A Nightmare for SEN Students: Broken Systems, Victim-Blaming, and Cruel Manipulation. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

If you are an international student, especially one who is neurodivergent (ADHD/SEN), please save your money and mental health. Do not take the Oxford ELLT. My trust in this exam is now absolute ZERO. Here is what you will face:

1. A Broken, Unreliable System
During my Listening test, the audio severely lagged and skipped. It took me days of relentlessly chasing them via email just to get a simple system reset so I could actually take the test.

2. Victim-Blaming & Fake SEN Support
I followed their official SEN handbook perfectly. On May 21st, a staff member named Someone officially approved my ADHD extra-time accommodation. I purchased the test license that exact same day. However, when I took the Reading test, the extra time was completely missing.
When I reported this, Someone refused to apologize. Instead, he BLAMED ME, stating: "I checked your account and at that time there was still no purchased licence... you also did not indicate when you intended to sit the test." (If he checked exactly 5 minutes after approving my request, of course it wasn't there yet!)
I pointed out that NOWHERE in their handbook, nor in his approval email, does it state that SEN students must manually notify them again after purchasing the test or report an exact test date. Instead of acknowledging this hidden administrative trap, Someone doubled down, repeating the exact same excuses to blame me. I simply wanted the accommodations I am rightfully entitled to, but instead, I have to constantly fight their broken system and endure baseless accusations for their own incompetence.
3. Cruel Gaslighting and Manipulation
The most absurd part happened next. After resetting the Reading test, Someone had previously emailed me stating, "This matter has now been resolved. Your Reading test has been reset, and the approved accommodation has been applied to both the Reading and Writing modules." I thought I could finally test in peace. However, a day later, he sent another seemingly polite email: "We are awaiting your confirmation on how you would like to proceed... Once we receive your instructions, we will advise on next steps."

As a neurodivergent person, I take words literally. I believed he genuinely wanted to help, so I replied in good faith with my instructions. The VERY SECOND I replied, I received an Auto-Reply stating Mr. You-KNow-Who is on vacation until June 26th! There was no mention of anyone taking over my urgent case.
He faked a helpful email just to bait my reply so he could close his ticket and go on holiday, leaving me completely abandoned.

I have received zero apologies. I kept wondering what I did wrong to be treated with such disrespect and manipulation. I now realize my only mistake was taking this test. They do not care about SEN students; they only care about taking your money and going on vacation. Absolutely disgusting.

Misleading Information and Poor Communication Throughout the Process

Very disappointing experience with Oxford International.

I was given misleading and incomplete information about tuition fee requirements. I was initially told around 70% fee payment would be required, but later at the final stage I was suddenly told 100% upfront payment was needed, which was never clearly mentioned before.

There was also poor communication throughout the process. My queries were ignored for days, and I only received a generic apology later without any proper resolution or accountability.

This caused a lot of stress, confusion, and financial concern. Students should be given clear and transparent information from the beginning.

I travelled thousands of miles for…

I travelled thousands of miles for this.
Four weeks, paid in full, before I even arrived. That is not merely a financial commitment it is an act of faith in an institution that carries the Oxford name.
What I encountered in class G01 was something I did not anticipate: a teacher who met student errors not with correction, but with quiet ridicule. We come here precisely because we make mistakes. That is the entire point of learning. When an educator uses a student’s vulnerability as material for amusement, something fundamental has been broken.
I stopped attending after one week. Not out of laziness. Not out of difficulty. But because no person should have to purchase their own humiliation.
The administration was informed. The administration was unmoved.
The class continued, Monday to Friday, 1:00 to 2:30, with or without me. The schedule was honoured. The student was not.
I did not lose money here. Money can be recovered.
What was taken from me was something harder to rebuild the confidence to try.

They should fix their process.

During my language course at Oxford International, I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. As a result, both I and many of my classmates decided to change schools.

Every Monday, regular classes are replaced with a weekly test, which means students consistently lose one full day of lessons. At other language schools, Monday classes are not taken away from students’ weekly study time.

Although the teachers are listed as “instructors,” many of them struggled to explain even basic vocabulary and grammar rules. Compared to other language schools, there are also fewer elective class options. Even though our entire class expressed dissatisfaction with our teacher, no changes were made.

