This is our second piece of bespoke fitted furniture that we have from Strachan. We were so delighted with our dressing room and wardrobes in our own bedroom we decided to also have some wardrobes fitted in the guest room. I can’t recommend this company highly enough, Simon who designed for us on both occasions did such a wonderful job. And how nice it was to see actual drawings by hand rather than everything just done on a laptop. Howard the surveyor was excellent- after his visit a few things from the original design had to be amended to accommodate the loft hatch, but we were kept informed and received a letter and updated designs to sign off and return to show that we were happy with this. We also had an angled door that had to be fitted at a later date so the angles could be measured exactly- even though we had a slight delay on this we were kept updated on this so it wasn’t a problem. The gentleman that came to fit for us was just brilliant, so down to earth, highly skilled, polite and accommodating- I particularly enjoyed his singing in the morning along to his radio!! He did a fantastic job and we are again delighted with the finished product. I have nothing negative to say about this company- the furniture has transformed our house.

The requirement was for fitted wardrobes (different configurations) in two bedrooms. Strachans were able to accommodate different install dates and separate payments.
The design/specification and sign off process is highly formalised and making changes will protract the process. A couple of 'wrinkles' occurred along the way as well but were resolved. Getting the end result right is the most important outcome and we did achieve that.
A special recognition for Giovanni who was the fitter on both installations. His work was to a very high standard and he achieved great results to our complete satisfaction.
Strachans will not be an inexpensive solution but the quality of finish both externally and especially internally is clear to see.

Downsizing from a smaller house, we wanted to refurbish a converted garage which had been used as a simple office to serve a variety of needs. Disappointed, having trawled through what a number of cheaper fitted furniture firms had to offer, we visited Strachan’s, and, shown round by one of their designers, we quickly sensed we had come to the right place.

Over the next few weeks, we worked with Phill (the designer), discussing our long check-list of needs and wishes that developed into a creative interactive process of producing successive drafts of plans and detailed drawings until we were satisfied.

Six weeks later, with contracts signed, Aaron arrived. A skilled fitter, and very personable, and with an amazing eye for detail, Aaron worked away for five days, measuring, trimming and installing a myriad of units, fitting the electrics we had ordered, discussing the finer points of the installation as he went along, and before he left, ensuring we were completely happy with his work.

When Aaron had finished, we had a multi-purpose room of (light-coloured) New England English Oak floor-to-ceiling fitted units: a study with a huge desk and drawers; multiple bookshelves and cupboards for lever-arch files; two coat cupboards; a glass-fronted, and glass-shelved display cupboard; a recessed ‘meditation space’ fitted with an overhead light convertible to a single bed for guests; a spacious pantry cupboard and cleverly-designed additional storage units.

A perfectionist, Aaron rejected a tall cupboard door that was slightly chipped and ordered another. Six weeks later a second fitter arrived with the replacement which he, too, rejected as it also failed Strachan’s high-bar quality standards. Yesterday, early June, the third replacement door was fitted, though we had already been using the units for a couple of months.

Overall, I cannot recommend Strachan’s more highly. Though not cheap, the quality of the units and the professional skills of the designer and fitters and their desire to keep us abreast of development ensured that a bespoke room has been crafted which is both functional and aesthetic which we are delighted with and which will clearly last for many years. Strachan’s final attribute is that from start to finish, they provide the customer a huge intangible - peace of mind that the furniture they design and build will be installed without the customer having to worry.

From the planning to the installation, we’ve been impressed by the excellent level of customer service and communication. Hayley and Claire were extremely helpful. We were delighted to see the finished result this week of our Murphy wall bed and library wall beautifully finished in taupe with aged gold hardware. To say we are thrilled with the craftsmanship and excellent installation would be an understatement.
Steve Kitt was the excellent Strachan craftsman who spent two days at our flat building our new furniture. He was excellent and a wonderful ambassador for the company. Polite, friendly and a very fast and competent craftsman. Strachan is reassuringly expensive but worth every penny. Thank you/

Strachan previously installed a range of units in our office/bedroom some ten years ago, which is still as immaculate now as it was on installation. Because of this, we decided to use them again to have fitted units in our spare bedroom. From design planning to completion, the process has been good. Apart from one part not being available, resulting in a later visit, there was also a mix up with the bedroom stool being the wrong colour, but this was resolved and was delivered today to complete the installation. Aaron, the fitter, was polite, very hardworking, clean and tidy, and kept us entertained with his singing. We advised him not to give up the day job! The installation was quite expensive, but as others have said, you get what you pay for. Also a 10 year guarantee. We would recommend.

