Dangerous dog, nasty cafe owner
Have enjoyed several visits. But recently was sitting outside in the cafe seating area when I became aware of snarling. It was a Rottweiler on hind legs trying to attack. Face about a foot from mine. I was with a small baby. Terrifying. Not the cafes’s responsibility of course. But shockingly the Rottweiler owner - when she finally got the dog under control - took it inside to get her coffee. Cafe served her inside despite witnessing the incident (I asked had they). To be clear it was not safe to take that dog inside a small noisy space in that state. Apparently they are regulars. The dog owner was apologetic but the fact she still proceeded into the cafe was shocking. I contacted management to ask would the dog be allowed in in future and got no immediate response. Then, more shockingly, I got a response accusing me of lying! Saying the dog is welcome, I am not! As the owner wasn’t there I don’t understand his rationale at all. Clearly he hadn’t bothered talking to the dog owner, who had been very honest and apologetic. Now while the incident is not the cafe’s responsibility. Their reaction is. I would not go there again fearing that dog. And I feel it is only right to warn other clients so they can make their own mind up.
I’ve also checked on other review sites and this cafe owner leaves nasty comments every time people dare to give anything other than a glowing review, whatever the reason. He accuses all such reviewers of lying and / or being rude. So his reaction to me is part of a pattern of behaviour. At least I’m not being singled out I guess…
