Thewelsh House Avis 

Four of us had lunch at the Wesh House in Penclawdd and it was fab! The food was excellent, between us we had chicken, beef and an upgrade to the trio of beef, pork and chicken. Great portions and really tasty!
For dessert we tried the Expresso Martini Delice - to die for if you're a coffee lover like me! The Rhubarb and Custard Sundae and the Peach Melba Delice were also delicious.
Service was excellent, thank you to Maddie who made our visit really enjoyable, she was fun, very attentive and checked if any of us had allergies - my nephew has a nut allergy so this was really important to us.
Will absolutely visit again - highly recommended.

Welsh House Swansea. Inconsistent service. Lukewarm starter. Mains-fish and chips- overcooked batter , rock hard chips. Both felt ill all evening after eating. Won't be back

Welsh House Carmarthen. Lovely venue, and staff attentive. Order taken promptly. We requested the Master Chef curried fish and chips. When it arrived we were about to send it back, but because of hunger did not. The dish did not resemble Wynns online photo in any shape or form. The fish was so small and thin it dissapeared on top of the chips. Batter, seasoned but overly cooked, disintergrated when cut open onto the plate. Mushy peas, dry and poppodom very thick and cold. We paid the bill and left.

Booked an afternoon tea here (Cardiff) on Saturday 17th at 2pm. We showed up on time and informed the Bulgarian staff member, we were there for afternoon tea. She promptly led us to a table near the window. We were then ignored for 30min...
It was only until my wife asked, when we would get some food and drink, did the comedy begin!
We were told, the chef was preparing our food "fresh" and would be another 5min. A Prosecco was offered but turned down.
Another 10min later, a tray of 2 teas was brought and we were informed out bill would have a discount because of the wait.
I told the young staff member, that we had enough of waiting and would go elsewhere for food. She apologised.
The Bulgarian staff member who greeted us, then came over to apologise. We assume it was her fault, perhaps the chef was not informed we had arrived at 2pm for afternoon tea? by this time it was 2:45pm.
At no point was an explanation given for the complete lack of communication and embarrassing customer service.
I'd be grateful to the owner of this business for an explanation.
Luckily we are local to Cardiff, because if we had been tourists, this kind of service from a business that promotes all things Welsh, is a very poor reflection of our country.
Safe to say, we won't be visiting again.

I phoned to book the day and time and told them that one was veggie but does eat eggs and cheese, and I eat everything but don't put butter on my sandwiches.They brought us all vegan with no butter .I said neither of us was vegan and the waitress said that was how the order had been placed.I said no , that was wrong.I ate two vegan sandwiches which I had to force down and two small pieces of carrot cake.My friend who is veggie didn't eat much more.I bought the tea for two for a present for her and I was so disappointed and annoyed that my order was not what I had said over the phone.I can't see that I would go there again

We booked for two at the Welsh house in Neath for New Year’s Eve for what we hoped would be a nice meal. We couldn’t have been more disappointed. The place was absolutely freezing cold and everyone sat in their coats shivering, I asked why it was so cold and was told it was because of the buildings high ceiling! We were given blankets to help keep warm! Onto the food we ordered vegetable soup and potted pig as starters , the soup comprised primarily of potatoe and one or two bits of carrot in what was no more than tasteless hot water, the potted pig didn’t resemble a terrine and was lumps served in a jar with two tiny slithers of allegedly sourdough bread. They advertise a premium dry aged steaks i.e Sirloin or ribeye but no prices I was staggered to find that the cost of my 8 ounce sirloin £32.95 which was served lukewarm and slightly overcooked with minimal amount of chips and two tiny onion rings my wife’s sea bass comprised a small piece of fish over a bland potatoe pattie in a bland sauce.When we ordered drinks they brought me the wrong one so changed this however when we got home and checked the bill we had been charged for this drink which was returned. In future we will stick to sizzler or beefeater where we get better meals at half the price.
Never again will be eat in any Welsh house !

