My experience with SF Cars and Commercials was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

I purchased a van from them in good faith, only for it to develop serious faults shortly afterwards. The vehicle ultimately became unusable and spent a significant amount of time off the road, causing considerable inconvenience, disruption and expense.

What disappointed me most was not the fact that a vehicle developed problems, as mechanical failures can happen with any used vehicle. It was the complete lack of support I received from SF Cars and Commercials once those problems became apparent. Throughout the entire dispute, I felt abandoned and was left to deal with the consequences largely on my own. Despite the seriousness of the situation, I received no meaningful assistance or practical help in resolving the matter.

As a result, I had no option but to pursue a Section 75 claim through my credit card provider, MBNA. For those unfamiliar with Section 75, it is a legal protection under consumer law that makes a credit card company jointly liable with a retailer when goods are misrepresented or not of satisfactory quality. The provider investigates the evidence from both sides before reaching a decision.

Following a lengthy investigation, MBNA found in my favour and refunded me in full. This included the purchase price and other losses arising from the issues with the vehicle.

The only reason this matter was ultimately resolved was because MBNA stepped in and upheld my claim; it was certainly not due to any assistance provided by the dealer. The process took months to resolve and caused a great deal of unnecessary stress. Had SF Cars and Commercials taken responsibility and engaged constructively from the outset, much of this could have been avoided.

A dealer's true quality is measured not when a sale is made, but when something goes wrong afterwards. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend SF Cars and Commercials and would strongly advise prospective customers to consider carefully before purchasing from them.

Clio-white - XLW. Issues after 4 days and they did everything to try and prevent me from getting out of the finance. Fortunately the broker and finance were on my side and eventually after nearly a year of issues i got out. May 2025 - When i was sold this car, i was told it had a few bumps and scratches but was a really good car. 4 days after purchase, the car broke down and every emergency light come on the dashboard. I took it to Halfords who informed me the car needed a new pressure fuel pump and all new piping. As you can imagine, i wasn't the best pleased. I rang S&F who told me to come down and they would look at it. So i did with my friend. When i got there he said ‘oh you’re not use to diesel cars’. He said it was just the dpf that needed cleaning and his words ‘halfords are fitters not fixers’. I knew there was more wrong but i was sent on my way. A week later the same thing happened. This time i ring my finance and keep them up to date with everything! I ring S&F again and get told to fetch it down. I cant get it down straight away as I’m at work but they charge ME £150 for recovery as it wasn't drivable. It went to them in July. There is next to no communication between us. I got told it was ready for collection multiple time and each time they would cancel on the day and say it wasn't ready. I got the car back 8 WEEKS LATER, for a job that should have taken no more than a week. Apparently they were short staffed so they couldn’t clean it for me. 8 weeks and they couldn’t even be bothered to clean the mess they had made. I got told they had done a 60 mile test drive. This was also a lie. They also said i would get the £150 back for inconvenience. I never got this back! I get the car back and there is a knocking sound from the driver well that wasnt there before. By this point i am so angry and stressed. I take it my garage who are amazing and they tell me not to drive this car as it is too dangerous to be on the road! We’re now in September, i’m still paying finance and i have a car that is now too dangerous to drive due to S&F. The broker sent out an inspector to look at the car who refused to drive it as it was so dangerous to drive. I drove 2 and half hours back from S&F to home to find out the wheel was about to fall off and it could have been fatal. The finance and broker started an investigation. I start to go through all of the services and garage reports for this car. I find out that there was issues with the pressure fuel pump previous to me buying the car. There is then zero evidence to prove this ever got sorted. I was sold this car with S&F knowing the issues. Fast forward to Christmas time. S&F are now ignoring the car broker to get me out of the finance. They are given deadlines which they do not respond to. This is where they now try everything to delay me getting out of the finance. The car is taken from me by the broker so they can sell the car at auction for the money. S&F then decide they want the car back. They say they are going to collect the car multiple times. They never turn up. Eventually they collect the car. They have inspections done which prove this isn’t my fault. To delay more they then want the finance to pay for MOT and funds to fix the car. The finance obviously refuse this. S&F then try to get a large amount of money from the finance and say that i have damaged the car. I had this car for 2 months before it was completely non drivable. 8 weeks of that, S&F had the car. The finance and broker knew exactly what S&F were doing and assured me that they are aware i had done no damages. I finally get out of the finance april 2026! Nearly a year of stress, no car, a finance i had to pay! PLEASE dig deep into the cars history and check the car at your local garage before spending your money here. The worse customer service i have ever received. I have never been treated more disgusting than these guys have treat me. I don't know how they are in business. Please think twice before buying from here, it will save you a hell load of stress and worries.

Scammers selling not road worthy cars. Only mentioned brake issues after purchase took it to the garage and multiple issues were found. Garage wouldn't let me drive it, and he drove it back to Brentford and put it up for sale again 2 days later. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

AVOID !!! Any thing that rightfully needs fixing within their "warranty" they will claim it's "wear and tear" and refuse to respond to your communications.

In total I had to pay just over £700 in garage bills because this "Car" dealer happily sold me a vehicle that was NOT roadworthy and had major safety issues.

Their website claims a "115 point AA check" When I purchased the car it had over 11 months MOT. Note: The AA actually state its a 155 point check.

Within 24 hours I noticed it had a cracked and deformed tyre making it vibrate the cabin and shake excessively at motorway speeds. Faulty TPMS sensor that needed replacing and reprogramming at a Renault dealership. Tracking was dangerously pulling to the left above 40mph. Thermostat housing was cracked and leaking coolant. Headlight aim was way too high blinding oncoming vehicles. The air conditioning didn't work, the guy who sold me the car confirmed it worked perfectly. But it needed re-gassing.

I am currently in the process of filing a claim through the small claims court.

When I Informed a staff member on the phone of my intentions their nonchalant response was "GO FOR IT". They literally don't care about their reputation or their customers. They are just here to make money.

The owner/employee of the business ignored my numerous requests of reimbursement and has metaphorically stuck their middle finger up at me. If you want to buy a used car from a trusted dealer - DO NOT CONSIDER BUYING FROM THIS "CAR" DEALER - THEY ARE SCAMMERS.

Steer well clear!

Edit - They even said they would sue me if I left a slanderous review. What lovely people they are!

Edit - 15/01/2026 - I contacted the small claims court in June 2025. Less than 2 weeks before the hearing date, SF Cars finally settled out of court for the full amount including court fees.
