Five years ago, Swain & Rands fitted all new windows in my flat. I later recommended the company to three other flat owners who also used them. Since my installation 3 windows have had to be replaced admittedly under the guarantee. More recently I had difficulty with two of the fan light windows as did my neighbour plus other minor faults. Darren came and said I would need 2 new locks, apparently not covered by the guarantee. I was informed the cost would be £120. Later Dave came to fit the 2 new locks. However, he said only one needed to be replaced and the other would work with WD40. He said that will save you some money as one will cost £60.

The invoice arrived and to my surprise it was for £100. When I queried this, I was informed there was a £90 call out fee. This had never been mentioned previously. I have since discovered my neighbour was not charged as his supposedly was covered by his guarantee. When I quired why I had to pay and he didn’t I was told it was ‘user error’ as I had the fan windows open. I thought the plan was to be able to have windows open. I certainly will not be recommending Swain & Rands again.

One window no longer weatherproof, and water pouring through during heavy rain. Even though the installation is less than five years old S&R are not interested in honouring their guarantee as the property has changed hands since they carried out the work. No discussion or good will gesture, just a straight no. Disappointing.

Having written an excellent review previously I now find that the continuing service is sadly lacking.My conservatory is now leaking .I was asked to provide photos and now they will not take responsibility even though there has been no on site inspection.I would not be able to recommend this company.
