Serve Legal Avis 

I started working for this company in March 2026 and left in April because, honestly, it just wasn’t financially worth it for me to continue.

A lot of the jobs ended up costing me money rather than making me money. The alcohol audits were capped at £2 reimbursement, but most of the time it was impossible to actually find the required products for that price, so I regularly had to pay extra out of my own pocket just to complete the audit properly.

The knife audits were even worse. Some stores simply didn’t stock the cheaper knives listed, so I had no choice but to buy more expensive ones. At one point I spent £13 on a knife and only got £4 back. Once you add in fuel, travel and the unreimbursed costs, I was basically losing money.

I also think this kind of work is far harder if you don’t live in a big city. I was regularly driving 30–40 minutes between locations, often completely out of my way. On football match days especially, the workload became ridiculous. One day I had around 22 audits spread across different areas, which ended up taking around 9 hours once driving and waiting around were included. When I worked it out, I was earning roughly £5 an hour for the day.

The mileage payment didn’t help either. They paid 24p per mile, which is nowhere near enough considering fuel prices and wear on your car. You end up covering a lot of the costs yourself.

Another frustrating part was the lack of support. If there was a problem during an audit, an item couldn’t be found, or you needed clarification, it was very difficult to actually get hold of someone. It just added unnecessary stress and wasted more time.

I’m also on Universal Credit, which caused even more issues. The company paid me around £91 in April, but in May I only actually received about £35. Despite that, they still reported to Universal Credit that I’d been paid the full £91, which reduced my UC payment and left me out of pocket.

Even after I left, they continued contacting me asking me to complete audits. I stopped responding because it felt like they would just keep increasing the bonus until someone eventually agreed to do the job, which says a lot about how unrealistic some of the audits were in the first place.

Overall, my experience was really disappointing. The job ended up costing me more than I earned, the support and communication were poor, and the reimbursement system just didn’t reflect real-world costs.

I've been working with Serve Legal for around 5 months and really enjoy my job, I'm always recommending it to friends, it's a really appropriate job for young people who want to avoid shifts or hours-based contracts, and also supplies lots of free food and drink - I noticed other reviews mentioning tax on expenses - this is annoying, but you're very unlikely to reach the threshold anyway

I've been with the company for around 6 months, and I've enjoyed it right from the start. The work is interesting and pays decently, and I've been able to travel to some cool places while working. The staff are super friendly and always quick to get back to you if you have any problems or queries, and they've been so accommodating with moving work around my university schedule. I can confidently say that Serve Legal is the best employer I've worked for.

Working with Serve Legal during my gap year before uni has been a great opportunity to earn some extra money alongside my regular work that I would highly recommend to others! It has been interesting to do something a bit different and is something great to put on your CV. Additionally, I would say auditing is great for building confidence as you interact with so many people through the work. The area managers are always attentive and helpful too!

I've been working for Serve Legal for a few months now and overall it's been really enjoyable. At the start it can be quite daunting and stressful completing audits on your own, but after the first few weeks you do start to get the hang of things. Whilst the pay may not be as high as some other jobs I think this is a reasonable sacrifice for people aged 16-19 to make to secure much needed work experience in this day and age. The freedom and flexibility to choose deadlines for your audits is also another benefit for working for Serve Legal as well as the area managers being helpful and friendly to communicate with when you need them.

I joined Serve Legal in 2026 and its been a pleasure to work for this company. Working for Serve Legal is flexible around my university life and I can always ask for work extension deadlines if university work gets in the way. I was nervous when I first started but all my area managers have been very supportive. Working at Serve Legal is an opportunity to build communication confidence and build rejection confidence too. As someone who can't drive, public transport is reimbursed for any audits I do and travelling lets me see new shops/places too in towns/cities I've not yet been to.

I’ve been with Serve Legal since Feb 2025 and I would highly recommend becoming an auditor with them! Some of my friends have since joined too!
There is usually plenty of work available in my area but is also very flexible, great as a side hustle.
My area managers have been very helpful and supportive.

Good company, relatively easy work for the pay and a good variety of work available. Good communication and recognition

There is a variety of audit roles & processes available depending on the suitability of the auditor although I have to confess that the communication from managers could improve especially with new colleagues.
Also admin issues have been known to affect the pay even though we are meeting our targets & deadlines.

Was doing this for a year and overall the pay for the amount of time spent working is really not worth your time, unnecessarily stressful.

A lot of the time, they pay you nothing at all for tiny mistakes… and somehow get away with it. I spent a full day trying to finish all the audits to barely get paid anything

The staff are also very unpleasant

I told them I can’t drive multiple times and was still assigned an audit on a motorway…

It’s just taking advantage of young people

Brilliant been working for the company for a few years always great with updating and good communication and great different people to contact if needed it now and someone was on annual leave.
I recommend working for them, if you don’t it gives me more audits 😉

I’ve only ever interacted with really friendly people and everyone is super understanding. The work can be intense at times but so can every other job out there. I’d highly recommend after about two years with Serve Legal!

The area managers and internal staff of Serve Legal are amazing, the support given and flexibility in work they provide also are amazing. I’ve enjoyed being an auditor for the age restriction testing areas, particularly in the North & Central London patch. Appreciate it loads.

I joined Serve Legal in January 2024 and it is a fantastic way to earn a bit of money and I have recommended it to so many of my friends! The opportunities for 18-20 are brilliant - especially on the delivery side of things. I do wish as an “improvement” there were more delivery opportunities for over 21.

I joined Serve Legal in 2024 and I have really enjoyed it! When I first started I was nervous because I’d never done anything like it before, but everyone I’ve worked with has been amazingly supportive and has helped me every step of the way. The work can be quite intimidating at first, but it becomes quick and easy when you get into it! Working for ServeLegal has really helped me develop skills such as confidence and communication, both things I’ve struggled with in the past. Having flexible work to do around my daily life really helps too - it gives me some cash on the side whilst also allowing me to still get on with life!

I would reccomend Serve Legal to anyone who is looking for a sidehustle to gain some extra money.
Work is usually always available, and the area managers, and honestly the whole serve legal community is fantastic, with some brilliant people.

I absolutely love working with servelegal. Based on the number of jobs you take up, you can make good money also the managers are super supportive.

Great communication from managers and work is assigned whenever you want or need. Perfect job to have on the side of another or for uni students. Personally, I balance it alongside another job and I find it easy to do both.

I've been carrying out work for Serve Legal since late 2024.

It's not for everyone. Sometimes you need thick skin, sometimes you need to work incognito to the point where paranoia seeps in, but it really is enjoyable work. Every experience is different, and it's been refreshing to experience so many things, even in the middle of the night!

All of my experiences with the staff have been super-helpful, and I've struck up a good rapport with lots of people who work for the company.

I feel valued.