These comments come not only from my personal experience but also from many conversations I had with other students. Based on these collective experiences, it is clear that the quality of teaching needs urgent improvement.

Additionally, the homestay accommodation I was placed in was terrible. The bigger issue, however, was the lack of support. Although the school said they would help, they completely ignored the situation. After I sent a written email explaining the problems, they began ignoring me as well.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with this institution. After paying a $1,000 application fee, successfully passing the interview, and submitting all the required documents (CRC Police report, medical examination, renewed international passport, NECO scratch card for certificate verification), I also paid over 50% of the tuition fee along with related bank charges.

Despite fulfilling every requirement, I was later informed that I would not be issued a PAL or LOA because the program was oversubscribed. This was not my fault, yet I was left without admission.

When I requested a refund, I was told it would take 30 working days (6 weeks) to process, even though it took them less than 48 hours to debit my account for payments. This delay is unfair and unacceptable, especially since the situation arose due to the institution’s oversubscription and poor planning.

Overall, this has been a horrible and frustrating experience. I would not recommend Oxford International Career Colleges, Halifax campus, to anyone considering studying there.

No support, no response my Oxford English Test is stuck! the Oxford Test of English on 17…

I took the Oxford Test of English on 17 July 2025, and due to an internet and electricity issue, my Listening module was interrupted and is now locked. I completed the Reading and Writing sections, but I am unable to proceed with the Speaking module because the Listening section is not unlocked.
I have sent 10+ emails to different addresses
I also filled the contact form on their website multiple times and even tried calling their UK number +44 1865 521498, but there is no reply, just an auto-response every time. My portal will expire on 16 August, and I’m extremely stressed. This is unacceptable. I paid for a test, and now no one is helping me to complete it. If this is not resolved, I will be forced to escalate further and file a complaint. Please take this seriously. I need your urgent help.

The worst college experience

The worst college experience. Terrible organization, no planning of excursions and activities, indifferent staff, only focused on saving money. We went to Bradfield this year, and the management was rude, unhelpful, and completely disorganized. The parents of my students constantly complained about all their shortcomings.

Unprofessional

I recently had the unfortunate experience of applying for the Centre Manager position at Oxford International Education Group. The recruitment process, particularly the online interview, left a lot to be desired and has left me with a negative impression of the organisation.

The interview was scheduled for today (01 May 2024)via Microsoft Teams with the Recruitment Manager, Mr. Luke Newsholme. However, to my dismay, Luke failed to show up for the interview, wasting my time and demonstrating a lack of professionalism and respect. This is a clear red flag for all stakeholders, as it reflects poorly on the organisation's communication and commitment to its potential employees and learners including parents/guardians.

As a candidate, I was looking forward to the opportunity to discuss my qualifications and experience with Oxford International Education Group. However, the lack of punctuality and respect for my time has left me questioning the organisation's values and priorities. This has led me to immediately withdraw my candidacy.

In conclusion, my experience with Oxford International Education Group has been disappointing and unprofessional. I would strongly advise potential applicants and parents to reconsider their decision to apply for positions within this organisation, as it may not be the best fit for those seeking a professional and respectful work environment.

I have also left a Google review.

Poor Junior programmes

My niece joined the Junior programmes 2022 in the centre of Greenwich as an individual student with no accommodation. She took English lessons during 4 weeks, the first 2 with activities and excursions too.

The organisation of everyday lessons was a chaos. My niece had to ask every morning for her daily plan, and nobody there seemed to know what it was.

The first day I went with her to make sure everything was working fine, in the address provided by the Admissions Officer. However, we jumped from one building to another up to 4 times. Even worse, my niece didn't finally take any lessons that day, and the first week she only had 2 days of lessons (a waste of time and money).

Activities and excursions were insignificant. She was brought to shopping up to 6 times, sometimes spending over 3 hours at the shopping center. By contrast, barely 1 hour in only 2 museums. Other activities were just walks across the city with no information at all from monitors about what the students were visiting.

Therefore, the value for money is terrible. Very expensive for what the students get in exchange. The money invested isn't reflected in the quality of activities, meals, and lessons received.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this Junior programmes for those who take English lessons seriously.
