The worst company we have dealt with in over 50 years of trading.

Our Ltd company hired phone systems through Shire Leasing, but we recently switched to another provider who agreed to settle the remaining balance on our contract. This was only around two weeks ago, and since then my colleagues have been constantly bombarded with phone calls and blunt / threatening emails on a daily basis.

We have repeatedly explained the situation and forwarded all relevant documents and emails confirming that payment will be made by our new provider in the coming days. Despite this, the calls and emails continue.

At this point, they are either simply not listening to or comprehending what we are telling them, or they are unhappy that we have chosen to move to another provider.

To make matters worse, over the course of the agreement these phone systems have cost us in excess of £6,000, for basic plastic desk phones that can be purchased outright online for around £60 each. In our experience, the value for money has been appalling.

The other reviews speak for themselves, and based on our experience, we certainly would not recommend this company.

And please do not respond to this review asking us to contact your complaints department. We have already spent enough time trying to explain the situation directly, only to feel as though we are banging our heads against a brick wall. You cannot resolve a communication problem when the company you are trying to communicate with simply does not listen.

An FCA-regulated lender that ignored a Subject Access Request for 14 months, then pretended it never received it

Shire Leasing declined a finance application citing "adverse credit" and "poor payment history." The credit file is clean. Every other lender agrees. So I asked them, formally, under UK GDPR, what data they were relying on.

They acknowledged the request within three days. Then nothing. Not one month, which is the legal limit. Fourteen months. From the firm's own Data Protection Officer.

When I complained again, the response arrived in under a week — and it re-dated my request to August 2026, as though June 2025 had never happened. Unfortunately for Shire, their own records, which they handed to me in that same response, contain a note dated 26/06/2025: "sent email to acknowledge DSAR." They logged it. They ignored it. Then they wrote a letter pretending otherwise.

And the "adverse information" they've been declining on for over a year? Their disclosure contains none. No credit report. No default. No missed payment. What it does contain is my date of birth entered wrong, my name searched as a company name, and a watchlist hit on a different person with the same name and no date of birth or country matched. That's what they've been calling adverse credit. Three times.

Their final response doesn't explain any of it. It says the decision was made at their "sole discretion." Which is the answer you give when you don't have one.

This is a company that will label you a credit risk, refuse to tell you why, ignore your legal right to find out, and then misstate its own records when caught. Now with the ICO and the Financial Ombudsman.
