Fake Review Codes
So I thought the discounts on offer were too good to be true, and they weren't appearing on the websites when you clicked through. I inspected the elements on the page for the Uniqlo one (which is what I was looking for at the time) and the code was hardcoded, hadn't been updated since 2023, and was set to the phrase "DORMANT2" and is designed specifically not to work.
This is luring students in and giving false hope. While I assume it's not illegal to do this, it's certainly not good for students who are looking to save money. The NUS has recently flagged that 1/3 of students are living on £50 per month, and therefore are relying on brands making discount deals with companies like this. Wasting their time is predatory behaviour for data mining.
I have a screenshot of the "code" in their UI from throttling my network speed so it can't re-route to the target brand page, and I can get a screenshot of the html as well before they can change it. This is a genuine review, and not based on belief or bias.
