I had used previous solicitors for remortgages; however, the dream team of Joanna Doyle as the solicitor and Rebecca Koncewiz were brilliant at handling ours, even though we had a complicated process. Joanne took the time to explain a likely resolution clearly and, above all, was very empathetic to our mortgage journey. Joanne is now our go-to for this and other mortgage needs.

Diana Walker was our conveyancer at Ramsden’s Solicitors. She was always efficient, straightforward, available and approachable. A human face to a frustrating process that’s increasingly hard to navigate. She’s very experienced and has a refreshing no- non essence approach.

The main solicitor Sarah Harrop and her assistant Bethany Smith were amazing. Our father died and we had to deal with a very bad mortgage company who would not reduce the debt so Sarah had to undertake more measures than a normal conveyancing service to deal with the sale to allow us to be able to take action against the mortgage company after the sale. Her expertise made the whole process far easier and she made sure all basses were covered so we could go on and take action after the sale of the estates property. When she wasn't available her assistant Bethany deputised and did a great job. The property is now sold and the costs to sell were very reasonable. As a family we would recommend Ramsdens and Sarah and Bethany to everyone and especially an estate dealing with a sale of it's property.

I was recommended Ramsdens through Calderdale Stay Safe, and unfortunately, from start to finish, my experience was an absolute nightmare.

The first solicitor I was allocated failed to mention that she was pregnant and would be leaving part way through my case. Had I known this from the outset, I would have requested another solicitor. Unfortunately, I also found that she simply wasn’t listening to my situation or taking the time to understand what I was going through. I spent a huge amount of time running around gathering information and providing documents, only to then be told that she hadn’t received them and asked to send them again or drop them into the office. This caused me an enormous amount of unnecessary stress, and by the end I was actually relieved that she was leaving.

I was then passed to a second solicitor, and it felt like I was having to start all over again. Once again, I felt as though I was banging my head against a wall trying to get my situation understood.

I eventually found myself having to research what could and couldn’t be done, then send that information to my solicitor so that she could essentially put it into an email. I couldn’t help but question what I was actually paying for if I was having to do the research and legwork myself.

The final straw came when I was asked to forget about the undertaking order I had in place against my ex-husband and vacate my home so that he could enter the property to collect the remainder of his belongings.

I was absolutely shocked by this. The undertaking was there to protect me, and my home was the one place where I felt safe. I made it very clear that I was not prepared to do this. I was then asked, “Well, how else is he going to get his items?”

Given the circumstances and the abuse I had experienced from my ex-husband, I found this response extremely upsetting. Throughout my time with Ramsdens, I felt there was very little care, compassion or understanding shown towards me as a person and what I had been through.

My overall experience was that the focus was on emails, paperwork and getting paid rather than actually listening to and supporting the person they were representing. I frequently felt that my emails were not being read thoroughly, and I was left feeling frustrated, stressed and completely unsupported.

I would absolutely not recommend Ramsdens based on my experience, and I will never use their services again.

When you are already going through an incredibly difficult and traumatic situation, the last thing you need is to feel like you have to fight to be heard by the people who are supposed to be supporting you.
