Skendleby Hall Avis 

Avoid this place or do I say Avoid Amanda (the host). We arrived to someone else’s mess — the dishwasher was already full and we were expected to unload it ourselves, and every cup, teapot and kettle was caked in limescale that we had to scrub off before we could even make a cup of tea. For what’s charged, basic hygiene should already be sorted before guests arrive, not left for us to fix.

We were also assured the deposit would be sorted properly and promptly, and it wasn’t — it still hasn’t been fully returned days later, despite being told on the day that it was all fine. Then a few days into our stay, the host walked straight into the property without knocking or any notice — no permission asked, nothing. Hosts do not have the right to let themselves in unannounced, and it left us on edge for the rest of the trip.

The property is also advertised as 3 acres of land, but in reality most of it is crop fields, not usable garden or grounds — see photo — nowhere near what the listing implies, so don’t expect the space the photos suggest. Don’t believe the old photos on here, they don’t reflect what you’ll actually get.

After we’d already left, the host raised a serious and upsetting claim about the state of the master shower that we were never given the chance to respond to or discuss directly — we simply don’t recognise this at all. Her story has kept changing since — first she said she’d already cleaned it herself, now she’s saying she needs to bring in cleaners to “inspect” it. Can’t keep the story straight. Facilities were a letdown too — a freezer wasn’t working and ruined food we’d bought, the fans were undersized and useless in the heat, sockets were scarce throughout, and towel provision didn’t even match the stated occupancy, with just 2 towels for a room sleeping 3.

We were also made to clean and wash out the bins ourselves during our stay, which isn’t something guests should be expected to do. There’s also an unmarked drop right next to the trampoline in the garden — technically there was a warning sign, but it was so small and easy to miss it may as well not have been there, and with children around this is a serious accident waiting to happen. It needs to be made far more obvious before booking, not tucked away where no one will see it.

One of our family members was also hurt when a garden chair collapsed under them and is still bruised; we were told afterwards the chairs were simply old and weak, which if true means they should never have been left out for guests to use.

Altogether this was far more hassle, cleaning and risk than any guest should have to deal with, especially at this price. Never felt like a holiday — it felt like we were being watched and inspected the entire time by Amanda. Don’t recommend. Stay away.

I chose Skendleby Hall for my 50th birthday weekend, bringing together a large group of family and friends for a few days, and it is difficult to imagine anywhere that could have made the occasion feel more special.

The Hall itself is quite extraordinary. It has enormous character, beautiful rooms, wonderful grounds and seemingly endless corners to discover. It manages the unusual trick of feeling suitably grand for a special occasion while also becoming, remarkably quickly, a home. With a house full of friends, long dinners, drinks in the drawing room, games on the lawn and conversations that carried on far later than intended, it was exactly the atmosphere I had hoped for.

What really sets Skendleby apart, though, are Amanda and Adrian. From our first contact through to the weekend itself, their communication was excellent. They were friendly, helpful, accommodating and genuinely seemed to care that everything worked for us. Organising a weekend for a large group could easily have been stressful, but whenever there was a question or something we needed help with, they made things easier.

A particular highlight was Adrian’s wine tasting, although “wine tasting” may be a slightly dignified description of what became a wonderfully entertaining afternoon of wine drinking, stories, laughter and learning just enough about what was in the glass to justify another one. Adrian judged the group perfectly and made it enormous fun. It became one of those shared experiences that everyone was still talking about afterwards.

There are places you hire for an event, enjoy, and leave. Skendleby Hall felt rather different. For one weekend it became our house: the backdrop to photographs, meals, laughter, celebrations and memories with people who mean a great deal to me.

I had spent a long time planning my 50th and had very high hopes for what the weekend might be. Somehow, it exceeded them. Amanda, Adrian & Skendleby played a significant part in making that happen, and I am enormously grateful to them.

If you are looking for somewhere genuinely memorable to bring together the people you love for a milestone celebration, I cannot recommend Skendleby Hall highly enough.

The Lincolnshire Regency Society returned to Skendleby Hall for our annual Regency House Party on the weekend of 19th-21st June. This is the highlight in our calendar of events. The Hall has a calm and relaxing atmosphere, enhanced by its stunningly beautiful location. The rooms are light and airy: the decor is tasteful. The ample grounds give scope for outdoor activities such as croquet and battledore. We recommend the Hall as a weekend retreat.

We had the most amazing family gathering to celebrate two golden and one silver wedding anniversary at The Hall. So much to do for all the ages and being able to all sit down at one table to eat made it extra special. Very well equipped kitchens, lots of activities to enjoy and great suites of rooms for families with young children. Will be looking for another big celebration for an excuse to return!

Perfect location for a big group gathering. We were there this last weekend for a hen party . 27 people in one house sounds a little bit chaos but it wasn’t. There’s lovely rooms to congregate together but also plenty of place to be on your own if you wish. Every bedroom was beautiful all with en suites. One room was also kitted out for any disabilities. There’s 2 kitchens so plenty of ovens, fridges dishwashers etc. The games room is great with a huge pool table also another room with lots of other games. There’s a hot tub outside and also a large grassed area where we did a sports afternoon. Plenty of parking for several cars . Will definitely recommend this place and would 100% go back.

A fantastic venue. A great place for everyone to gather and catch up and celebrate. We had people travelling from Gran Canaria/ Ireland and other parts of England. The place is breathtaking and so homely. We felt as ease as soon as arriving. We had a great weekend and some of us already chatting about making it a yearly meet up at skendleby hall.

