Stowe Family Law - Birmingham Avis 

I worked mostly with Laura and Molly at the Birmingham branch throughout a long and strenuous divorce that seemed never ending at times, but they were very supportive, explained everything and fought my corner as and when it was needed to finally reach a resolution which I’m very grateful for. Not necessarily the cheapest solicitors available but they’ve been worth every penny for me, for it to finally be over.

Superb, professional, empathetic, organised. I cannot thank Laura enough.

Professional, understanding, and supportive solicitors. When I asked for savings to be made on my case I was transferred to more junior members of staff, all were excellent.
My only reason for 4 stars is the cost. In the end the overall cost was reasonable, but at points I was worried about escalating costs. When I raised this there was no issue in costs being saved by more junior staff working on my case which I appreciated.
I would definitely recommend Stowe for divorce proceedings.
My review relates to the Birmingham office but my case was actually shared between Manchester and Birmingham - both very good.

This firm is awful they epitomise everything that is gives lawyers a bad name …hell bent on making as much money as possible perhaps they could change their motto to something like “we love to charge” ….. they charge for absolutely everything, they review the case when nothing is happening and then charge you. They forget or lose items already sent and then charge again for the pleasure when you re-send.
I noticed duplicate charges between colleagues with “reviews” of each other’s work. They provide estimated costs for the progress on your case, send out the estimate and charge you for it. Sending out emails to both the OP and me separately charging me twice for the pleasure when surely one email would suffice?
The mismanagement of the case led to an embarrassing briefing with my Barrister, Stowe had missed off crucial details which I had to update him with ….but they still charge you when again you have to send in documents already sent …I think you can get the drift of what I am saying charge, charge and charge again …when you challenge anything they make up some jargon/ answer to any questions.
They also carry out unauthorised work …. after my FDR hearing they undertook work on my case without authorisation but are still charging, my solicitor was changed mid case, and I got charged for the pleasure of a new Solicitor catching up on the details.
I was the victim of domestic abuse, but I don’t think they were that bothered about it, it seems to me their priority is to charge you before thinking of your wellbeing . They also came across as weak when it came to dealing with the Ops solicitor too
It has cost me tens of thousands of pounds even though I represented myself twice prior to the FDR hearing and I am not sure what they did to help me other than collate the documents I sent in into a bundle, which incidentally I checked and found to be incorrect so they charge me again for updating it.
I have asked for details of whom I should raise a complaint with but there has not been a reply yet.

I can’t even describe how good Aa’ishah is! She understood my case, understood my concerns and fought for me every step of the way. Professional, knowledgable, and she made everything easy for me to understand. And she’s gorgeous! That smile! Win win win.

Only provide support and advice for Fathers not mothers as they are bias and get most their custom from Fathers. I was advised that if i left the country with my child that i would be stopped in customs even though the matter hasn't gone to court yet with the Father what utter rubbish so everytime a mother takes her own children on holiday they get stopped?! since when absolute nonesense if ur a mother seek advice else where don't waste your time with these unprofessional idiots

I cannot recommend Stowe Family Law and Alice Price in particular, highly enough. They are extremely responsive to any type of query or action required and Alice was so helpful in explaining the different processes. It made a very stressful divorce process much easier to navigate and progressed the matter swiftly.

The most expensive error of judgement after the one to marry my ex! Their focus is absolutely on fees and protecting their position not cost effective conclusive negotiations

I went from feeling beaten, powerless, desperate and borderline hopeless to having a plan within 10 to 20 minutes. I needed advice for a child arrangements order following an acrimonious divorce that was handled by another law firm. What can I say? I wish Stowe Family had handled my divorce itself, might have had a better outcome for everyone. Hannah Stubbs and Monica were swift, responsive and delivered a high quality service. I was very pleased with their advice and I followed their recommendations and most importantly got the outcome I wanted in court.

I would recommend Stowe family law after a particularly tricky divorce that had gone on for a number of years.
I was kept informed at each step and found Molly and Claire a pleasure to deal with.

Please do not use this law firm, I did not receive any useful advice throughout my fourteen months using them, they were at best vague, at worst non committal. My wife who was representing herself ran rings around the persons involved and seemed to be one step ahead of the lawyers at Stowe every time. My wife actually sold a property that was in her name during the process and at no point did any one at Stowe bring her to task on dissolution of assets, and when my Form E was submitted the first time it had clearly been cut and pasted as it had someone else`s name on when sent to the other side. You will feel like you are just in a production line of other clients, and you will also part with a lot of money in the process. My advice would be to contact a Barrister through the direct access route, you will receive more robust advice and probably spend less money. I could go on, but I wont, sometimes, as is my experience the biggest law practice is not the best.
