these reviews first. Truly awful. Constantly glitches. Spent over an hour stuck in loops and server glitches trying to set it up. Was not on my end. Apparently a known issue. Don't waste your money.

Very poor experience

Doesn't let you cancel your subscription and doesn't even work properly on desktop.

The fact that there is no discernible way to cancel the auto-renewal on their websites is of course the worst thing about Net Nanny. I had to cancel the recurring payment in my PayPal dashboard...

The second-worst thing is that it breaks Firefox completely and forces the usage of a certificate that isn't trusted by my browsers, making them completely unusable.

There is are no options in their dashboard to adjust certificate settings, application settings or browser settings for desktop.

I don't understand why this software is recommended by people on the internet.

The only positive I found is that uninstalling the software made all the problems go away again.

Does not work properly

Does not work properly. On restart it doesn't always automatically kick in, you have to sign in again. The Mac has not worked properly since installing it: downloads freeze, Internet freezes. I have, as yet, had no response from customer service in regards to these problems.

March 5 2024 I upped the rating from 1 star to 2, because they eventually did respond to my emails and they gave me a refund without too much hassle, perhaps in response to this review.

Does not work as advertised

I installed this on my son's 9th generation iPad. It's supposed to be possible to set time limits and downtime periods. These were ignored by every app other than web browsers; it was possible to use YouTube, Roblox, and download and install apps from the App Store, during the time when the iPad was in 'no internet' mode.

The parent web portal did some hilariously buggy things e.g. your child has used 0 hours of his 3 hours, therefore he has exhausted his time, and the iPad is in 'No Internet' mode (which doesn't work properly anyway); at 9 a.m. it reported that he had been on the iPad for 15 hours; at one point, the reported time usage ticked upwards at a rate of 5 minutes every second.

I gave up trying to get this to work after 3 days of going back and forth with tech support (who were helpful, but could not solve the issue), and obtained a refund. Perhaps I was just unlucky but I saw nothing to merit the shining reviews that this product gets. Not worth the hassle.

Luck to get 1 star

Luck to get 1 star. Waste of money. Can be circumnavigated. Appalling customer service as they are my password administrator and i need access to my account to add something to my blocked list. 3 times i've asked and no respose.

Bad service, auto renewal, can’t cancel.

Service was not good. Also they enrolled me in autopay which I don’t remember agreeing to, and there is no where on their site that you can cancel subscription. If there was less than 1 star I would give them that.

Service is not reliable, software is horrible

Service is not reliable, no agents available ever on the website chat, they do not even provide information in any regard to the questions I had submitted, their documentation online is completely out of date, no way to unsubscribe anywhere,. When pausing a device or disabling internet for a phone, it will not work unless you manually synchronize the netnanny from the phone, least to say it will never work as no kid will be doing this, the reports on the dashboard will only show you data from 7 am to 1pm, no way to personalize it, the App refresh is horrible, absolutely not a good software, not user-friendly at all

Does not work with Mac Monterey

According to the FAQs, NetNanny works with Mac iOS 10.7 and above; however, after paying and installing the program and finding it did not function, I was told by customer support that Monterey isn't supported.

Absolutely impossible to cancel

Absolutely impossible to cancel. The money keeps coming out of my account. The bank has had to put a block on them. Don't go near this company!

Beware: You will be charged forever – here's how to get your money back

Unfortunately Net Nanny are part of the growing trend of companies that deliberately (and immorally), sign you up for auto-renewal. In other words they consciously choose not to provide you with options to not be charged for a service you likely won't want to continue, (ie. corporate theft).

They don't provide an option when signing up to opt into auto-renewal – or even an option where you have to opt-out of auto-renewal. There is just no option.

Any reasonable customer would think they are only signing up once for 12-months, until they receive an email after they have charged you exactly 366 days later, 'thanking you for choosing Net Nanny'.

And, this is where it is immoral – ironically for a company that prides itself on being the upholder of morals –

1. No opt-in or opt-out on sign up
2. No mention that you are on auto-renewal
3. No warning message that they are about to charged you again (so you can opt-out)
4. No ability to change the auto-renewal yourself in your account settings (despite the T&Cs incorrectly indicating this was possible)
5. No accurate messaging about how to change your auto-renewal on the website
6. Only way you can change it is by contacting Net Nanny via email

Here's the punchline – when contacted they claimed that they have altered my 'No Hassles Billing' setting. Sorry – if I wanted 'no hassles billing', I would imagine that not taking unauthorised funds from my account would be a good starting point – that's 'No Hassle Billing', not being charged under false pretences.

IF THEY CHARGE YOU ––––
Ask for evidence that you were given a choice to opt-out of auto-renewal when signing up to The Service. There simply isn't any choice – ever – given to you.

Clause 9(d) of your Terms of Conditions:
“By CHOOSING a recurring payment plan, you acknowledge that such Services have an initial and recurring payment feature and you accept responsibility for all recurring charges prior to cancellation.”

Secondly, point out that their Terms and Conditions fail to disclose that you need to contact Net Nanny directly to cancel an account. Hence, they deliberately obfuscate the process by providing incorrect information. There is no mention of requiring customers to contact you in all instances if they do not want to be charged forever.

Clause 9(g) of your Terms of Conditions:
“To cancel auto-renewal or otherwise change or resign your Subscription Services at any time, go to the corresponding Account Settings on the Services or, for applications, cancel your subscription in the subscription management section of the applicable App Store.”

I have not used this application in years YET....

I have not used this application in years yet you keep stealing my money from my credit card after asking you to stop and not offering a way to stop paying you in your control panel, or offering an option to let any present subscription expire! this is also also known as theft, will be reporting you to the relevant authorities and putting notices warning others of this underhanded behavior please stop stealing from my credit card! I do not want your application and I do not use it?

i hate net nanny you know that kids like 5 years old or something don't need this app it just makes them more egar to on their phone or other mobile device.