From the moment I got in touch with them it was the beginning of a wonderful experience! Their attention to detail was impressive, their staff are very pleasant, and nothing is too much trouble. I chose a fold down bed with integrated cupboards and the quality is fabulous and they were fitted to the highest standard. I can highly recommend Strachan for both product and exceptional service.

We are really pleased with our new home office Strachan furniture. This process was made all the better by "Aaron" - the installation engineer who went above and beyond in all the work he carried out. A thoroughly nice "chap"who is a credit to Strachan, even if his singing is something to be desired!

Strachan have just finished installing a fitted bedroom including a Murphy bed. We are absolutely delighted with the end result. The design process was thorough and and supportive. The fitter Pete needs a special mention his attention to detail and skills are exceptional. Thoroughly recommended.

Great product, good design process, not unreasonable price (not cheap but you get what you pay for!), very good experience with communication and fitting. Strachan appear to be the only furniture makers to offer true bespoke fitted furniture. My study was very complex to meet multiple needs and they met every challenge to get me exactly what I wanted. Excellent job from design to installation with superb customer service.

Exemplary customer service - the best. Bought office and bedroom furniture from Strachan about 20 years and, due to recent office refurb, I’ve needed some spares. Strachan customer team have promptly sent out parts, no quibble. Sometimes, it is worth paying a little bit more for quality and customer care.

Great experience from design to installation.
We approached a number of companies and Strachan’s designer proposed a solution that best met our requirements. This was a bespoke design and not handicapped by having to fit within a restricted list of unit sizes. We are impressed by the high quality of the units delivered and the care taken during the installation.

Communication was a nightmare start to finish. They failed to send out documents, confirmation of order etc. The surveyor did not bother to actually measure up or review properly, missing electrical inputs and meaning when the fitter came the parts did not fit. The installation had to be completed at a later date after much chasing.

Extremely premium pricing with low quality service. Shop elsewhere if you can!

UPDATE: Following leaving this review Strachans got in touch. After some internal discussion they wanted to highlight:

1. They do not offer compensation as a practice - even if their errors cost you time and money

2. They would consider offering a 'goodwill gesture' equivalent to about a 1.5% refund - but they would only consider this if I took this review down.

(They were very clear they did not want to position it as paying to take the review down... Just that if the review did come down they would be very open to making such a gesture, and otherwise they would not)

I would advise all potential buyers to consider this practice when they see the typically positive reviews on the webpage.

This company has a good reputation, but I take issue with their methods. I paid a deposit on the day of the salesman's visit on the basis of this reputation. The salesman repeatedly assuring me I could change anything. I informed the company that I wished to change a number of things, but the long and the short of it is that they failed to revert to me until after the cooling -off period (the existence of which was not mentioned until after it had passed) and when we were unable to agree on what I wanted at an appropriate price, they refused to let me cancel my order and return my deposit. Rather than enter a protracted court battle, I agreed to a compromise which has regrettably left me with a hideous (and very expensive) piece of furniture which I will have to paint (thereby incurring further expense) to disguise. Sad that a company like this pursue an outcome that was always likely to leave a dissatisfied customer, even if he is a fool who has been easily parted from his money.

I offer no criticism of the fitter or the construction of the furniture at all, but I am NOT a satisfied customer.

Strachan Furniture fitted some wardrobes and a wall bed for us and we were delighted with the whole service and finished product. Lawrence the fitter was very professional, turned up on time, completed the job without any issues and left the room clean and tidy. I had furniture fitted in my son’s bedroom and a shoe closet in the hallway by Lawrence from Strachan Furniture. The workmanship was great and I loved the design and the way the furniture was fitted and finished.
Lawrence paid attention to details and after his work he made sure that he left the place very tidy. He advised us on how to care for the furniture and reminded us about the furniture 10 year warrant.
My neighbour saw the work that was done and she too loved it and is planning to call Strachan in the near future for her own home furniture.