Food was awful we had the Xmas 2 course half of a carrot half of a parsnip no sprouts 3 roast potato and gravy 3 small pieces of beef that was the only thing that was nice, it was freezing cold in there we had to put our coat on the girl who was service us was friendly , I would not recommend this place for food

When we arrived we noticed lots of people had their coats on ,after 5 minutes the lady's complained it was cold , they said they had a fan that never turned up , service was hood food was good. But would not ho back in the winter months , I would leave it till the summer .I think there was a problem with air-conditioning system

We visited the SA1 restaurant for Sunday lunch. The table was sticky, and the roast was disappointing, a single parsnip, a small spoonful of mash, and a bit of broccoli. The food was lukewarm, the turkey cold, and the portions extremely small for the price. The venue is pleasant, but the overall experience did not match expectations. Would not recommend and have no intention of returning.

We had Sunday lunch at The Welsh House Carmarthen.

The roast lunch was lukewarm warm and stone cold Yorkshire puddings which we sent back. We had to ask for condiments and also for cutlery. Our waitress Emily was very good but the waitress who gave=venus our lunch and desserts was not. Again no cutlery with the desserts so l had to ask. The Knickerbocker Glory was near on melted when arrived due to them standing for over 5 mins on the pass. No gloves worn when the chefs were dishing up the meat etc. such a shame as the flavours were in the meat and gravy but staff let it down. Wynne Evans you need to have a review /training of your staff. We would not go back. It was quite a costly Sunday lunch!!

We booked afternoon tea and on arrival the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The savoury items were very good and tasty. The scone was lovely, but we had to ask for the jam and cream. The bara brith was cut very thin and was crispy, the Welsh cake was very dry and tasteless and the chocolate brownie was stuck to the bara brith and was very sickly. Would not go back for afternoon tea - the sweet items were hugely disappointing.

Very disappointed, we don't eat out much, but when we do we like to have good food, so don't mind paying a bit more. Location is beautiful, along with the setting inside and out. But that's as about as good as it gets. If goes downhill after that. We were a party of four. The two men ordered the mixed grill, the content was very minimal, the rest of us ordered off what we thought was the specials board. PLEASE DO CHECK PRICES, the specials board is for specialised/ aged steak with no prices shown on the board. NOW, I don't mind paying a bit more for food as I have already stated, but on the whole, the food was only mid warm, the steaks on all plates, was over cooked and as tough as old boots. No condiments on the table or offered. I have had much, much better meals in larger chain resturants at a fraction of the price. When you finally receive your bill, you will be asked to check it and make sure your happy with thd billing, a service charge is automatically charged. BUT this optional, you do not have to pay it. BUT YOU NEED TO ASK FOR IT TO BE TAKEN OFF.
EXCEPTIONALLY DISAPPOINTED, we will not be going back. And definitely would not recommend eating at this restaurant to friends, family or in fact to anyone. PLEASE DO YOUR RESERCH BEFORE SPENDING ALOT OF HARD EARNED CASH AT THIS RESTURANT. THIS WAS SA1 SWANSEA RESTURANT

Ate here with the family on 2 occasions both times we received Luke warm food. Menu is limited and given the building and the decor we expect an enjoyable food experience; unfortunately not, low quality food at prices that you’d be expecting much higher standards. Sorry but would not recommend. This was at the Neath branch..

Went for a meal had the risotto offered no Parmesan cheese …. My husband had fish and chips batter on fish was dark again offered no sauces or vinegar…
Desert was Tiramisu which was sent back as it was not edible full of water …. Horrible

We are visitors to the UK and chose this place to meet up with friends. Our friends who are locals were embarrassed to have chosen the venue as the service was appalling. The young waiters seemed not to be interested in clients at all. We could have ordered more if they had come over to us. To top it up we all had different meals. I had roast lamb and I was VIOLENTLY ILL a few hours later.