Amazing from start to finish!
We booked the venue for a hen party weekend from Thursday to Sunday and had an absolute blast. The venue is even more impressive in person than the photos suggest.
There were 27 of us, and we were able to cook breakfast every morning and dinner every evening with plenty of space for everyone. Throughout the weekend we enjoyed games, name challenges, Traitors, a paint-and-sip session, sports day with rounders, and topped it all off with a Beyoncé-themed party.
It truly was a special weekend, made even better by the support from Amanda while planning and organising the event. She was always on hand to help and made the whole process so easy.
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate and make unforgettable memories. Highly recommended!

Skendleby Hall is truly exceptional. We stayed there last weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday, and everything about the experience was flawless. There were 26 of us, yet the house felt both wonderfully spacious and effortlessly luxurious. The interiors are beautifully designed with great attention to detail, and the grounds are simply stunning.
It’s a genuinely special place, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have spent such a memorable weekend there.
Amanda and Adrian were outstanding hosts who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran perfectly. Amanda was incredibly attentive, offering thoughtful suggestions and helpful guidance on planning the weekend, while Adrian treated us to a personalised wine tasting, which was a real highlight. Skendleby Hall is an incredible place for a gathering. We used it for a small corporate event and it struck just the right balance between professional and relaxing. The setting in the Lincolnshire Wolds is breathtaking, and the property has everything you need for a memorable stay. It felt private, spacious and very well suited for groups looking for something unique.

We hired Skendleby Hall for a family celebration and it was absolutely perfect. The house itself is beautiful, full of character and set in such peaceful surroundings. Having plenty of en-suite bedrooms made it really comfortable for everyone staying over. The views across the countryside were stunning and made the whole occasion feel extra special.

Our Christmas celebration at Skendleby Hall exceeded all expectations. The experience was faultless - from the delicious food and excellent wine to the impeccable hospitality throughout our stay.

An Unforgettable Night & A Stunning Transformation!

I recently attended a charity dinner at Skendleby Hall for The Orders of St John Care Trust, and I was absolutely blown away.

This venue is a testament to passion and dedication. I visited the Hall years ago as a teenager in the Scouts, and the transformation achieved by Adrian, Amanda, and their team is simply incredible. They have done a sterling job of restoring and renovating this magnificent Grade II listed house.

The venue itself provided the perfect setting for the event—beautifully maintained, historic, and welcoming. The catering and service provided by the team were flawless, making for a truly memorable evening.

For anyone looking for a unique and high-quality venue for an event, staycation, wedding, or large group stay, I highly recommend Skendleby Hall. You are not only booking an amazing space, but you are also supporting a monumental effort in heritage preservation.

I recently had the honour of holding a full day of healing at Skendleby Hall, and I can honestly say it was one of the most supportive environments I’ve ever worked in.
From the moment I arrived, Amanda welcomed me with so much kindness, calm and organisation. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, and she made sure I had everything I needed to create a safe and nurturing space for the guests. Nothing was rushed, nothing was stressful — just ease and genuine care from start to finish.

The hall itself holds such a peaceful energy. The blend of history, beauty and serenity creates the perfect setting for deep emotional release and spiritual rest. Many of the clients shared that they felt instantly relaxed the moment they stepped through the doors, and I truly believe the environment — along with Amanda’s heart — played a big part in that.

What stood out most was how supported I felt as a practitioner. Amanda trusted my work completely, allowed me to bring my own flow, and created a team atmosphere where every facilitator could shine in their own way. It felt collaborative, respectful and heart-centred — a rare combination.

If you’re considering attending or offering healing work at Skendleby Hall, I can’t recommend it enough. Amanda has created something very special: a space where people don’t just attend a retreat — they experience a deep return to themselves.

I had a lovely relaxing weekend retreat here. A beautiful manor house with a very calm, warm and welcome atmosphere. The rooms are super clean and comfortable, I had a very peaceful sleep in the pink room!
Amanda was very accommodating, changing the schedule to the needs of her guests always checking everyone was happy and enjoying the experience.
I enjoyed both yoga sessions, each with their different styles and benefits. This is now something I want to look into taking up regularly. The sound bathing was a very healing session for me, and very different to my previous sound bathing experience. I think we were able to feel safe and comfortable in the hall and having spent a few days as a group really helped us to fully relax.

The hall is the absolute perfect location for Mindfulness, Meditation, Sound Bathing, Yoga and more, the perfect retreat.
The Hall has been beautifully and lovingly restored to a high standard.

Amanda and her whole team were absolutely fantastic. We hired Skendleby Hall for the weekend for our wedding and we were made to feel like it was our home! Amanda was amazing and made us all feel completely relaxed. The hall is absolutely stunning and every guest commented on how gorgeous both the Hall and the views were. The hot tub during the sun set was perfection! We would highly recommend Skendleby Hall as a wedding venue.

We booked Skendleby Hall for our annual company strategy retreat and it was a phenomenal success. The grandeur of the house commanded respect and focus during our meetings, while the comfortable en-suite rooms and beautiful grounds provided the perfect setting for relaxation and team bonding in the evenings. Having everyone accommodated on-site was incredibly efficient and fostered much better conversations than a generic hotel. The views across the rolling countryside were the perfect antidote to city life. Highly recommended for any business looking to inspire its team.

Excellent large group accommodation - plenty of nice bedrooms (most ensuite!) and very well equipped catering set-up. The garden was a big hit with the kids and the location made a nice change for us, never having stayed in this part of the world before. We had a good day at the lovely Anderby Creek beach, and enjoyed the arcades in Skegness too. Amanda and Carol are the perfect hosts - communicative and nothing too much trouble.

We had our wedding at Skendleby hall on 04/06/2025, it was such a beautiful day in such a beautiful setting. It was perfect for what we wanted, and we weren’t rushed into one day which was amazing, we had a few days to relax and take it in with our nearest and dearest. A day I will always cherish.
