Made an order online for next day delivery paid extra for it to not come and then paid extra to send back to the company not received my refund or had any response !! AVIOD SCAMMERS!!

Item delivered was significantly different to the image on the webpage
I was disappointed with my recent order with Simply Fancy Dress. I ordered n 'Arwen' costume for my 8-year old daughter (she was invited to a Lord of the Rings party). However, when the item arrived it looked significantly different to the image on the website (a large part of the dress was brown as opposed to cream, which wouldn't matter if the dress wasn't an iconic outfit worn in the film). When I called to enquire whether I had been sent the correct item, I was told the manufacturer had changed the fabric and not told them (and that they were entitled to do this). I was then told that I could have a refund if I wasn't happy but that I would have to cover the costs of the postage. I find it remarkable that a company can send me an item which doesn't match the image on the website and then be charged if I wish to return it. The Sale of Goods Act requires prodcuts to be fit for purpose and match their description - this certainly didn't fit the bill.

Here at Simply Fancy Dress we make every effort to maintain clear descriptions and endeavor to use such 'up to date' images that are representative and truly reflect each product. This outfit is manufactured and supplied to us by Rubies Masquerade under their official 'Lord of the Rings' license.
On this occasion Rubies have failed to inform us of any amendment to this product and consequently let us and a valued customer down. Such a change is rare, but in the manufacturing process where material suppliers can vary then it has been known to happen.
For this reason we caveat in our terms and conditions, agreed to upon checkout, that we cannot be held responsible for the manufacturer's obligation of a right to change product specification including colour or design at any time and without notice. This is not an excuse but hopefully an explanation why we must separate such issues from the service we provide as a retailer.
We always listen to our customer feedback and as a result of your comments we have amended the image to reflect a darker shade in the appropriate panels of the dress to be a more accurate representation of the shade that will be received. Rubies are currently investigating the reasoning behind the change in fabric.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention and hope this isolated issue will not deter you from shopping with us again.
